Zoutons Picks — Croma, August 2026

Twenty-one MacBooks at exactly 7 per cent off; Windows laptops from 1 per cent to 62. Twenty-three picks from 51 Croma listings.

Prices & codes last verified August 9, 2026

The short of it Croma's own product data, 51 rows read on August 9. Every M5 MacBook is 7 per cent off, except the dearest, at 3. A Rs. 70,990 laptop claims Rs. 1,84,990. A Rs. 1,61,990 one claims Rs. 1,62,995. Forty-nine listings have no rating.

We pulled 51 laptop listings from Croma's own product data on August 9, 2026 and grouped them by manufacturer. Apple's twenty-two rows are a straight line - twenty-one at exactly 7 per cent off, one at 3 - because Apple controls the retail price and the retailer takes a fixed slice. The Windows half of the same shelf runs from 1 per cent to 62, with two Asus TUF A15 rows showing 45 and 4. The only comparison worth making runs across the two halves, on memory and storage, and the discount column hides it entirely.

Every price below was pulled from Croma on August 9, 2026 and checked against the MRP on the listing. Stack them with the live codes on our Croma coupons page, which the deals desk re-verifies daily.

“Apple charges Rs. 22,500 for eight more gigabytes of memory. A Rs. 91,490 Lenovo on the same shelf includes sixteen.” Zoutons Editorial Team

Five rules for buying a laptop here

First: ignore the discount column on Apple entirely - the badge is a fixed 7 per cent on almost every model, so the only decision is the configuration. Second: ignore it on Windows too, because the same TUF A15 family appears here at 45 per cent and 4, and Lenovo spans 9 to 62 across nine rows. Third: compare memory and storage across the two halves of the shelf before you compare anything else, since Apple's upgrades are soldered and priced at Rs. 22,500 for 8GB while Windows machines at half the price ship 16GB. Fourth: accept that this shelf has no customer evidence - 49 of 51 listings carry no rating - so buy on specification, brand record and warranty, the same conclusion this series reached on Croma's tablet shelf and on Reliance Digital's Apple aisle. Fifth: check bank-card offers and exchange bonuses at checkout, which on a Rs. 1.5 lakh machine routinely move more money than any badge on this page.

On the Windows side we left out a second Lenovo LOQ Ryzen 7 at Rs. 1,17,990, a third at Rs. 99,990, a Lenovo Legion 5 at Rs. 1,63,490, a Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 AMD at Rs. 63,990, an HP Victus at Rs. 1,12,990 and three more between Rs. 1,09,490 and Rs. 1,18,990, an HP OmniBook X Flip at Rs. 1,20,999, an HP 15 AMD pair at Rs. 66,990 and Rs. 70,990, and an HP OMEN 16 at Rs. 1,74,990 - each of which repeats a price rung already represented. Nothing was excluded for being a bad machine.

What we look for

We grouped 51 listings by brand before reading any badge

That is what produced this page. Twenty-one of Apple's twenty-two listings are discounted exactly 7 per cent, across a range from Rs. 83,490 to Rs. 2,78,990, and the twenty-second - the dearest laptop on the shelf at Rs. 4,18,990 - carries 3. That is a flat rate applied to a price the manufacturer controls. On the Windows side the same shelf runs from 1 per cent to 62, with HP alone printing 1, 2, 19, 25, 30, 31, 34, 36, 39 and 47, and Lenovo 9 to 62. One of those columns is a constant and the other is noise; neither ranks anything.

We treat a stated MRP as a claim and convert every badge to rupees

The deepest badge in this read, 62 per cent, rests on a claim that a Core i5 thin-and-light with 16GB once sold for Rs. 1,84,990. It now sells for Rs. 70,990, and the claimed saving of Rs. 1,14,000 is larger than most complete laptops on this shelf. At the other end, a Rs. 1,61,990 OMEN claims Rs. 1,62,995 - a gap of Rs. 1,005. Because those two numbers cannot be compared as percentages, every card here prints the rupee price first, the rupee gap second and the badge last, and says where a claim is not credible.

We compare configurations across the Apple and Windows halves of the shelf

It is the only comparison on this page that changes a decision. Apple charges Rs. 22,500 to go from 16GB to 24GB of unified memory and Rs. 33,500 to go from 512GB to 1TB, both unupgradeable later. On the same shelf, a Rs. 1,46,590 HP OMEN ships 24GB and a terabyte, and a Rs. 91,490 Lenovo LOQ ships 16GB as standard. Those are not equivalent machines - battery life, weight, thermals and software all differ - but the money is directly comparable, and the discount column obscures it completely.

We say plainly that this shelf has essentially no customer evidence

Forty-nine of the 51 listings in this read publish no rating at all. The two that do carry one vote each - a 4.0 on a Dell gaming laptop and a 5.0 on a MacBook Air. That is the entire evidential base for a category spanning Rs. 50,990 to Rs. 4,18,990. No rating pill appears anywhere on this page, because there is nothing to put in one. Every recommendation here rests on published specifications and price arithmetic, and nothing on this page was benchmarked, opened, timed or used by us.

FAQs

Why is every MacBook at Croma discounted by the same 7 per cent?

