Two shelves of the same shoe, a hundred rupees apart at the median. The difference that actually matters is not the price — it is that one of them will not tell you what a single buyer thought.
We read 172 listings across AJIO and Myntra on 20 October 2026. None of AJIO's 107 carried a rating. And on the two products where both sites quoted the identical maximum retail price, the cheaper shelf at the median turned out to be the dearer place to buy.

📅 Update log:
20 October 2026 — First publication. Read the same day: ajio.com's own search results for "ballerinas", "bellies" and "flats" (107 listings) and myntra.com's /women-ballerinas and /women-flats listing pages via a window.__myx parse (65 listings), both logged out, from India, with nothing purchased and neither retailer contacted. Recorded from this read: none of the 107 AJIO listings publishing a star average or review count, against 39 of Myntra's 65 publishing both; AJIO prices from Rs. 182 to Rs. 2,100 with a median of Rs. 495, 88 of 107 at or under Rs. 700, a median badge of 69% across a 9% to 88% range and 34 distinct stated MRPs; Myntra prices from Rs. 349 to Rs. 1,099 with a median of Rs. 595, 37 of 65 at or under Rs. 700, a median badge of 71% across a 0% to 87% range and 15 distinct stated MRPs; El Paso open-toe flats measured against an identical stated MRP of Rs. 2,899 on both sites at Rs. 696 (AJIO) and Rs. 492 (Myntra); madam glorious embellished flats against an identical stated Rs. 1,899 at Rs. 665 and Rs. 595; Denill against an identical stated Rs. 2,999 at Rs. 420 and Rs. 449; Bata listed against a stated Rs. 749 on AJIO (Rs. 517, 31%) and a stated Rs. 999 on Myntra (Rs. 799 at 20% and Rs. 999 at 0%); nine MAX listings on AJIO badged between 9% and 50% with seven under a third off, and Myntra's single max listing at 8%; Clarks (Rs. 2,100), Rag & Co, Puma, Metro and CATWALK present on AJIO's shelf against a Myntra ceiling of Rs. 1,099 (H&M); and Shoetopia supplying 27 of AJIO's 107 listings, 25 of them between Rs. 390 and Rs. 680. Shelf contamination flagged: both searches return flat sandals, mojaris and bellies alongside ballerinas. Nothing was worn or sized. Coverage checked before writing: no ballerina or bellies page existed on either store.
One shelf publishes ratings. The other publishes none at all
We read both retailers' own listing pages for ballerinas, bellies and women's flats on 20 October 2026 — 107 AJIO listings and 65 Myntra listings, logged out, from India, nothing purchased.
Not one of AJIO's 107 listings published a star average or a review count. The field is absent, on every single one. Myntra published both on 39 of its 65, including review pools of 10,937 and 20,380 on individual pairs.
We are not suggesting AJIO hides anything — retailers choose what to surface, and this is what AJIO's own search returns. But it is the single biggest practical difference between these two shelves: on the larger and cheaper one, the price and the photograph are all you get.
The two shelves, side by side
| Measure | AJIO | Myntra |
|---|
| Listings read | 107 | 65 |
| Listings publishing a star rating | 0 of 107 | 39 of 65 |
| Price range | Rs. 182 to Rs. 2,100 | Rs. 349 to Rs. 1,099 |
| Median price | Rs. 495 | Rs. 595 |
| Listings at or under Rs. 700 | 88 of 107 | 37 of 65 |
| Median badge | 69% | 71% |
| Badge range | 9% to 88% | 0% to 87% |
| Distinct stated MRPs | 34 | 15 |
| Brands with physical shops on the shelf | Clarks, Puma, Metro, CATWALK, MAX, ELLE, Bata | Bata, max, Ginger by Lifestyle, H&M |
AJIO is cheaper at the median and reaches far higher at the top. Its median listing costs Rs. 100 less than Myntra's and 88 of its 107 listings sell at or under Rs. 700 — while its ceiling, a Clarks ballerina at Rs. 2,100, is nearly double Myntra's dearest listing.
Myntra's shelf is the more concentrated one. Fifteen distinct stated MRPs carry all 65 of its listings, against 34 across AJIO's 107.
One honest caveat on both. Each retailer's results mix flat sandals, mojaris and bellies in with ballerinas proper. We have counted what each shelf returned and flagged it rather than quietly presenting it as a pure ballerina comparison.
