Fifty-seven drying stands read on 15 October. Thirteen of the 22 seated share just two stated MRPs, and the badge stops meaning anything the moment you notice.
A cloth drying stand is folded steel on castors, which makes this shelf a clean test of whether a discount badge helps you buy. Across the 57 listings Flipkart returned on 15 October, nine of the 22 we seated state exactly Rs. 5,999 as their MRP — under five different brand names, including Flipkart's own SmartBuy label — and they all sell between Rs. 849 and Rs. 1,059. Four more state exactly Rs. 4,999. Inside those groups the badge is measuring the price and nothing else, which is why the stand advertising 29% off costs 51% more than the stand advertising 86% off.
Every price below was pulled from Flipkart on October 15, 2026 and checked against the MRP on the listing. Stack them with the live codes on our Flipkart coupons page, which the deals desk re-verifies daily.
The cheapest three listings in the read are ceiling and wall racks, priced Rs. 241 to Rs. 300 - and every one of them states a modest MRP, which is the opposite of what the rest of the shelf does.
A ceiling rack, not a floor stand
Why it earned its spot the lowest price in the read, and the listing's own stated MRP is a credible Rs. 499 rather than a round four-figure number
Five tiers at Rs. 292
Why it earned its spot five tiers for Rs. 292, against one tier for Rs. 986 further down this same page — the clearest evidence that price does not encode tiers
Four tiers overhead, Rs. 300
Why it earned its spot a four-tier ceiling rack at Rs. 300 with a Rs. 999 stated MRP, completing the cheap end before the floor stands begin
Where the floor stands begin and where the pattern lives - nine listings stating exactly Rs. 5,999 and four stating exactly Rs. 4,999, from six brand names, inside a Rs. 345 price band.
Where the Rs. 4,999 group starts
Why it earned its spot the cheapest floor stand in the read, and the first of four listings stating exactly Rs. 4,999
Rs. 2,999 stated, in a Rs. 4,999 neighbourhood
Why it earned its spot priced within Rs. 2 of pick 4 but stating a different MRP, which halves its badge for no difference in what you pay
An 8-pipe wall unit, Rs. 833
Why it earned its spot an eight-pipe wall-mounted unit at Rs. 833 that carries no star average and no rating count at all
2,735 ratings, Rs. 838
Why it earned its spot the largest rating pool on the shelf, on the second of Unizone's three Rs. 4,999 listings
86% off, and Rs. 849
Why it earned its spot the deepest discount badge in the read, 86%, on the cheapest of the nine listings stating exactly Rs. 5,999
Rs. 891, 1,062 ratings
Why it earned its spot completing Unizone's trio at the same stated Rs. 4,999, with a third distinct rating pool
Rs. 912, Rs. 5,999 stated
Why it earned its spot the second of TNC's two listings at exactly Rs. 5,999, with no published rating on either tile
Rs. 926, and a sample of six
Why it earned its spot a 3.7-star average resting on exactly six ratings, beside listings carrying thousands
Rs. 965, no rating
Why it earned its spot the second of FAVOUR's three listings stating exactly Rs. 5,999, also with no published rating
SmartBuy, 1 Tier, Rs. 986
Why it earned its spot Flipkart's own brand, stating the same Rs. 5,999 as four other names on this page, on a stand the tile calls 1 Tier
Rs. 986, matching pick 13 exactly
Why it earned its spot an identical Rs. 986 selling price and identical Rs. 5,999 stated MRP to pick 13, from an unrelated brand
3 tiers, 1,171 ratings, Rs. 996
Why it earned its spot three tiers, a four-figure rating pool, and a stated MRP of Rs. 4,599 that is not one of this shelf's two round numbers
Best 4U, Rs. 998, 1,065 ratings
Why it earned its spot the fifth separate brand name in this read to state exactly Rs. 5,999
SmartBuy's second at Rs. 5,999
Why it earned its spot a second Flipkart SmartBuy listing at the same Rs. 5,999, one tier, Rs. 12 above its stablemate
FSB-003, Rs. 1,059
Why it earned its spot the top of the Rs. 5,999 group and the shallowest badge within it, at 82%
RAFTTAR, 3 tiers, Rs. 1,146
Why it earned its spot the fourth and dearest listing at exactly Rs. 4,999, with no published rating
Three listings at the top of the read, including the shallowest badge on the shelf at 29% - attached to a stand that costs more than the one badged 86%.
Rs. 6,000 stated, not Rs. 5,999
Why it earned its spot a stated MRP of exactly Rs. 6,000 — one rupee off the shelf's favourite number, and the only listing at that figure
29% off, Rs. 1,281
Why it earned its spot the shallowest badge on the shelf at 29%, on a stand that costs 51% more than the one badged 86%
One tier, Rs. 1,289
Why it earned its spot the highest price in the read, for a single tier, against a stated MRP that is not one of the shelf's round numbers
Three habits survive this read. First, read the stated MRP before the badge — when thirteen of twenty-two listings sit on two round numbers, the percentage is describing the strike-through rather than the stand, and a modest MRP like DRY LINE's Rs. 1,800 or PROJAIN STEEL's Rs. 4,599 is a more informative number than an 86%. Second, read the tier line, because the price does not encode it: this shelf sells one tier for Rs. 986 and five tiers for Rs. 292, and tiers are among the very few specifications these tiles actually publish. Third, read the rating count rather than the star. Four of the twenty-two seated stands publish no rating at all and two more rest on samples of six and twenty-nine, while the best-evidenced listing here carries 2,735 — and on a shelf where the badge and the price cannot separate anything, the size of the sample is the one number left doing real work.

