Bombay Shaving Company sells razor blades on subscription, and its terms and conditions say the same thing three times in three different sections. "All recurring payments are fully earned upon payment." "All fees related to Subscription Offerings are fully earned upon payment." "Any fees paid hereunder are non-refundable."
Alongside that sits the sentence anyone who signed up on an offer should read: subscriptions renew automatically unless you opt out, "at the then-current non-promotional rate". Below: what cancelling actually does, the termination right that works "with or without cause, with or without notice", the pricing-error clause that applies after you have paid — and the two things these terms do better than most. Published terms only; nothing here is legal advice.

"Fully earned upon payment" appears twice
Bombay Shaving Company sells razor blades on subscription. Its terms and conditions contain a section headed RECURRING BILLING, and this is how it ends:
"Some of the Paid Offerings, such as the purchase of auto-replacing razor blades or other products, may consist of an initial period, for which there is a one-time charge, followed by recurring period charges as agreed to by you. You will have the ability to specify how regularly you would like to order any auto-replacing products. By choosing a recurring payment plan, you acknowledge that such Offerings have an initial and recurring payment feature and you accept responsibility for all recurring charges prior to cancellation. All recurring payments are fully earned upon payment."
The next section, AUTO-REPLENISHMENT FOR SUBSCRIPTION SERVICES, closes with the same construction: "All fees related to Subscription Offerings are fully earned upon payment."
And TERMINATION states it a third way: "Any fees paid hereunder are non-refundable."
"Fully earned upon payment" is a billing term, and what it means is that the money is the company's the moment it is taken — not when the blades ship, not pro-rata across the period you have paid for. This is ordinary subscription drafting and a great many subscription businesses use it. It is worth knowing because it sets the answer to the question most subscribers eventually ask: if I cancel halfway through a paid period, do I get half my money back? On the face of this document, no.
The renewal is at the non-promotional rate
This is the sentence to read before you sign up on an introductory offer, and it is the most consequential one on the page:
"Unless you opt out of auto-replenishment, which can be done through your Account Settings, any subscription services, such as any auto-replacing products (“Subscription Offerings”), you have signed up for will be automatically extended for successive renewal periods of the same duration as the subscription term originally selected, at the then-current non-promotional rate."
Three things in one sentence. Renewal is automatic. It is opt-out, not opt-in — doing nothing renews it. And the renewal price is "the then-current non-promotional rate", which is to say the launch discount, the festive price or the first-box offer that brought you in does not carry forward.
Every part of that is lawful and common across subscription commerce, and the terms do state it plainly rather than burying it. The practical point is arithmetic: if you joined a blade plan on a promotional price, the amount that leaves your account at the next renewal is a different number from the one you agreed to, and the terms do not promise to tell you in advance what it will be. The opt-out is in Account Settings, which is where to look before the term rolls over rather than after.
Cancelling ends the next term, not the one you are in
The same section sets out what cancellation actually does: "You can change or resign your Subscription Service at any time. If you terminate a Subscription Service, you may use your subscription until the end of your then-current term; your subscription will not be renewed after your then-current term expires."
That is the fair reading of "fully earned upon payment" in practice. You keep what you have paid for to the end of the period, and nothing further is taken. You do not get a refund of the unused portion. "Change or resign ... at any time" is a genuinely easy cancellation right and it is better than schemes that require notice periods — compare Plum's user agreement, which asks for termination in writing by registered post.
The company's own termination right is where the asymmetry sits. "We may terminate your access to all or any part of the Offerings at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice, effective immediately, which may result in the forfeiture and destruction of all information associated with your membership. If you wish to terminate your Account, you may do so by following the instructions on the Site or through the Offerings. Any fees paid hereunder are non-refundable."
With or without cause. With or without notice. Effective immediately. Fees non-refundable. Termination clauses of this shape are standard in online terms and nothing here suggests the right is exercised arbitrarily; it is quoted because a reader weighing a twelve-month blade plan is entitled to know that the document permits the account to end without cause and without the money coming back.

The clauses around the money
Three more are worth quoting because they all touch what you pay.
