Nobody reads a shoe brand's privacy policy. This one is worth four minutes, because it contains a sentence that explains something most shoppers have noticed and never had confirmed: why the ads following you around seem to know what you looked at somewhere else entirely.

Neeman's policy says it uses "Shopify to support personalized advertising with third-party services based on your online activity with different merchants and websites". Not this shop. Other shops.

We read the page on 13 October 2026, logged out, in India, with nothing bought. It is stamped "Last updated: August 25, 2026". Below: that disclosure in full, the rights section and why every entry in it begins with "may have", an unusually honest paragraph about security, and the retention period that is not there. Everything is quoted verbatim, and none of it is legal advice.

The sentence that explains the ads you see

Most privacy policies describe advertising in the abstract. Neeman's names the mechanism, and the scope of it is wider than the shop you are standing in.

Verbatim: "With business and marketing partners to provide marketing services and advertise to you. For example, we use Shopify to support personalized advertising with third-party services based on your online activity with different merchants and websites."

Read the last six words again. The advertising you are shown is informed not only by what you did on neemans.com, but by activity across other merchants on the same underlying platform. That is how a great deal of modern e-commerce advertising works — and the notable thing here is that the policy says so plainly instead of burying it under "we may share data with partners".

The platform dependency is stated just as directly elsewhere: "The Services are hosted by Shopify, which collects and processes personal information about your access to and use of the Services… Information you submit to the Services will be transmitted to and shared with Shopify." We read the page on 13 October 2026; it is stamped "Last updated: August 25, 2026".

Verbatim, from Neeman's privacy policy, read 13 October 2026: "For example, we use Shopify to support personalized advertising with third-party services based on your online activity with different merchants and websites."

Every right on the page is a "may have"

The rights section is where a privacy policy either commits to something or does not. This one is written almost entirely in conditionals, and the pattern is consistent enough to be deliberate drafting rather than sloppiness.

RightThe policy's wordingHow it is framed
Access / know"You may have a right to request access to personal information that we hold about you."Conditional
Delete"You may have a right to request that we delete personal information we maintain about you."Conditional
Correct"You may have a right to request that we correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you."Conditional
Portability"You may have a right to receive a copy… in certain circumstances and with certain exceptions."Conditional, twice over
Opt out of sale / targeted ads"Depending on where you reside, you may have a right to opt out of the ‘sale’ or ‘share’ of your personal information"Explicitly location-dependent
Object to or restrict processing"If you reside in the UK or European Economic Area… you may exercise the following rights in addition to the rights outlined above"Named for UK/EEA residents
Withdraw consent"Where we rely on consent to process your personal information, you have the right to withdraw this consent"Stated flatly — but inside the UK/EEA block
No retaliation"We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights."An unqualified commitment, and a good one

The structural point is the last two rows. Objection, restriction of processing and withdrawal of consent are introduced with the words "If you reside in the UK or European Economic Area… you may exercise the following rights in addition to the rights outlined above". The broader rights above are each hedged with "may have"; the firmer ones are placed inside a block addressed to UK and EEA readers.

This is a description of how the document is written, and nothing more. It is not a statement about what rights an Indian reader does or does not have. Data rights come from law, not from a shop's policy page, and what any individual is entitled to is a matter for the applicable law and for a regulator or court — not for this page. Nothing here is legal advice.

What the policy does commit to without hedging is worth quoting too: "We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights." That is unqualified, and it is the kind of line a weaker policy leaves out.

An unusually honest paragraph about security

Brands tend to describe their own security in superlatives. Neeman's does the opposite, and it is the most creditable passage on the page:

"Please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee ‘perfect security’. In addition, any information you send to us may not be secure while in transit. We recommend that you do not use unsecure channels to communicate sensitive or confidential information…"

That is accurate, and most pages will not say it. For a direct comparison from the same category: Perfora's privacy page — another Indian D2C brand, which we read the same day and wrote up separately — states that its website "has stringent security measures in place" and that it adheres to "strict security". Two brands, two very different registers for describing the same unknowable thing. We are reporting what each page says, not ranking the actual security of either, which we have no way to assess.

What it does not tell you: how long anything is kept

There is no retention period anywhere on this page. What there is instead: "How long we retain your personal information depends on different factors, such as whether we need the information to maintain your account, to provide you with Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes or enforce other applicable contracts and policies."

No number, no outer limit, no trigger for deletion. That phrasing is near-universal in Shopify-based policies and is not peculiar to this brand, which is worth saying plainly rather than presenting it as a Neeman's-specific failing.

Data also leaves the country, and the policy says so: "Please note that we may transfer, store and process your personal information outside the country you live in." Specific safeguards are then named — for one direction of travel: "If we transfer your personal information out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we will rely on recognized transfer mechanisms like the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses." No equivalent mechanism is named for transfers out of India.

