The rate is set per brand, and the brands printing an ingredient percentage set theirs near zero. Seven Kimirica listings, one number.
We read Nykaa's own search response on July 29, 2026 across six bath-and-body searches — body wash, body lotion, soap, body scrub, hand wash and body butter — and collected 107 in-stock discounted listings, from a Rs. 91 hand wash refill to a Rs. 4,124 body butter. Two things fell out of the data, and they explain each other. The first is that the discount is set per brand rather than per product. All seven Kimirica listings we read sat at exactly 25% off. All six Sol de Janeiro listings sat at exactly 20%. All four CeraVe listings sat at exactly 10%. Those are not markdowns on individual items; they are single decisions applied to a whole catalogue, and the practical consequence is that waiting for a better price on a particular product from one of those brands is waiting for something our data gives no sign of. The second is what decides which number a brand gets, and it is not popularity. It is what the label commits to. The deep end of this aisle is fragrance: Nykaa's own Wanderlust range at a median 45% off, Dove reaching 50%, NIVEA at 40%. The shallow end is anything that prints a specific active at a specific concentration — a 4% lactic acid body wash at 5% off, a 1% salicylic acid wash at 7%, ceramide creams at 10%, Cetaphil at 12%, a 10% AHA scrub at 13%. The audiences are comparable on both sides, which is what rules popularity out: a Cetaphil lotion with 210,764 ratings sits at 12% while a Wanderlust body wash with 1,015,981 sits at 45%. A claim like '72-hour moisture' or 'dewy radiance' is a marketing statement and can be discounted freely. A printed concentration is a specification a chemist could check, and brands built on those do not appear to need a badge. None of that makes the cheap end bad — a Rs. 175 scrub with 189,552 ratings behind it is exactly what it says it is — but it does mean the two halves of this aisle should be shopped in completely different ways. Our skincare rating-counts piece looks at what those samples can support, and our impulse-versus-need piece covers the same split in another aisle.

Rs. 379 at 5% off — twenty rupees, the shallowest badge of all 107 listings.

Four rules follow from a read where the rate is a brand-level setting. First: on the clinical half, buy when you need it. If every CeraVe listing is at exactly 10% and every Be Bodywise listing sits between 7% and 17%, there is no better moment to wait for, and stockpiling on a badge that never moves achieves nothing. Second: on the fragrance half, buy on price per unit rather than on the badge — a house-brand body butter at Rs. 275 and an imported one at Rs. 896 are the same category of product, and the cheaper one carries the bigger discount as well. Third: divide wherever a pack exists. Rs. 285 for five soap bars is Rs. 57 a bar, and the eight-bar pack from the same brand at Rs. 470 works out at Rs. 59 — the bigger pack is dearer per unit, which no badge on either listing tells you. Fourth: read the label for a number. A stated concentration — 1% salicylic acid, 10% lactic acid, 5% niacinamide — is a fact you can act on; 'brightening', 'radiance' and '72-hour moisture' are not, and in this data they are also the claims attached to the deepest discounts. Our Nykaa coupon page tracks the codes and bank offers that move the final number, and our fragrance piece and Nykaa vs Purplle comparison are worth a cross-check.

Every price, stated MRP, rating and rating count here comes from Nykaa's own search response on July 29, 2026 — 107 in-stock discounted listings across body wash, body lotion, soap, body scrub, hand wash and body butter. We pulled the whole aisle in one sitting rather than a single category, because the pattern on this page is only visible when a house-brand shower gel and a ceramide cream sit in the same table.
All seven Kimirica listings sat at exactly 25% off. All six Sol de Janeiro listings at exactly 20%. All four CeraVe listings at exactly 10%. Those are not markdowns on individual products; they are one decision applied to a catalogue, which means waiting for a better price on a particular item from those brands is waiting for something that does not appear to happen.
The deep end of the aisle is fragrance: Nykaa's own Wanderlust label at a median 45%, Dove up to 50%, NIVEA at 40%. The shallow end is anything stating a specific active — 4% lactic acid at 5% off, 1% salicylic acid at 7%, ceramides at 10%, Cetaphil at 12%, 10% AHA at 13%. Popularity does not explain it: a Cetaphil lotion with 210,764 ratings sits at 12% while a house-brand wash with 1,015,981 sits at 45%. This is our reading of the pattern, not a statement by Nykaa or by any brand named.
A duration claim like 72-hour moisture and an appearance claim like dewy radiance can be discounted freely; a printed concentration is a specification the brand prices around. We show a rating pill only where Nykaa returned a real score and a real count, and we say the count out loud, because 4.5 across 44 ratings and 4.4 across a million are not the same claim. Where a multipack exists we divide — Rs. 285 for five soap bars is Rs. 57 a bar, and the bigger eight-bar pack works out dearer. Prices read July 29, 2026.
Because their rate appears to be set at brand level and set low. In our July 29, 2026 read, all four CeraVe listings sat at exactly 10% off — not 9%, not 12%, on any of them — and Cetaphil's four ran between 9% and 12%. Both are built on formulation claims rather than on scent, and brands in that position do not seem to need a badge to sell. The practical answer is to buy when you need it: our data gives no sign of a better moment arriving.
On price and popularity, yes, provided you know what you are buying it for. It carried the deepest rates in our read at a median 45% off across nine listings, the body scrub sells at Rs. 175 and the body wash at Rs. 219, and the ratings behind them are enormous — 189,552 and 1,015,981 respectively. These are fragrance-led products bought for scent and feel, not products making an ingredient claim, and at that price they are straightforwardly good value. They are not substitutes for anything in the last two chapters of this page.
Because the reference price differs, and on Nykaa the rate is usually a brand-level decision rather than a product one. All seven Kimirica listings in our read sat at exactly 25% and all six Sol de Janeiro at exactly 20%, regardless of what the individual product was. So a badge is telling you which brand you are looking at rather than how good that particular deal is, and comparing checkout prices for products that do the same job is the only reliable method.
They are different tools rather than better and worse. A physical scrub with coffee grains or pomegranate seeds works on the surface immediately; an AHA or BHA product works chemically over weeks and its strength depends on both concentration and contact time, which in a rinse-off wash is short. Our picks include both — a Dove polish at Rs. 629 rated 4.6 and a 10% AHA lactic acid scrub at Rs. 349. If you have body acne, sensitised skin or pigmentation you are treating, ask a dermatologist rather than choosing by badge.
Divide by the unit and buy refills. The best per-unit price in our picks is a five-bar Fiama gel pack at Rs. 285, which is Rs. 57 a bar — and notably the eight-bar pack from the same brand at Rs. 470 works out at Rs. 59, so the larger pack is dearer per bar. Hand wash refill pouches were the cheapest items in the whole read at Rs. 91, and they carried some of the smallest badges, at 8%. On staples, the pack format saves you more than the percentage ever will.