The payment processor is not the brand's responsibility. "We use a third-party payment processor (the “Payment Processor”) to bill you through a payment account linked to your Account ... The processing of payments will be subject to the terms, conditions and privacy policies of the Payment Processor in addition to this Agreement. We are not responsible for errors by the Payment Processor." That carve-out is ordinary, and it means a double charge or a failed refund may be a conversation with two companies rather than one.
A pricing error can be corrected after you have paid. "We reserve the right to correct any errors or mistakes that it makes even if it has already requested or received payment." The wording "that it makes" is the page's own. The practical reading is the same one that applies on the marketplaces: a confirmed order at a surprising price is not a closed sale.
Liability is capped at what you have spent. "In any event the liability of bombayshavingcompany.com, for any loss or damage caused to you, whether direct or indirect, shall not exceed the amounts already paid by you to the bombayshavingcompany.com in relation to the purchase of Offerings through your Account." On a razor subscription that is a small number, and the clause is standard; Dot & Key's terms cap liability the same way.
Disputes go to one place, and the document says so twice in slightly different words: "Courts situated in Delhi, which Courts shall have the exclusive jurisdiction" and "the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at New Delhi." If you are buying from Chennai or Kolkata, that is where a dispute would have to be taken.
What to do before you start a blade plan
Four things, all of them from the document rather than from us. First, find the auto-replenishment switch in Account Settings before you need it — that is where the terms say the opt-out lives, and renewal happens unless you use it. Second, write down what the non-promotional rate is, because that is the number that will be charged at renewal and the terms do not promise to tell you beforehand. Third, do not expect a part refund: payments are "fully earned upon payment" and cancellation lets the current term run out. Fourth, set the delivery frequency to match how fast you actually get through blades — the terms give you that control explicitly, and it is the one lever that changes what a subscription costs over a year.
None of this is a criticism of the product or of the company. Every clause quoted here is ordinary subscription drafting, stated openly in a document anyone can read, and the cancellation right is easier than several brands we read this month. The reason to read it is that a blade subscription is the one purchase on a grooming site that keeps charging you after you have stopped thinking about it.
Nothing on this page is legal advice, and nothing here says Bombay Shaving Company has breached any law, charged anyone improperly or refused any refund. This describes a published document as it stood on 10 October 2026.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get a refund if I cancel a Bombay Shaving subscription?
On the face of the terms read on 10 October 2026, not for the period you have already paid for. The document states "All recurring payments are fully earned upon payment" and "All fees related to Subscription Offerings are fully earned upon payment", and in its termination section, "Any fees paid hereunder are non-refundable." What cancelling does instead: "you may use your subscription until the end of your then-current term; your subscription will not be renewed after your then-current term expires." So the paid period runs out and nothing further is charged. This is ordinary subscription drafting; separate return and refund rules for individual products are published on the brand's own policy pages.
Does a Bombay Shaving subscription renew automatically?
Yes, unless you turn it off. The terms state: "Unless you opt out of auto-replenishment, which can be done through your Account Settings, any subscription services ... will be automatically extended for successive renewal periods of the same duration as the subscription term originally selected, at the then-current non-promotional rate." Three things follow from that: renewal happens by default, the switch is in Account Settings, and the renewal price is the non-promotional one. If you joined on an introductory or festive offer, the amount charged at renewal will be a different figure, and the terms do not promise advance notice of what it is.
How do I cancel a Bombay Shaving blade plan?
The terms say you can do it whenever you like: "You can change or resign your Subscription Service at any time", with the auto-replenishment opt-out available "through your Account Settings", and account closure "by following the instructions on the Site or through the Offerings". There is no notice period and no written-notice requirement, which is easier than several D2C terms pages read this month — Plum's asks for termination by registered post. What cancelling does not do is refund the current term, because fees are stated to be fully earned upon payment.
What happens to my Bombay Shaving account if the company closes it?
The terms give a broad right: "We may terminate your access to all or any part of the Offerings at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice, effective immediately, which may result in the forfeiture and destruction of all information associated with your membership." The same section adds "Any fees paid hereunder are non-refundable", and notes that ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnity and limitations of liability survive termination. Clauses of this shape are standard in online terms and nothing here suggests the right is used arbitrarily; it is quoted because anyone weighing a long blade plan should know what the document permits.