Because Apple controls its retail pricing in India and authorised sellers take a fixed slice off the stated list price rather than setting their own. In our August 9, 2026 read of 51 Croma laptop listings, twenty-one of Apple's twenty-two rows carried exactly 7 per cent off - from a Rs. 83,490 MacBook Neo to a Rs. 2,78,990 MacBook Pro - and the only exception was the dearest laptop on the shelf, a Rs. 4,18,990 16-inch Pro at 3 per cent. In rupees that flat rate ranges from Rs. 6,410 to Rs. 20,910. It means the badge tells you nothing about which Mac to buy; only the configuration does.

Are the big discounts on Windows laptops at Croma real?

The prices are real; the claimed savings frequently are not. The deepest badge in our read was 62 per cent on a Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 selling at Rs. 70,990 against a stated Rs. 1,84,990 - a claimed saving of Rs. 1,14,000 on a Core i5 thin-and-light that has not sold at that price in the Indian market. In the same read, two Asus TUF A15 listings showed 45 per cent and 4 per cent, and HP's thirteen rows spanned 1 to 47. Compare the rupee prices and the specifications across listings instead; the discount column on this shelf is a property of the listing, not the machine.

How much does Apple charge for extra memory and storage at Croma?

Rs. 22,500 for eight more gigabytes of unified memory and Rs. 33,500 for another 512GB of storage, on the same 7 per cent badge as everything else. The 13.6-inch MacBook Air M5 with 16GB/512GB is Rs. 1,39,490, the 16GB/1TB is Rs. 1,72,990 and the 24GB/1TB is Rs. 1,95,490. Both upgrades are soldered and cannot be added later, which is the argument for buying them now. For context, a Rs. 1,46,590 HP OMEN on the same shelf ships 24GB and a terabyte as standard, and a Rs. 91,490 Lenovo LOQ ships 16GB.

What is the cheapest usable laptop on this shelf?

A Dell DC 15250 with a Core 3 processor, 8GB and 512GB at Rs. 50,990 is the floor of the read. For Rs. 13,000 more, an Asus Vivobook 15 at Rs. 63,990 doubles the memory to 16GB, and at Rs. 67,990 an Acer Aspire 14 does the same in a smaller chassis. If gaming or GPU work is the point, the cheapest discrete-graphics machine here is an Asus TUF A15 with a Ryzen 7 at Rs. 72,990, with an HP Victus at Rs. 82,490 just above it. Sixteen gigabytes of memory is the specification worth paying for at this end - it is what decides how the machine feels in its second and third year.

Do Croma laptop listings have customer ratings?

Almost none. Forty-nine of the 51 listings in our August 9, 2026 read published no rating or review count at all, and the two that did carried exactly one vote each - a 4.0 on a Dell G15 gaming laptop and a 5.0 on a MacBook Air. That is the entire customer evidence base for a shelf spanning Rs. 50,990 to Rs. 4,18,990. In practice it means a laptop purchase here has to be made on published specifications, the manufacturer's service record and the warranty terms, and that reading reviews elsewhere before buying is not optional. We have attached no rating pill to any card on this page.

More Croma coverage on Zoutons

How Zoutons picks deals Zoutons may earn a commission when you buy through links on this page. Every price, stated MRP and discount percentage here was read on August 9, 2026 from croma.com's own product API across three queries - laptop, gaming laptop and macbook - with duplicate product codes removed, and all of them can change without notice. That yielded 51 rows, of which we seated 23. The derived figures we quote - that 21 of Apple's 22 listings carry exactly 7 per cent and the twenty-second carries 3, that HP's thirteen rows span 1 to 47 per cent and Lenovo's nine span 9 to 62, that two Asus TUF A15 rows show 45 and 4 per cent, the rupee cost of Apple's memory and storage upgrades, the cross-shelf comparisons of memory and storage against Windows machines, and the rupee value of every discount - are ours, calculated from those rows. Because our queries fixed the categories, these findings describe the 51 listings we read rather than Croma's entire laptop catalogue. A stated MRP is the manufacturer's or seller's own figure and we have not verified that any machine here was ever sold at it; where a claim is not credible on its face - a Rs. 1,84,990 list price on a Core i5 thin-and-light - we say so on the card rather than treating it as a former price. Forty-nine of the 51 listings publish no rating or review count, and the two that do carry a single vote each, so no rating pill appears anywhere on this page and no claim about customer satisfaction is made or implied. We have not used, benchmarked, opened, charged or timed any laptop here. Processor names and generations, unified and system memory figures, SSD capacities, discrete graphics, display sizes, touchscreen and 2-in-1 designs, and operating system versions are quoted from the listings as the manufacturer's or seller's own wording, reported and not endorsed. We have made no assessment of sustained performance, thermals, fan noise, battery life, display quality, keyboard feel or build durability. Statements of category convention - that Apple's unified memory is soldered and cannot be upgraded after purchase, that a Pro chassis with active cooling sustains clock speeds a fanless design cannot, or that 8GB behaves differently under macOS and Windows - reflect general category understanding rather than any testing we performed. Product images are Croma's own listing images, rehosted. Warranty terms, in-store stock, exchange bonuses and bank-card offers should be confirmed before you order.