Each selling price, stated MRP, discount badge, tier count, star average and rating count on this page was parsed on 15 October 2026 from the window.__INITIAL_STATE__ PRODUCT_SUMMARY tiles that flipkart.com serves with its own search-results pages for 'cloth drying stand', logged out, in India, with nothing purchased. 57 distinct drying-stand listings were returned and 22 are seated. Nothing here is taken from a product page, a review, a manufacturer's site or any third party.
Every 'stated MRP' on this page is the strike-through figure the tile prints. We have not established that any stand here was ever offered or sold at that figure, and we do not say that any MRP is false. Every percentage and multiple on this page is therefore arithmetic over two numbers a seller chose, not a measured saving. Where a listing states a modest, specific MRP - Rs. 499, Rs. 1,800, Rs. 4,599, Rs. 3,999 - we say so and name it, because that is the honest contrast to the two round figures that dominate the shelf.
Nine of the 22 seated listings state exactly Rs. 5,999 and four state exactly Rs. 4,999. That count is the finding. We have not established any ownership, licensing, supply or other relationship between FAVOUR, TNC, Flipkart SmartBuy, Best 4U, Unizone and RAFTTAR, we do not allege coordinated pricing or any breach of competition law, and sellers of a commodity converging on a common list price is an ordinary market outcome. The only claim made is the shopper-facing one: inside that group, the badge cannot separate one stand from another.
Flipkart prints a tier count as the subtitle on each of these tiles and this page reproduces it exactly, including where it is surprising - a 5-Tier wall rack at Rs. 292 and a 1-Tier floor stand at Rs. 986. We did not measure, count or assemble anything, and we make no claim that a tier count indicates capacity, load rating, steel gauge, stability or durability, none of which these tiles publish. A wall rack, a ceiling rack and a wheeled floor stand are different products and this page does not treat them as substitutes.
Four of the 22 seated listings publish no star average and no rating count at all, and two more rest on samples of six and twenty-nine. Those are stated plainly on the cards rather than left out. Where an average is shown it is the listing's own published figure on the date read and never our assessment, and no card treats a thin sample as evidence. Three Unizone listings sharing one stated MRP carry three distinct rating pools, so they are separate listings rather than duplicates of each other.
'Heavy Duty', 'Stainless Steel', 'Mild Steel', 'Pure Steel', 'Foldable', 'Rust-Free', '8-Pipe', every tier count and every dimension on this page are the listings' own printed words, reproduced as printed and not verified by us. We did not buy, unbox, assemble, load or use any stand. Nothing here is a statement about build quality, steel grade, weight capacity, stability, rust resistance, safety or fitness for any purpose, and a lower price per tier does not make a stand better.
In this read of 57 listings on 15 October 2026, the lowest price was Rs. 241 — but it is a ceiling-mounted plastic rack rather than a floor stand, and the next two cheapest, at Rs. 292 and Rs. 300, are a wall rack and another ceiling rack. The cheapest proper floor stand in the read was Rs. 801, a 2-tier Unizone. The shelf ran to Rs. 1,289 at the top. If you mean the wheeled, foldable stand most people picture, budget from roughly Rs. 800 rather than from Rs. 241. Prices change continuously, so check the live page.
We can only report that they do. Nine of the 22 listings seated here state exactly Rs. 5,999 as their MRP — FAVOUR on three listings, Flipkart's own SmartBuy label on three, TNC on two and Best 4U on one — and all nine sell between Rs. 849 and Rs. 1,059. Four further listings, from Unizone and RAFTTAR, state exactly Rs. 4,999. An MRP is the figure a listing displays; we have not verified that any of these stands was ever sold at it, and we are not saying any figure is false. We have also not established any relationship between these companies and allege no coordinated pricing — sellers of a commodity converging on a common list price is an ordinary market outcome. The practical effect is the only point: within that group the discount badge cannot distinguish one stand from another.
Not on this shelf, and the two extremes prove it. The deepest badge in the read, 86% off, belongs to a stand selling at Rs. 849. The shallowest, 29% off, belongs to a stand selling at Rs. 1,281 — 51% more expensive. The reason is that the two listings state very different MRPs: Rs. 5,999 against Rs. 1,800. Read the stated MRPs rather than the badges and the ranking inverts, because a shallow badge on a modest list price can be a more honest number than a deep badge on a large one. Sorting this shelf by discount ranks strike-throughs, not value.
That depends on your space and laundry volume, which this page cannot answer for you — but it is worth knowing that the price will not tell you the tier count. In this read Flipkart printed a tier count on every tile, and it runs from 1 to 5 with almost no relationship to price: a 5-tier wall rack at Rs. 292, a 1-tier Flipkart SmartBuy floor stand at Rs. 986, and one brand selling a 3-tier at Rs. 996 and a 1-tier at Rs. 1,289. Tiers are one of the very few specifications these tiles publish, so it is worth reading the line rather than inferring it. Note that load rating, steel gauge and stability are not published at all, and a heavier single tier may well outlast three light ones.
In this read, a 2-tier Unizone floor stand at Rs. 838 carried 4.0 stars from 2,735 ratings, the largest published sample seated. Next were a 3-tier PROJAIN STEEL at Rs. 996 with 1,171 ratings, a Unizone at Rs. 801 with 1,376 and a Best 4U at Rs. 998 with 1,065. At the other end, four of the 22 seated listings publish no star average and no rating count at all, and two more rest on samples of just six and twenty-nine. Every card on this page prints the count beside the star for that reason. A rating is the listing's own published figure on the date we read it, not our assessment of the product, and a large sample is evidence of popularity rather than of quality.