Where the stated MRP matches exactly, and the price does not
| Product | Stated MRP | AJIO | Myntra | Badge (A vs M) | Cheaper |
|---|
| El Paso open-toe flats | Rs. 2,899 both | Rs. 696 | Rs. 492 | 76% vs 83% | Myntra, by Rs. 204 |
| madam glorious embellished flats | Rs. 1,899 both | Rs. 665 | Rs. 595 | 65% vs 69% | Myntra, by Rs. 70 |
| Denill round-toe slip-on | Rs. 2,999 both | Rs. 420 | Rs. 449 | 86% vs 85% | AJIO, by Rs. 29 |
| Shoetopia ballerinas | Rs. 1,999 both | Rs. 440 to Rs. 680 | Rs. 439 | 78% vs 78% | Level |
These are the cleanest comparisons on the page, because both sites are measuring against the identical list price. On El Paso, Myntra is Rs. 204 cheaper — 29% less money — and prints a bigger badge for the straightforward reason that it charges less against the same number.
That is the opposite of what the shelf medians suggest, which is exactly why a median is not shopping advice. Where we could pin a product down, Myntra won twice, AJIO once, and Shoetopia came out level.
Bata: two sites, two different maximum retail prices
| Listing | Price | Stated MRP | Badge | Ratings |
|---|
| AJIO: Bata round-toe slip-on ballerinas | Rs. 517 | Rs. 749 | 31% | None published |
| Myntra: Bata women's casual ballerinas | Rs. 799 | Rs. 999 | 20% | 900 |
| Myntra: Bata open-toe flats with buckles | Rs. 799 | Rs. 999 | 20% | 521 |
| Myntra: Bata women's casual ballerinas | Rs. 999 | Rs. 999 | 0% | 964 |
| Myntra: Bata round toe slip-on ballerinas | Rs. 999 | Rs. 999 | 0% | 301 |
AJIO measures its Bata ballerina against Rs. 749; Myntra measures its Bata ballerinas against Rs. 999. AJIO's sells for Rs. 517 and Myntra's for Rs. 799 or Rs. 999.
These are not necessarily the same shoe — Bata makes many models and supplies different ranges to different channels, which is entirely ordinary. No stated MRP here is being called false and no wrongdoing is alleged.
What is worth taking away is that Bata is the small-badge brand on both shelves, with two Myntra listings at 0% where the stated MRP and the selling price are the same number. On a shelf whose median badge is around 70%, that is the honest display, not the bad deal.
The brand that prints 9% off, and why it is not the expensive one
| Listing | Site | Price | Stated MRP | Badge |
|---|
| MAX women's slip-on round-toe ballerinas | AJIO | Rs. 545 | Rs. 599 | 9% |
| MAX women's round-toe slip-on ballerinas | AJIO | Rs. 527 | Rs. 599 | 12% |
| MAX women's knitted flat shoes | AJIO | Rs. 429 | Rs. 499 | 14% |
| MAX women's dual strap flats with buckles | AJIO | Rs. 335 | Rs. 399 | 16% |
| MAX woven strap slip-on flat sandals | AJIO | Rs. 497 | Rs. 599 | 17% |
| MAX women's braided flats | AJIO | Rs. 482 | Rs. 699 | 31% |
| MAX women's woven ballerinas | AJIO | Rs. 300 | Rs. 599 | 50% |
| max women's ballerinas with bows | Myntra | Rs. 549 | Rs. 599 | 8% |
| AJIO shelf median | — | Rs. 495 | — | 69% |
MAX's nine AJIO listings badge between 9% and 50%, seven of them under a third off, on a shelf whose median badge is 69%. Myntra's single max listing prints 8%.
Compare the rupees instead. A MAX slip-on ballerina at Rs. 545 with a 9% badge is Rs. 15 cheaper than a Shoetopia ballerina at Rs. 560 with a 72% badge. Both prices are real; only one of the two percentages is measuring anything close to the money being asked. We allege nothing improper about the brands with larger badges — a maximum retail price is a maximum a brand may set.
The top of each shelf, and the brand that owns AJIO's bottom
| Listing | Site | Price | Stated MRP | Badge |
|---|
| CLARKS square-toe slip-on ballerinas | AJIO | Rs. 2,100 | Rs. 6,999 | 70% |
| Rag & Co ballerinas, velvet upper | AJIO | Rs. 1,840 | Rs. 3,999 | 54% |
| Puma Adelina women's ballerina shoes | AJIO | Rs. 1,800 | Rs. 3,999 | 55% |
| Metro women's ballerinas, synthetic upper | AJIO | Rs. 1,157 | Rs. 2,690 | 57% |
| CATWALK women's laser-cut leather ballerinas | AJIO | Rs. 1,148 | Rs. 2,295 | 50% |
| H&M pointed ballet flats | Myntra | Rs. 1,099 | Rs. 2,199 | 50% |
| Myntra's dearest listing is the row above | — | — | — | — |
AJIO's shelf runs almost twice as high as Myntra's and carries the shoe houses — Clarks, Puma, Metro, CATWALK — none of which appeared on the Myntra pages we read.
