“Nineteen different sandals, three price points, one stated MRP. The price is a shelf position, not a valuation.” Zoutons Editorial Team

Four rules for buying sandals on a marketplace

First: check whether the price is a tier - if five other listings share it to the rupee, the number was chosen for the shelf and not for the shoe. Second: read the MRP against the seller, not the product; a brand with its own stores has a list price to discount from and a marketplace label does not. Third: buy the construction you can name - a footbed, a slingback, a velcro strap - because at these prices nothing else separates one synthetic sandal from another. Fourth: check the live coupon page before checkout, the same discipline we applied to AJIO men's shirt prices, because AJIO's own coupon thresholds are easier to clear on two pairs than on one.

What we skipped — and why

What we skipped, and why: 94 of the 118 listings under the cap, and 95 more above it. The largest single group we dropped is the tiers themselves - we have seated one example each from the Rs. 460 and Rs. 560 groups rather than nine more sandals that differ only in strap shape while sharing a price and an MRP, because printing all nineteen would pad the page without telling you anything the two examples do not. We also dropped listings whose catalogue images duplicate a seated pick, the three repeated KOBURG entries at Rs. 523 and Rs. 576, and every row above Rs. 800, which is a different shelf bought on different reasoning. Nothing was dropped for being cheap or for an implausible MRP: the Rs. 140 floor and the Rs. 4,299 claim are both seated precisely because they mark the edges of what this shelf does.

What we look for

We rank by the price you pay, and print the stated MRP as a claim

On this shelf the MRP is frequently not a property of the product at all. Ten listings sell at exactly Rs. 560 and every one states Rs. 1,999. Six sell at exactly Rs. 460 and every one states Rs. 1,999. Three sell at Rs. 520 and, again, all state Rs. 1,999. That is nineteen different sandals from four sellers across three price points sharing a single list price, which is a shelf convention rather than a set of independent valuations. We therefore sort by the rupee price you actually pay and report every MRP as the figure the listing states, never as a price anything was sold at.

We name the house labels, because they are the control group

MAX, Bata and Ginger are Lifestyle-group brands with physical stores, and they behave completely differently on this shelf: stated MRPs of Rs. 399, Rs. 499, Rs. 549, Rs. 599, Rs. 649 and Rs. 699, and badges of 8, 13, 17, 18, 20, 23, 30 and 45 per cent. Campus, a sports-shoe maker with its own distribution, does the same at 17 per cent. Those small badges are not worse deals - they are what a discount looks like when someone had a real list price to discount from. Reading them beside the 77 and 89 per cent claims is the fastest way to understand what the big badges mean.

We say what the sandal is actually built for, because the difference is in the footbed

Almost every listing on this shelf is a synthetic upper on a moulded sole, and the price does not sort them by quality. What does sort them is construction you can name: a contoured footbed (the MAX at Rs. 449) supports an arch where a flat plank does not; a slingback (the Bata at Rs. 459) holds the heel so the shoe stays on at walking pace; velcro (the Red Tape at Rs. 480, the KOBURG at Rs. 523) lets a wide foot be accommodated; a woven strap spreads pressure. We have said in each entry which of those the money buys, because on this page it is a better guide than either the badge or the brand.

We do not publish ratings here, because AJIO's catalogue does not return them

The AJIO catalogue rows this page is built from carry a price, an MRP, a brand, a name and an image, and no rating or rating count for any of the 213 listings we pulled. We could have quoted star ratings scraped from individual product pages, but a rating read from a different source at a different moment is not comparable across a shelf, and a page that shows some ratings and not others invites exactly the wrong inference about the ones left blank. So this read is built on prices, list prices and construction, and where we have nothing to tell you about how a sandal wears, we have said so rather than filled the space.

FAQs

Why do so many AJIO sandals show the same Rs. 1,999 MRP?

Because on this shelf the MRP is attached to a price tier rather than to a shoe. In our read of 118 listings under Rs. 800 on 19 August 2026, ten different sandals from SHEZONE and Shoetopia sold at exactly Rs. 560 and every one stated an MRP of Rs. 1,999, producing an identical 72 per cent badge. Six more sold at exactly Rs. 460, again all stating Rs. 1,999, at 77 per cent. Three at Rs. 520 did the same. These are genuinely different shoes - T-strap, slingback, open-toe, round-toe, platform - so the shared list price is a shelf convention, not nineteen independent valuations. The practical consequence is simple: the badge tells you which tier a sandal sits in and nothing about what it is worth.

