Ninety-four caps, mufflers and gloves read on one afternoon. Three mufflers claiming MRPs of Rs. 2,299 to Rs. 2,999 all sell for around Rs. 400, and none of them has a single rating.
We read ninety-four cap, beanie, muffler, scarf and glove listings on myntra.com on 12 September 2026, and the discount badge turned out to be describing something other than the price. One muffler is 60% off and costs Rs. 349. Another is 86% off and costs Rs. 356. The difference between them is not seven rupees of value; it is that the second one is discounted from a stated Rs. 2,499 rather than a stated Rs. 879. Across the shelf, the deepest badges sit on the highest claimed MRPs.
Every price below was pulled from Myntra on September 12, 2026 and checked against the MRP on the listing. Stack them with the live codes on our Myntra coupons page, which the deals desk re-verifies daily.

First: read the rupee price before the percentage. On this shelf the badge is largely a function of the stated MRP, and an 86% listing and a 60% listing sit seven rupees apart. Second: check whether a rating count is shared - Myntra pools ratings across colourways, and two SELLORIA caps here show an identical 1,085, the same trap we documented on Myntra's sock shelf. Third: read the season out of the title, because in September this aisle is half summer - the best-rated cap in this read calls itself a summer beret, and two of the cheapest gloves are sun-protection driving gloves. Fourth: count the pieces. A kids' beanie pack of three here works out at Rs. 99.67 each, which is less than half the cheapest single beanie on the shelf.

Ninety-four cap, beanie, muffler, scarf and glove listings, sorted by how deep the discount badge runs. The listings at 70% off or more carry a median stated MRP of Rs. 1,900 and sell for a median Rs. 426. The listings under 50% off carry a median MRP of Rs. 1,024 and sell for Rs. 730. Both numbers move together, which means the badge is describing a claimed list price at least as much as it is describing the thing you pay.
The natural next thought is that the deepest badges sit on listings nobody has reviewed. We checked, and it is not true here: 11 of the 14 deep-badge listings carry ratings (78%) against 21 of 26 (80%) among the shallow ones. So we do not make that argument. The evidence gap that is real is narrower and sits on one shelf: 16 of the 45 mufflers and scarves have no rating at all, and five of the seven we seat are among them.
Myntra pools ratings across colourways of the same design, so a count can belong to a family rather than to the listing you are looking at. In this read SELLORIA shows an identical 1,085 ratings on two different caps, Jack & Jones 35,161 on two, and SALTY 127 on two. Where a number is shared we say so on the card, because a four-figure count that belongs to eight colours is a weaker signal than it looks.
In September this aisle is halfway through its turnover, and the tiles do not flag it. The muffler shelf has already switched to winter — merino wool and acrylic, 45 listings of it. The cap shelf has not: it is still baseball caps and a ribbed summer beret. And the glove shelf is carrying sun-protection driving gloves alongside the first acrylic winter pairs. Two sun gloves are seated below, labelled as summer items rather than passed off as winter ones.
“Merino wool”, “cashmere”, “snow-proof” and “touchscreen” are words in the product titles, not findings. A Rs. 356 muffler described as merino wool may be merino, a blend, or acrylic with an optimistic title, and a listing page cannot settle it. We quote the description, print the price, the MRP and whatever evidence exists, and leave the fibre content to the product page.
Because the percentage is calculated from the stated MRP, and the MRP is the number that moves. In this read a merino-wool muffler listed at 86% off a stated Rs. 2,499 sells for Rs. 356, while another listed at 60% off a stated Rs. 879 sells for Rs. 349 — seven rupees less, with a badge twenty-six points shallower. Across all 94 listings the pattern holds: those at 70% off or more claim a median MRP of Rs. 1,900, and those under 50% off claim Rs. 1,024. A stated MRP is a seller's own list price, which it is entitled to display; it is simply not a reliable guide to what anything is worth.
Because Myntra pools ratings across colourways and designs it treats as one family. In this read two different SELLORIA women's caps both displayed 1,085 ratings at 4.2 stars, two Jack & Jones listings both showed 35,161, and two SALTY listings both showed 127. The count is telling you about the family rather than about the specific listing you are on, so a large number does not mean a large number of people bought that colour, that size or that design. The tell is simple: if a sibling listing shows the identical count, treat it as shared.
It is a good time to buy a muffler and an early one to buy a cap. This read found the aisle halfway through its seasonal turnover: the muffler and scarf shelf has already switched to winter stock, with 45 merino and acrylic listings, while the cap shelf is still selling baseball caps and a ribbed summer beret, and the glove shelf still carries sun-protection driving gloves alongside the first acrylic winter pairs. Beanies — the only unambiguously cold-weather headwear here — numbered just six across these searches. More winter headwear typically arrives as the season advances.
In this read of 12 September 2026, the cheapest muffler was Rs. 349 (a men's patterned merino-wool muffler, 60% off a stated Rs. 879, no ratings), the cheapest cap was Rs. 191 (a women's cotton baseball cap, 81% off, on a rating count shared with a sibling listing), and the cheapest winter glove was Rs. 299 (unisex acrylic touchscreen gloves, 50% off, 163 ratings at 4.4). The lowest per-item price anywhere on the page was a kids' beanie three-pack at Rs. 299, which is Rs. 99.67 a beanie. Prices change daily and the live listing is authoritative.
We cannot tell you, and we do not claim to. “Merino wool”, “cashmere” and “snow-proof” are words in the product titles on these listings, quoted here as printed; we did not buy, handle or test any item, and a listing page cannot settle fibre content. What this read can show is context: one muffler on this page whose title says acrylic sells for Rs. 439, which is more than three mufflers whose titles say merino wool. If the fibre matters to you, the product page's own composition and care section is the place to check before ordering, and the 14-day return window is the backstop.
