We read both shoe rack shelves on the afternoon of 20 September 2026 - 213 listings on Flipkart, 74 on Amazon - and the first figure out of the data settles what kind of comparison this is. Flipkart's median listing costs Rs. 400 and 201 of its 213 listings are under Rs. 1,000. Amazon's median is Rs. 2,995 and only 19 of 74 are under Rs. 1,000.
These are not two versions of the same shelf. Flipkart's shoe rack aisle is overwhelmingly plastic stands and pipe racks between Rs. 178 and Rs. 400, sold by marketplace labels nobody has heard of. Amazon's is dominated by cabinets and furniture - DeckUp, Nilkamal, BOXJOY, IKEA, Cello - with 55 of its 74 listings at Rs. 1,000 or more.
Both shelves reach roughly the same ceiling (Rs. 17,847 on Flipkart, Rs. 26,999 on Amazon) and start within twenty rupees of each other (Rs. 178 against Rs. 199). Everything in between is differently distributed, which means the honest answer to 'which is cheaper' depends entirely on what you are buying.

The ratings reverse the pattern you would expect
Amazon publishes a rating count on 72 of its 74 listings and Flipkart on only 85 of 213. On that measure Amazon looks like the better-evidenced shelf. Then look at the size of the samples.
Where Flipkart publishes a count, the median is 1,846. Its best-evidenced listing is a Rs. 198 FLIPZON metal stand with 4.0 from 74,391 ratings; an RKE rack at Rs. 200 shows 29,273 and a KOnlineShop pipe rack at Rs. 283 shows 20,668. Amazon's median count is 190, and its largest is 33,446 on an Ebee collapsible stand at Rs. 397.
So Flipkart tells you nothing about 128 of its listings and a great deal about the other 85. Amazon tells you a little about almost everything. The 128 Flipkart listings with no ratings are not randomly spread either: they cluster on the Rs. 998 cabinets, where 56 listings share one price under five seller names and not one publishes a rating.
₹ The rule that falls out of this page. Count the ratings before you compare the prices. A Rs. 198 rack with 74,391 ratings and a Rs. 998 cabinet with none are not two points on one shelf - they are a known quantity and an unknown one. On both platforms the discount badge tells you nothing: Flipkart's median claim is 74 per cent and Amazon's is 50, on shelves that overlap for about fifteen products.
Two brands sell on both - and the cheaper listing has no feedback behind it
Only two brand names appear on both shelves in our read, and both tell the same story. NextZen is the largest single label on Flipkart with 33 listings, priced Rs. 200 to Rs. 289 and badged 83 to 86 per cent off stated MRPs of Rs. 1,399 to Rs. 1,899 - and not one of those 33 listings publishes a rating. The brand's single Amazon listing is a six-layer stand at Rs. 382, badged 62 per cent off a stated Rs. 999, with 3.2 from 111 ratings.
STELITE is Rs. 336 on Flipkart (81 per cent off a stated Rs. 1,799, 909 ratings) against Rs. 399 on Amazon (75 per cent off a stated Rs. 1,599, six ratings). Same brand, Rs. 63 apart, and the cheaper listing is the better-evidenced one this time.
Neither pair is a matched model - the listings describe different tier counts and finishes - so we are not claiming a like-for-like price gap. What the pairs show is that one brand can run 33 unrated listings at Rs. 200 on one marketplace and a single rated listing at Rs. 382 on the other, with the MRP field set differently in each place.

One Amazon listing states an MRP of Rs. 80,910 on a Rs. 809 rack
Amazon's deepest badge in this read is 99 per cent, and it comes from an SR rattan-pattern multi-tier rack selling at Rs. 809 against a stated MRP of Rs. 80,910 - a hundredfold figure of the kind we have now found on three Amazon shelves this month. It is plainly a data-entry error in the MRP field rather than a price cut, and we quote no percentage from it anywhere else on this page.
Flipkart's deepest badge is 93 per cent, and its version of the same problem is structural rather than typographical: 56 of its 213 listings cost exactly Rs. 998, under five seller names, against four different stated MRPs (Rs. 1,299, Rs. 2,199, Rs. 2,999 and Rs. 4,999), so identical money carries badges of 23, 55, 67 and 80 per cent.
The shallow ends are more interesting than the deep ones. Flipkart's smallest claim is 16 per cent on a KRUGER wall-mounted cabinet at Rs. 5,756, which is also the highest-rated listing on that shelf at 4.3 from 1,004. Amazon's is 7 per cent on an Ebee metal rack at Rs. 699, rated 2.8 from 108 - the lowest average in either read. Small badges are not a quality signal on their own; they just mean the seller typed a believable MRP.

An ALOXE listing describing the same DIY foldable four-layer format sits at Rs. 1,099 against the identical stated MRP of Rs. 4,499, with 3.6 from 524. Two hundred rupees separates them; the house-brand listing has eighteen times the feedback and a full point better average.
Amazon's other own-label entry, the Solimo Hex four-tier wooden rack at Rs. 2,499, has two ratings - a reminder that a house brand is not automatically a well-evidenced one.

There is no shelf-wide winner, because the two shelves barely sell the same things. Above Rs. 1,000, Amazon is the shelf: 55 of its 74 listings are cabinets and furniture from Nilkamal, Cello, BOXJOY, IKEA, DeckUp and amazon basics, most with samples in the hundreds or thousands. Flipkart has twelve listings in that whole band.
What we would not do on either: buy from a badge.
