Thirty kitchen knife sets read on 5 October. On fourteen of them the second figure is a per-piece rate, which is why no badge appears.
Knife sets are advertised on two numbers - how many pieces and how big the percentage is - so it is worth checking what each number is doing. On fourteen of the 30 listings Amazon returned on 5 October, the figure printed where the MRP belongs is the selling price divided by the piece count. Rs. 769 across six pieces prints Rs. 128; Rs. 1,975 across five prints Rs. 395. Since that figure sits below the price, no badge is shown at all. Among the nine listings that do state a real list price, an unbranded set is badged 90% and Victorinox 5%.
Every price below was pulled from Amazon on October 5, 2026 and checked against the MRP on the listing. Stack them with the live codes on our Amazon coupons page, which the deals desk re-verifies daily.
Nine listings carrying a genuine stated MRP above their selling price, badged 90% at the deep end and 7% at the shallow one - with the deep badges on unbranded listings and the shallow ones on Godrej, Rena and Amazon's own label.
An unbranded 3-piece stainless steel set at Rs. 99.
Why it earned its spot The deepest badge in the read, and the cheapest knife on it at Rs. 33.
An ISIRONA 3-piece set at Rs. 210, badged 79%.
Why it earned its spot A second listing stating exactly Rs. 999, at more than twice the price.
An E-COSMOS 3-piece chef, utility and paring set at Rs. 278.
Why it earned its spot 1,922 ratings, the largest pool under Rs. 300 here, at a 44% badge.
A GANESH 3-piece coloured-handle set at Rs. 132.
Why it earned its spot A 46% badge computed from Rs. 243, not from a round Rs. 999.
A CAROTE 12-piece ceramic-coated set with guards at Rs. 1,299.
Why it earned its spot The largest real stated MRP on the shelf, Rs. 2,199, on 3,441 ratings.
A Rena 10-piece serrated set at Rs. 610.
Why it earned its spot The cheapest per knife among sets of six or more pieces here.
An Amazon Brand Solimo 4-piece high-carbon set at Rs. 1,008.
Why it earned its spot The house brand states 1.34x its price, against 10.09x at the shelf's deep end.
A Godrej Cartini 3-piece set at Rs. 440.
Why it earned its spot A household name, a 12% badge and 3,140 ratings behind it.
A Rena 3-piece serrated set at Rs. 199.
Why it earned its spot A Rs. 215 stated MRP on a Rs. 199 knife set - 1.08x, the tightest here.
Ten of the fourteen listings whose 'MRP' is the selling price divided by the piece count - Rs. 139 / 4 = Rs. 34.75, Rs. 2,520 / 7 = Rs. 360 - and which therefore display no discount badge at all.
A Pigeon by Stovekraft 4-piece Edge set at Rs. 139.
Why it earned its spot Rs. 139 / 4 stated pieces = Rs. 34.75. The 'MRP' field prints Rs. 34.
An amazon basics knife set with a pine wood block at Rs. 1,348.
Why it earned its spot Amazon's own house label prints a per-piece rate in the same field.
An AGARO Galaxy set of 4 knives, a scissor and a case at Rs. 769.
Why it earned its spot Six stated pieces, and the 'MRP' is the price divided by six.
An AGARO Royal 6-piece set with cover at Rs. 999.
Why it earned its spot The same brand, the same arithmetic, a different divisor again.
A Kairos 7-piece set with a rotating stand at Rs. 2,520.
Why it earned its spot The dearest listing in the read, and an exact per-piece division.
A Cartini Godrej 5-piece set with a rubber wood holder at Rs. 1,975.
Why it earned its spot Rs. 1,975 / 5 = Rs. 395, and Rs. 395 is what the second field prints.
A Kai 2-piece serrated vegetable knife set at Rs. 297.
Why it earned its spot The smallest divisor on the page: 297 / 2 = Rs. 148.50.
An AGARO Majestic 3-piece set at Rs. 319.
Why it earned its spot A third AGARO listing, a third exact per-piece division.
A 3-piece gold-finish stainless steel knife set at Rs. 499.
Why it earned its spot Rs. 499 / 3 = Rs. 166.33, and the thinnest evidence in this chapter.
A Godrej Cartini premium kitchen knives set at Rs. 550.
Why it earned its spot The ratio lands on three, but this title prints no piece count.
Rs. 807 four times over, against a stated Rs. 850 each time - and 17,908 ratings on two of them, 7,087 on the other two.
A Victorinox Swiss Classic paring knife, 11 cm stated, at Rs. 807.
Why it earned its spot The shallowest badge on the page, on one of its two largest rating pools.
A second Victorinox paring knife at the identical Rs. 807.
Why it earned its spot Same price, same stated MRP, a different rating pool of 7,087.
A third Victorinox paring knife listing at Rs. 807.
Why it earned its spot 4.7 stars from 17,908 ratings - the same pool as the first card in this chapter.
A fourth Victorinox paring knife listing at Rs. 807.
Why it earned its spot Four listings, one price, two rating pools, each appearing twice.