Which are the best sandals under Rs. 500 on AJIO?

On construction rather than on badge, the Bata colourblock slingback at Rs. 459 and the MAX slip-on with a moulded footbed at Rs. 449. The Bata carries the smallest discount in the entire read - 8 per cent off a stated Rs. 499 - which is a good sign rather than a bad one, because Bata has its own stores and therefore a real list price to discount from; a slingback also holds the heel, so it stays on at a walking pace where a plain slip-on flat does not. The MAX at Rs. 449 adds a contoured footbed, which is the difference between a sandal that is comfortable after twenty minutes and one that is not. Below Rs. 400, the MAX flat at Rs. 279 and the Bata round-toe at Rs. 357 follow the same logic.

Are AJIO's cheap flip-flops worth buying?

For what a flip-flop is, yes - and this shelf is where the money goes furthest, as long as you buy on the price rather than the percentage. The aadi men's EVA flip-flop at Rs. 220 claims 89 per cent off a stated Rs. 1,999, which is the largest badge in our read and worth ignoring entirely; what you get is a light, waterproof, essentially disposable moulded sandal, which is a reasonable Rs. 220 purchase. Rs. 88 more buys the Red Tape PU flip-flop at Rs. 308 with a contoured footbed, and Rs. 129 more buys the MAX at Rs. 349 with a PU upper and a 13 per cent badge off a believable Rs. 399. If the flip-flop is for a bathroom or a beach, buy the cheapest. If it is going to be worn for hours, pay for the footbed.

Do the sandals on AJIO come with ratings?

Not in the catalogue data this page is built on. All 213 rows we pulled on 19 August 2026 returned a price, a stated MRP, a brand, a product name and an image, and no rating or rating count for any listing - which is why no ratings appear anywhere on this page. Individual AJIO product pages do sometimes carry reviews, but a rating read from a different source at a different moment is not comparable across a shelf, and showing ratings for some listings and blanks for others invites exactly the wrong inference about the blanks. So we have built this read on prices, list prices and construction instead, and where we cannot tell you how a sandal wears, we have said so.

Do AJIO coupons work on sandals that are already discounted?

Generally yes, and on this shelf the coupon matters more than the badge does. AJIO's own coupons are typically applied to the cart total after each listing's discount and carry a minimum-spend threshold, which is the reason two pairs of Rs. 460 sandals will often clear a threshold that one pair will not - a genuinely useful thing to know on a shelf where most of the stock sits between Rs. 300 and Rs. 600. Bank offers are applied separately at the payment step and stack on top. We did not test any code at checkout for this page and will not quote a figure we have not seen applied. What this read gives you is the baseline to beat on 19 August 2026: Rs. 140 at the floor, Rs. 449 to Rs. 459 for the best-constructed sandals under Rs. 500, and Rs. 790 at the top of the band.

More AJIO coverage on Zoutons

How Zoutons picks deals Zoutons may earn a commission when you buy through links on this page. Every price, stated MRP and discount percentage here was read on 19 August 2026 from AJIO's own catalogue API across three queries - women sandals, women flats and men sandals - which returned 213 rows, of which 118 sit under Rs. 800 carrying both a price and an MRP; 24 are seated. AJIO prices change frequently and its coupon thresholds change with them, so a listing's price can differ again at checkout - re-check before paying. An MRP is the figure the listing states and we have not verified that any sandal here was ever sold at it; the pattern this page is built on, in which nineteen listings across three price points all state Rs. 1,999, is arithmetic over the rows we pulled and not an allegation about any seller's intent. AJIO's catalogue returns no rating or rating count for any of these listings, so no ratings appear anywhere on this page and none should be inferred from their absence. Upper materials, sole types, footbeds and fastenings are quoted from the listing text and are reported rather than verified; we have not handled, worn or measured any sandal here, and we have made no assessment of how any of them wears over time. MAX, Ginger and Bata's listings here are Lifestyle-group brands, and YOUSTA is AJIO's own label, which we have said where they appear.
