GoDaddy's Workspace Service Agreement is where the numbers its email product pages leave out are actually written down, and we read it in full on 22 October 2026. The figure most likely to cost someone real data is fourteen - the days after a trial expires in which you can still convert to a paid account before GoDaddy reserves the right to delete the account and everything in it.

Underneath that sit two caps nobody advertises - 50,000 folders and 1,00,000 files in any single directory, both enforced by suspension - and a clause that lets GoDaddy respond to excessive usage by either charging more or closing the account.

GoDaddy's Workspace Service Agreement is the contract behind its Workspace Email, Online Calendar and Online Storage products, and it is where the numbers the product pages leave out actually live. We read it in full on 22 October 2026.

The figure most likely to cost someone real data is fourteen. That is how many days after a Workspace trial expires you have to convert to a paid account before GoDaddy reserves the right to delete the account and everything in it.

The fourteen-day window after a trial expires

Trial termWhat the agreement says
Trials permitted per customerOne
Online Storage trial length30 days
Other Workspace trialsAs specified in the offer details
Grace period after expiry to convert to paid14 days
What GoDaddy reserves the right to do after thatDelete the trial account and any customer data associated with it

The operative sentence appears twice in the document, once for Online Storage and once for the Service generally: "To continue using the Service, you must convert to a paid account before your Trial Account expires or within fourteen (14) days after expiration, after which time we reserve the right to delete your Trial Account and any customer data associated with such account."

You get one trial. The agreement is explicit - "You agree that you are limited to one (1) thirty (30)-day trial account" for Online Storage, and one trial generally, "which will expire at the time specified in the offer details". There is no second attempt in which to retrieve anything.

This is a right GoDaddy reserves, not a schedule it promises to keep. The wording is "we reserve the right to delete", which means deletion may happen at day fifteen or much later, and nothing in the document commits to a notice before it does. If you are trialling Workspace, treat day fourteen as the deadline for exporting anything you want.

Two file limits that sit on top of whatever storage you bought

LimitFigureWhat happens if you exceed it
Online Storage folders50,000Account may be suspended until you are back within the limit
Files in any one directory or folder1,00,000Account may be suspended until you are back within the limit
Recipients allowed per email messageSet by your plan, on the Email landing pageUpgrade the plan or reduce usage
Email messages allowed per daySet by your planUpgrade the plan or reduce usage
Size of each message and attachmentSet by your planUpgrade the plan or reduce usage
Failing to upgrade or reduce usage—GoDaddy may charge additional usage fees OR terminate the account

The folder and file caps are absolute numbers, not plan features. The agreement says that "In addition to the limits set forth on the landing page, you are limited to 50,000 folders and you may not store more than 1,00,000 files within a single directory or folder." Buying more space does not move them.

The enforcement line is suspension, not a surcharge: "In the event you exceed these limits, we may suspend your account until you are in compliance with the limits." That is a different mechanism from the usage-fee clause above it, and it applies to storage structure rather than storage volume.

The email and calendar limits are deliberately not in the contract. The agreement says the plan limits "are presented either on the Email landing page or on this Site" and that they may relate to the number of recipients allowed per message, the number of messages allowed per day, and the size of each message and attachment. So the ceiling you are held to is published somewhere other than the document that enforces it, and it can be changed there.

What happens when you go over: fees, or termination

The "Excessive Account Usage" clause sets out a two-step process and then names the consequence. If your usage for any service exceeds your plan-specific limits, you must either "(i) upgrade to a plan that sufficiently meets your account usage, or (ii) reduce your account usage so that it remains within your plan."

"Should you fail to take one of these two actions, we reserve the right to (a) charge additional usage fees to your account or (b) terminate your account." Which of the two applies is not qualified by anything in the document, and neither is the size of the usage fee.

Separately, the agreement gives a general right to "block, suspend or terminate any Services if you or your account is in violation of this Agreement" - so there are several independent routes to the same outcome in a single document.

The spam filter, and the six words about archiving

GoDaddy disclaims its own filtering in both directions. The agreement states that you acknowledge and agree the spam and virus protection feature "is not guaranteed to be one hundred percent (100%) effective or error-free and may delete email messages and/or attachments that you wish to send or receive". That covers spam arriving and legitimate mail disappearing, and it is a standard enough provision - but it is stated more bluntly here than most.

Then there is one six-word sentence: "The Services are not intended for archival purposes." Read beside the filtering disclaimer and the trial-deletion clause, the document is consistent: a Workspace mailbox is sold as a working inbox, not as a record store. If you need durable retention, the agreement is telling you to arrange it elsewhere.

On Online Storage, sharing is your responsibility. The agreement notes that files and folders shared publicly can be password-protected, but places the duty to do so on the customer, and adds that you are "solely responsible for the activity that occurs on your account, whether authorized by you or not".