Four rules, all of them arithmetic you can do on the tile. First: if the second figure is lower than the selling price, it is not an MRP. Divide the price by it. If you get a round number between two and fourteen, you are looking at a per-piece rate and the item is not discounted at all - which is why Amazon shows no percentage. Fourteen of the thirty listings here behave this way, including Amazon's own amazon basics and two Godrej listings. Second: where a real badge does appear, read the multiple rather than the percentage. The 90% badge on this page comes from a stated Rs. 999 on a Rs. 99 set - 10.09x - while Rena states 1.08x, Godrej 1.14x and Victorinox 1.05x. Two listings on this shelf state an identical Rs. 999 and sell at Rs. 99 and Rs. 210. Third: convert to a per-knife price before comparing sets, because piece counts here run from two to twelve and 'pieces' sometimes include a scissor, a sharpener, a block or a case. Where the title prints a count, this shelf runs Rs. 33 a knife to Rs. 395 a knife - a twelve-fold spread that no badge on the page reveals. Fourth: check whether the rating count in front of you is the same one you just read. Four Victorinox listings here sell at the identical Rs. 807 and display just two distinct rating counts, 17,908 and 7,087, each twice. If the brief is the cheapest working knife, Rs. 99 buys three of them from a listing with 70 ratings; Rs. 610 buys ten at Rs. 61 each; Rs. 807 buys one Victorinox paring knife with 17,908 ratings behind it. We bought, unboxed, sharpened and cut with nothing.

Each selling price, second figure, displayed badge, star average and rating count on this page was scraped on 5 October 2026 from the search-results tiles amazon.in serves for 'kitchen knife set' and 'chopping board', logged out, in India, with nothing purchased. 30 listings were returned and 23 are seated.
For each of the fourteen affected listings we divide the selling price by the piece count the title itself prints and show the result beside the figure Amazon displays. Rs. 139 / 4 = Rs. 34.75 against a printed Rs. 34; Rs. 2,520 / 7 = Rs. 360 against a printed Rs. 360. Divisors range from two to fourteen, which is what rules out coincidence.
Two seated listings - the amazon basics block set at a ratio of 14.04 and the Godrej Cartini set at 3.005 - have titles that do not print a count. Those cards report the two figures and the ratio and stop there. We did not open product pages to confirm piece counts for this read.
Nine of the 30 listings state an MRP above their selling price, and only those nine carry a badge on Amazon's tile. The 90%-to-7% range on this page describes those nine. The fourteen per-piece listings are not described as 0% off, because nothing has been discounted and the tile claims nothing.
On this shelf the deepest badge sits on 70 ratings and a 3.1 star average on 14, while amazon basics carries 21,776 and Victorinox 17,908. A star average without its sample size is not readable, so every card prints both and no card treats a small-sample average as a verdict.
'High carbon', 'stainless steel', 'ultra sharp', 'professional', 'ceramic coated', 'Swiss Made', 'non-slip' and every stated blade length and piece count are the listings' own printed words, reproduced as printed. We did not buy, unbox, sharpen or cut with anything, and nothing here is a statement about sharpness, steel grade, edge retention, dishwasher safety or fitness for any purpose.
Because on this shelf that field is frequently carrying a per-piece rate rather than a list price. In this read of 30 listings on 5 October 2026, 14 printed a second figure below the selling price, and in every case where the title stated a piece count, the selling price divided by that count produced the printed figure - Rs. 139 / 4 = Rs. 34.75 against a printed Rs. 34, Rs. 999 / 6 = Rs. 166.50 against Rs. 166. Amazon displays no discount badge on those tiles, so nothing is being claimed; the figure simply is not the number it looks like.
In this read, complete sets ran from Rs. 99 to Rs. 2,520 and single knives from Rs. 403 to Rs. 807. Converted to a price per knife using the piece count each title states, the sets ran Rs. 33 to Rs. 395 a knife. The cheapest set was an unbranded three-piece at Rs. 99; the cheapest per knife among sets of six pieces or more was a Rena ten-piece at Rs. 61 a knife. Prices change continuously, so check the live page.
Every percentage is arithmetic over two numbers a seller chose. On this shelf the arithmetic points somewhere specific: the 90% badge sat on a stated Rs. 999 against a Rs. 99 price with 70 ratings behind it, while the shallowest badges - 7% from Rena, 5% from Victorinox - sat on stated MRPs 1.08 and 1.05 times their prices. A second listing stated the same Rs. 999 and sold at Rs. 210. We have not verified that any item here was ever sold at its stated MRP, and nothing here alleges wrongdoing by anyone.
We can only report what the search returned. Four Victorinox Swiss Classic paring-knife listings appeared at an identical Rs. 807 against an identical stated Rs. 850, badged 5%. Two displayed 4.7 stars from 17,908 ratings and the other two displayed 4.7 from 7,087 - two distinct pools across four listings, differing by stated blade length, 10 cm and 11 cm. Rating counts attach to a product record rather than to a listing, so an identical count on two results is one body of reviews shown twice. We did not open the product pages, and nothing improper is alleged.
Not on these 30 listings. A 12-piece CAROTE set at Rs. 1,299 worked out at Rs. 108.25 a piece, while a 5-piece Cartini set at Rs. 1,975 worked out at Rs. 395 a piece and a 10-piece Rena set at Rs. 610 came to Rs. 61. It also matters what a 'piece' is: on this shelf the counts include scissors, sharpeners, covers, wooden cases and knife blocks as pieces. We counted pieces exactly as the titles print them and did not verify any count or cut with any knife.