Can someone under 18 buy from Bombay Shaving?
No, per the terms. They state that "Persons who cannot enter into legally binding contracts in accordance with the provisions of the Indian Contract Act, 1872 ... are not entitled to use bombayshavingcompany.com", that "Persons under the age of 18 years but above 13 years of age (“Minors”) may use this Site only under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian", and that "Minors are prohibited from purchasing any material" — only a registered parent or guardian may transact on their behalf. The same section discloses that the site "utilise[s] Google Analytics User-ID mapping features to track the End User", which is unusual to find stated in a terms page rather than a privacy policy.

Zoutons may earn a commission when you buy through links on this page. Every quoted sentence, clause and detail here was read on 10 October 2026 from bombayshavingcompany.com/policies/terms-of-service, logged out, in India, with nothing purchased, no account created, no subscription started, no order placed and customer service not contacted. Quotations are reproduced verbatim from Bombay Shaving Company's own page, including its own spelling, grammar, capitalisation and punctuation — the wording "errors or mistakes that it makes", "immideate" elsewhere in the document, and the doubled "Courts courts" in the jurisdiction clause are the source page's — and any apparent error inside a quotation is the source page's rather than ours and is reproduced rather than corrected. The terms may be changed without notice, so the document described here may already differ from the one that applies to you; the terms shown on bombayshavingcompany.com prevail over anything on this page, as do the Returns and Refund Policy, Product Descriptions and Pricing Information pages which those terms expressly incorporate and which this page does not describe. This page describes published terms and conditions. It does not assess, and expresses no view on, whether any clause quoted above is valid, binding, fair or enforceable, whether a fully-earned-upon-payment provision, an automatic-renewal provision, a non-refundable-fees provision, a termination-without-cause provision, an indemnity or a liability cap would be upheld, or whether the document complies with the Consumer Protection Act, the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, the Guidelines for Prevention and Regulation of Dark Patterns, the Indian Contract Act, 1872, any Reserve Bank of India direction on recurring payments or e-mandates, or any rules made under them — all of which are matters for a court, a consumer forum or a regulator and not for a shopping page. Nothing on this page is legal, contractual, financial or regulatory advice or a substitute for advice from a qualified professional. Reporting that these terms provide for automatic renewal at a non-promotional rate, that recurring payments are stated to be fully earned upon payment, that fees are stated to be non-refundable, and that the company reserves a right to terminate an account with or without cause or notice, is a description of published text only. It is not a statement that Bombay Shaving Company or Visage Lines Personal Care Private Limited has charged any customer improperly, renewed any subscription without authority, refused any refund any customer was entitled to, terminated any account arbitrarily, destroyed any customer's data, or failed any legal obligation, and no such allegation is made or implied. Selling products on an auto-renewing subscription, setting renewal at a standard rather than promotional rate, treating subscription fees as earned on payment, capping liability at amounts paid, reserving a right to correct pricing errors and reserving termination rights are ordinary and lawful commercial practices used widely across subscription commerce, the terms state each of them openly, the cancellation right requires no notice period, and the brand provides an opt-out in Account Settings. Nothing here alleges an unfair trade practice, an unfair contract term, a dark pattern, misleading advertising, deficiency in service, denial of any consumer right or any breach of law, rule or guideline by Visage Lines Personal Care Private Limited, Bombay Shaving Company, any payment processor, or any associated entity, officer or employee, and no wrongdoing is alleged or implied; nor does anything here allege or imply anything about the practices of Plum, Dot & Key, Minimalist, Hammer, Beardo or any other brand whose documents are referred to only as published text. No price, subscription rate, promotional rate, renewal amount, discount or offer is stated anywhere on this page, because the terms do not state any and we did not subscribe to find out; any figures you see at checkout are the operative ones. No product is assessed, tested, compared or recommended on this page, and no claim about any razor, blade, cartridge or grooming product's performance, sharpness, durability or suitability is made or endorsed. Product photographs are the brand's own listing images and may be styled or retouched; the products shown illustrate the kind of purchase these terms govern, are not offers, and their prices are not stated. Terms, policies and prices change without notice; those shown at your own checkout prevail over anything here.