Two practical things you can do today, both grounded in the quoted text: use the unsubscribe link rather than assuming an account setting covers it — the policy says promotional email opt-out works "by using the unsubscribe option displayed in our emails", and that even then "we may still send you non-promotional emails"; and if you want to exercise any data right, use the published contact details below rather than a contact form, because the policy routes requests through them.
The rest of what the policy says, quoted verbatim
  • What it collects: "Account information including your username, password, security questions, preferences and settings", plus information gathered "Automatically through the Services including from your device… and through the use of cookies and similar technologies" and "From our partners or other third parties."
  • Marketing channels: "to send marketing, advertising and promotional communications by email, text message or postal mail, and to show you online advertisements".
  • Who it shares with: "With Shopify, vendors and other third parties who perform services on our behalf (e.g. IT management, payment processing, data analytics, customer support, cloud storage, fulfillment and shipping)."
  • Children: "The Services are not intended to be used by children, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information about children under the age of majority in your jurisdiction" — a jurisdictional formula rather than a stated age.
  • Third-party links: "If you follow links to sites not affiliated or controlled by us, you should review their privacy and security policies… We do not guarantee and are not responsible for" them.
  • Complaints, and an appeal: "If you have complaints about how we process your personal information, please contact us… Depending on where you live, you may have the right to appeal our decision".
  • Identity checks: "We may need to verify your identity before we can process your requests", and you "may designate an authorized agent".
  • Published contact details: "please call +91 95 5047 8833 or email us at tchhabra@neemans.com or contact us at Neemans Private Limited" — a phone number, a named individual's address and the registered entity, which is more than many D2C policies publish.

The fair summary

This is a competent, recently updated, Shopify-shaped privacy policy, and it is more candid than most in two specific places — it admits it cannot promise perfect security, and it tells you that personalised advertising draws on your activity across other merchants. Both of those are things a less careful page would simply not mention.

Where it is weakest is the same place almost every page in this category is weakest: no retention period, rights expressed as conditionals, and the firmest commitments addressed to UK and EEA readers rather than to the Indian customers the shop actually sells to. That is a drafting observation about one document, not an allegation about anyone's compliance with any law.

If you want to act on any of it, the contact details are published and specific: a phone number, an email address and a named company. That is the part of a privacy policy that most often turns out to be missing, and here it is not.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Neeman's share my data for advertising?
Its privacy policy says it uses partners for marketing and names the mechanism: "we use Shopify to support personalized advertising with third-party services based on your online activity with different merchants and websites". It also lists sharing "With Shopify, vendors and other third parties who perform services on our behalf (e.g. IT management, payment processing, data analytics, customer support, cloud storage, fulfillment and shipping)". The notable part is different merchants and websites — the targeting is not limited to what you did on neemans.com. Read 13 October 2026 from the policy stamped "Last updated: August 25, 2026".
How long does Neeman's keep my personal information?
The policy does not say, and gives a reason rather than a period: "How long we retain your personal information depends on different factors, such as whether we need the information to maintain your account, to provide you with Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes or enforce other applicable contracts and policies." There is no number, no outer limit and no stated deletion trigger anywhere on the page. This phrasing is standard across Shopify-based policies rather than specific to this brand. To ask about your own data, the policy directs you to its published contact details.
What rights does Neeman's privacy policy give me over my data?
It lists access, deletion, correction, portability and opting out of "sale" or "share" — but each is framed conditionally: "You may have a right to request access…", "You may have a right to request that we delete…", and the opt-out is "Depending on where you reside". A further block — objection, restriction and withdrawal of consent — is introduced with "If you reside in the UK or European Economic Area". Data rights come from law, not from a policy page. What any individual is entitled to is a matter for the applicable law and a regulator or court, and nothing here is legal advice. The policy does commit flatly that "We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights."
Is my data safe with Neeman's?
We cannot tell you that, and creditably, neither does the policy. It states: "Please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee ‘perfect security’. In addition, any information you send to us may not be secure while in transit. We recommend that you do not use unsecure channels to communicate sensitive or confidential information." That is an honest statement of a real limitation and more than many comparable pages offer. This page reports what the document says; we have not assessed, audited or tested the security of any website or service and make no claim about it.
How do I contact Neeman's about my personal data?
The policy publishes direct details rather than only a web form: "please call +91 95 5047 8833 or email us at tchhabra@neemans.com or contact us at Neemans Private Limited". It adds that "We may need to verify your identity before we can process your requests", that you "may designate an authorized agent", and that complaints go to the same contact point — with, "Depending on where you live… the right to appeal our decision". Contact details are reproduced as published on 13 October 2026 and may change.

Whether a particular right is available to a particular person, and whether any processing described is lawful, are matters for the applicable law and for a regulator or a court, not for this page; data rights arise from law rather than from a policy document, and nothing here limits any right anyone has. We have not assessed, audited, tested or verified the security of neemans.com, Shopify or any other service, and nothing on this page is a representation that any personal information is or is not secure.