What is actually in Workspace

The agreement names Email, Online Storage and Online Calendar as the Workspace suite, with Professional Email Drive described separately as an online file storage system on the same terms. Online Calendar's plan limits, it says, "may relate to the number of users".

One practical note buried in the general section: the document says that to get "enhanced functionality of Workspace Email and Online Calendar, and full functionality of Online Storage" from web-based applications, you need to download GoDaddy's Workspace Desktop Tools. Full functionality, in other words, is not purely browser-based.

Compatibility with third-party clients is described as possible rather than guaranteed: the Professional Email Drive section says the services "may be compatible" with clients such as Microsoft Outlook and FileZilla and with mobile operating systems. "May be" is doing real work in that sentence.

What this page does not tell you

This is a reading of one document, not legal advice. Every quotation above is taken verbatim from GoDaddy's Workspace Service Agreement at godaddy.com/en-in/legal/agreements/workspace-service-agreement as it stood on 22 October 2026. We have not tested any of these provisions, not contacted GoDaddy, not bought or trialled Workspace, and not asked a lawyer how any clause would be construed in India or anywhere else.

Nor does it tell you what GoDaddy actually does. A reserved right is not a stated practice - the deletion clause says "we reserve the right to delete", which is different from a commitment to delete on day fifteen, and the usage clause gives GoDaddy a choice between a fee and termination without saying how it chooses. Published behaviour and contractual rights are different things, and only the second is on this page.

And it may already be out of date. GoDaddy revises these agreements and this one carries no revision stamp we could read. Other GoDaddy legal documents we have covered do carry one - the refund policy changed on 15 October 2026 - so assume the text can move and read the live version before relying on it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do you have to save data from an expired GoDaddy Workspace trial?
Fourteen days after the trial expires. The Workspace Service Agreement, read on 22 October 2026, states that to continue using the service you must convert to a paid account "before your Trial Account expires or within fourteen (14) days after expiration, after which time we reserve the right to delete your Trial Account and any customer data associated with it". The same wording appears twice in the document - once for Online Storage and once for the Service generally. You are limited to one 30-day trial account, so there is no second run at it. Anything you want to keep should be exported before day fourteen.
What are the file and folder limits on GoDaddy Online Storage?
50,000 folders in total, and no more than 1,00,000 files inside any single directory or folder. The agreement states these as fixed caps in addition to whatever storage volume your plan includes: "you are limited to 50,000 folders and you may not store more than 1,00,000 files within a single directory or folder". The consequence is named: "In the event you exceed these limits, we may suspend your account until you are in compliance with the limits." These are not figures the product pages lead with, and they bind regardless of how much space you have bought.
Can GoDaddy charge you more for going over your Workspace plan limits?
Yes - the agreement names two options and they are GoDaddy's to choose. Under "Excessive Account Usage", if your usage exceeds your plan-specific limits you must either upgrade to a plan that covers it or reduce your usage. If you do neither, the document says GoDaddy reserves the right to "(a) charge additional usage fees to your account or (b) terminate your account". The limits themselves are not in the agreement - it says they are "presented either on the Email landing page or on this Site" and may cover recipients per message, messages per day, and message and attachment size. So the ceiling you are held to lives on a page separate from the contract that enforces it.
Does GoDaddy guarantee its email spam and virus filtering?
No, and it says so in unusually plain terms. The agreement states that you acknowledge the spam and virus protection feature "is not guaranteed to be one hundred percent (100%) effective or error-free and may delete email messages and/or attachments that you wish to send or receive". That is a disclaimer in both directions - it covers spam that gets through and legitimate mail that does not. Read alongside the line "The Services are not intended for archival purposes", the document is fairly clear that a Workspace mailbox is not offered as a system of record.
Can you use GoDaddy Online Storage to host files for a website?
Not for anything with traffic. The agreement says Online Storage "is not designed for the purpose of hosting high-traffic website content" and that you agree not to use it to host such content - "as determined by us in our sole and absolute discretion", which means the threshold is not published and is GoDaddy's to set. There is a related point on sharing: public share links can be password-protected, but the document puts the responsibility on you, saying it is your job to protect those links. All of this was read from the live agreement on 22 October 2026; GoDaddy can revise it, so check the current text before relying on any of it.

Every clause, figure and quotation on this page was read from GoDaddy's own Workspace Service Agreement at godaddy.com/en-in on 22 October 2026 and is quoted verbatim. This is a summary of a published contract, not legal advice, and no lawyer has been asked how any provision would be construed in India or elsewhere. Nothing was purchased, trialled or tested, and GoDaddy was not contacted. A right a company reserves in a contract is not the same as what it does in practice, and this page describes only the former. GoDaddy revises these agreements without notice and this document carries no revision date we could read - check the live text before relying on anything here.
