Twenty-four cleaning liquids read on 24 September, priced the only way they can be compared - by the litre. The shelf runs 130-fold, and the discount badge predicts none of it.
We read Flipkart's floor cleaner, toilet cleaner and dishwash shelf on 24 September 2026, and priced every listing by the litre. One finding organises the rest: GAINDA Black Phenyl, 2 x 1 L, appears twice - at Rs. 175 and at Rs. 255 - and both listings carry the identical 4.4 from 161 ratings, because ratings follow the product rather than the listing. Per litre that is Rs. 87.50 against Rs. 127.50, and the dearer copy is the one advertised as the bigger discount.
Every price below was pulled from Flipkart on September 24, 2026 and checked against the MRP on the listing. Stack them with the live codes on our Flipkart coupons page, which the deals desk re-verifies daily.

First: never compare two listings until you have divided by the pack size. On this shelf the same brand's own phenyl runs from Rs. 33.60 to Rs. 197 a litre depending only on which bottle you click, and nothing on the search page flags it. Second: check the rating count against other listings of the same product. Two identical counts - 161 here, twice - mean one product listed twice, and you can simply buy the cheaper one. Third: ignore the badge entirely. It runs from 2 per cent to 94 in this read and is calculated from an MRP the seller typed; the listing with the most credible MRP on the page, at 1.12 times its price, is also the worst per-litre rate for its brand. Fourth: bulk is only a saving if you will use it. Ten litres of institutional toilet cleaner at Rs. 22.90 a litre is genuinely the cheapest liquid here, and it is also ten litres of toilet cleaner to store; the twin packs at one and two litres are where the same arithmetic works for an ordinary home.

Every selling price, stated MRP, discount badge, rating average and rating count on this page was read on 24 September 2026 from flipkart.com's own search results for 'floor cleaner', 'toilet cleaner', 'phenyl disinfectant' and 'dishwash liquid', logged out, in India, two pages per query. 266 listings returned both a selling price and a stated MRP. Nothing was bought.
A cleaning liquid's price means nothing without its volume, and this shelf sells the same liquid in 50 ml sprays and 10 L cans. We divide the selling price by the millilitres the listing itself states - in its pack field where there is one, in its title otherwise - and print the result. 245 distinct listings state a volume; those are the only ones eligible for this page.
Ratings follow a product, not a listing, so when two listings of the same product name carry the identical rating count they are almost always one product listed twice. Two GAINDA Black Phenyl listings here both carry 4.4 from 161 ratings at Rs. 175 and Rs. 255. We seat both, name the pattern, and allege nothing about why it happens.
For each listing we divide the stated MRP by the selling price. The multiples in this read run from 1.07 (Koparo) to 6.36 (a GAINDA one-litre badged 84 per cent off Rs. 999). A high stated MRP is legal and commonplace across Indian retail; we report it and do not allege wrongdoing by Flipkart, by any seller or by any brand named.
One listing here - Diversey's Taski R7 - is a concentrate that is diluted before use, so its litre is not a litre of cleaning solution. Its card says so plainly. We have not diluted or used it and cannot state the ratio, which is why it is flagged rather than silently ranked against ready-to-use bottles.
'Kills 99.9% germs', 'disinfectant', 'germicide', 'ISI marked', 'organic', 'non-toxic', 'baby safe' and every other phrase on these cards is the listing's own title text, reproduced as printed and not verified. Nothing here was opened, diluted, applied to any surface or laboratory-tested, and no claim about cleaning performance, disinfection or safety is made or implied.
In our 24 September 2026 read the cheapest cleaning liquid of any kind is a Diversey TASKI R6 toilet cleaner, 2 x 5 L for Rs. 229 - Rs. 22.90 a litre, though it carries only six ratings. The cheapest floor cleaner specifically is a 5 L phenyl at Rs. 135, or Rs. 27.00 a litre, with 398 ratings at 3.8. If you want a name you recognise, GAINDA White Phenyle 5 L at Rs. 168 is Rs. 33.60 a litre with 1,853 ratings - the largest sample at the bulk end of this shelf.
We cannot tell you why, only that it happens and how to spot it. In this read, GAINDA Black Phenyl Disinfectant in a 2 x 1 L pack appears at Rs. 175 and at Rs. 255, and both listings publish the identical 4.4 from 161 ratings. Rating counts attach to a product, so two listings sharing one pool are almost always one product listed twice on the marketplace. The practical response is simple: search the exact product name, compare the rating counts, and buy the cheapest listing that shares the pool. No wrongdoing by Flipkart, by any seller or by GAINDA is alleged.
On this shelf, dramatically - but only if you will use it. GAINDA's own white phenyle is Rs. 33.60 a litre in a 5 L can and Rs. 99.00 a litre in a 1 L bottle, roughly three times the rate for the smaller pack. The same pattern repeats on Koparo's dishwash (Rs. 219 a litre in 2 L, Rs. 345 in 750 ml) and on roff's toilet cleaner (Rs. 202 a litre as a 2 x 500 ml pack, Rs. 384 as a single 500 ml bottle). The roff twin pack is the clearest case on the page: it costs Rs. 10 more than one bottle and contains twice as much.
No, and this read contains the cleanest possible counter-example. The Rs. 255 GAINDA listing shows 49% off while the identical Rs. 175 listing shows 45%, because their sellers typed MRPs of Rs. 499 and Rs. 320. Across the page the badges run from 2 per cent to 94 and the stated MRPs run from 1.07 to 6.36 times the selling price. The most credible MRP here - a GAINDA one-litre at 1.12 times its price, badged 10 per cent - sits on one of the worst per-litre rates on the shelf.
They can be, and this page deliberately does not pretend to answer it. One listing here, Diversey's Taski R7 Floor Cleaner Concentrate at Rs. 401 for 5 L, is diluted with water before use, so its Rs. 80.20 a litre buys considerably more cleaning solution than the number suggests - by a ratio the listing does not state and we have not tested. Every other card on this page is a ready-to-use liquid whose litre is a usable litre. Comparing the two columns without that dilution ratio is the most common way a per-litre comparison of cleaning products goes wrong.
