Iron Price Amazon vs Vijay Sales October 2026: Rs. 1,335 vs Rs. 1,899

Both shelves were read on the afternoon of 30 September 2026, logged out, in India, with nothing purchased. Before any comparison: garment steamers were removed from both sides. Vijay Sales' iron category returns ten handheld and standing steamers among its 27 listings and Amazon's search returns two among its 16. A steamer is a different appliance and a dearer one, and leaving them in would have inflated the Vijay Sales median on its own. Everything below is Amazon's 15 irons against Vijay Sales' 17.

On that basis Amazon's median iron is Rs. 1,335 and Vijay Sales' is Rs. 1,899. That is a Rs. 564 gap and it is the number most price comparisons would stop at. It is also, in large part, a fact about what each shop chooses to stock rather than what either charges: Vijay Sales carries 2,000W, 2,200W, 2,400W, 2,600W and 3,000W steam irons, and the dearest thing on Amazon's shelf is a 2,400W Philips at Rs. 3,956 against a Rs. 11,999 Philips on Vijay Sales.

Divide by the wattage each title prints and the gap very nearly closes. The median price per watt is Rs. 1.19 on Amazon and Rs. 1.22 on Vijay Sales - a difference of three paise per watt across 28 irons that print a wattage. And the single cheapest iron across both shelves is not on Amazon: it is a Bajaj Dry Iron Majesty at Rs. 619 on Vijay Sales, against Rs. 659 for Amazon's cheapest 1,000W Bajaj.

Stock mix stops mattering when the same model number is printed on both tiles. Two are, and they point the same way. The Philips DST0610/30, a 1,000W dry iron, is Rs. 1,082 on Amazon and Rs. 1,169 on Vijay Sales - Amazon Rs. 87 or 7% cheaper. The Philips GC181 heavyweight dry iron, also 1,000W, is Rs. 1,409 on Amazon against Rs. 1,589 on Vijay Sales - Amazon Rs. 180 or 11% cheaper.

One qualification on the second pair, because the printed titles do not quite match: Amazon's is a GC181/80 and Vijay Sales' is a GC181/20. In Philips' numbering the suffix after the slash denotes a variant, typically colour or finish, so that is a match on the model line rather than a certainty that the two tiles are the identical SKU. The photographs differ in colour. The DST0610/30 pair matches on the full model number.

What makes these two rows worth more than the medians above them is that nothing else varies. Same manufacturer, same stated wattage, same model number, read the same afternoon - and a Rs. 87 and a Rs. 180 difference. That is the size of gap a shopper can actually expect to find by checking both sites, and it is a good deal smaller than the Rs. 564 the shelf medians advertise.

The largest discount badge on either shelf is 99%, it appears twice, and in both cases it is arithmetic on a number with a misplaced decimal point. The Philips DST0610/30 sells at Rs. 1,082 against a stated MRP of Rs. 1,08,200. A Docoss mini steam iron sells at Rs. 1,895 against a stated MRP of Rs. 1,89,500. 1,082 x 100 is exactly 1,08,200 and 1,895 x 100 is exactly 1,89,500.

Nobody has ever advertised a domestic iron at Rs. 1.08 lakh. These are a data error in the MRP field - a common one, and we have found the same exact-100x pattern on other Amazon shelves. We point it out rather than quietly dropping it because a shopper sorting this shelf by discount is shown these two listings first, and the percentage attached to them is meaningless.

Both are excluded from every median on this page. With them out, the two shelves discount almost identically: a median badge of 35% on Amazon against 33% on Vijay Sales, on median stated MRP multiples of 1.54x and 1.49x. The badge is not a useful way to choose between these shops, and on the DST0610/30 it is actively misleading - the listing showing 99% off and the listing showing 13% off are the same iron, Rs. 87 apart.

This is not a gap in our reading. Not one of Vijay Sales' 17 iron listings carried a star average or a rating count - the fields are empty in the site's own category feed. We have found the same across its water heater, water purifier and small-appliance shelves, and on AJIO's, so it appears to be how these sites work rather than a quirk of this category.

Amazon, the same afternoon, published a rating count on all 15 of its irons. Several are very large: 53,630 on a Philips GC1905 steam iron, 42,488 on a Bajaj DX-6, 22,092 on the Philips GC181/80 and 14,414 on a Bajaj DHX-9. For an appliance whose real questions are how fast it heats and whether the soleplate drags, that is a meaningful difference in what a buyer has to go on.

It cuts the other way on price at the bottom of the range, though, which is why this is not a recommendation to use one site. Vijay Sales has the cheapest iron across both shelves at Rs. 619. Amazon is the deeper shelf just above that floor - five of its irons sell under Rs. 1,100 against two of Vijay Sales' - but if you have already decided which iron you want, the missing ratings cost you nothing and Vijay Sales owns the cheapest ticket here.

For a basic 1,000W dry iron, check both and expect them to be close. The 1,000W band is the only one properly stocked on both shelves: Amazon lists five at Rs. 659, Rs. 779, Rs. 1,082, Rs. 1,199 and Rs. 1,409, and Vijay Sales lists four at Rs. 619, Rs. 1,099, Rs. 1,169 and Rs. 1,589. Medians of Rs. 1,082 and Rs. 1,134. The cheapest is on Vijay Sales; the two Philips models are cheaper on Amazon.

For a high-wattage steam iron, Vijay Sales is where the stock is. Seven of its 17 irons are 2,000W or more, against one of Amazon's 15. If you want 2,200W or 3,000W, Amazon's shelf in this read simply did not carry it, and a comparison that concluded 'Amazon is cheaper' would be useless to you.