Its cheap end is dominated by one label. Shoetopia supplies 27 of AJIO's 107 listings, 25 of them between Rs. 390 and Rs. 680, mostly measured against a stated Rs. 1,999. That is a quarter of the shelf from a single brand, which is ordinary retail and not something we criticise — but it means the apparent breadth of the page is narrower than the listing count suggests, and none of those 27 carries a rating.
What this page does not tell you
This is a price read, not a product review. Nothing was worn, walked in, flexed or sized. "Leather", "Synthetic Upper", "Embellished" and "Comfortable" above are the listings' own printed descriptions, reproduced and not verified, and we make no claim about fit, sole or durability on any pair named.
Nor does it tell you today's price. Every figure here was returned on 20 October 2026. Check the specific pair on both sites before buying — where we could match a product exactly, the cheaper retailer was not the one the shelf medians pointed at.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which is cheaper for ballerinas, AJIO or Myntra?
AJIO, at the median, and by a modest amount. Across the 172 listings we read on 20 October 2026, AJIO's median was Rs. 495 against Myntra's Rs. 595, and 88 of AJIO's 107 listings sold at or under Rs. 700 against 37 of Myntra's 65. But that reverses on the two products we could match exactly. El Paso open-toe flats, measured against an identical stated MRP of Rs. 2,899 on both sites, cost Rs. 492 on Myntra and Rs. 696 on AJIO — Myntra Rs. 204 cheaper. madam glorious flats, same stated Rs. 1,899 on both, were Rs. 595 against Rs. 665. Shelf medians are not shopping advice; check the specific pair.
Why do none of the AJIO listings have ratings?
Because AJIO does not publish them in these results — the field is simply absent. Not one of the 107 AJIO listings we read returned a star average or a review count. This is not a quirk of our read: it is what AJIO's own search returns, and we have seen the same on other AJIO shelves. Myntra published both on 39 of its 65 listings, including pools of 10,937 and 20,380 on individual pairs. We are not suggesting AJIO is hiding anything; retailers make different choices about what to surface. The practical consequence is large, though: on the cheaper and much bigger of the two shelves, price and photograph are the only information you get. If review depth matters to you, that is a reason to look the same pair up on the other site before buying.
Why does Bata show a different MRP on each site?
We can only report that it does. AJIO lists Bata round-toe slip-on ballerinas at Rs. 517 against a stated MRP of Rs. 749, printing 31% off. Myntra lists Bata ballerinas at Rs. 799 and Rs. 999 against a stated MRP of Rs. 999, printing 20% and 0%. These are not necessarily the same shoe — Bata makes many models and sells different ranges through different channels — and no stated MRP here is being called false and no wrongdoing is alleged. What is worth noticing is the floor: AJIO's cheapest Bata is Rs. 282 below Myntra's dearest, and Bata is the brand on both shelves that prints the smallest badges, including two listings at 0% where the stated MRP equals the selling price.
Is a 69% badge on AJIO better than a 9% one?
Not in any way that reaches your wallet. MAX — a Lifestyle house brand sold in physical shops — has nine listings on AJIO badged between 9% and 50%, seven of them under a third off. The shelf median badge is 69%. A MAX slip-on ballerina at Rs. 545 prints 9% off a stated Rs. 599; a Shoetopia ballerina at Rs. 560 prints 72% off a stated Rs. 1,999. The MAX pair is Rs. 15 cheaper. The badge is arithmetic against a number the seller chose and you never pay. A brand pricing near its list price is being candid, not expensive — and we allege nothing improper about the brands printing larger badges either.
Which shelf has the better brands?
AJIO's, if you mean names with physical shops behind them. Its shelf carried Clarks at Rs. 2,100, Puma at Rs. 1,800, Metro at Rs. 1,157, CATWALK at Rs. 1,148, plus MAX, ELLE, SHEZONE and Bata. Myntra's shelf stopped at Rs. 1,099 — an H&M pointed ballet flat — and its recognisable names were Bata, max, Ginger by Lifestyle and H&M. One brand dominates AJIO's cheap end: Shoetopia supplies 27 of its 107 listings, 25 of them between Rs. 390 and Rs. 680 and most against a stated Rs. 1,999. We have not handled any of these shoes and make no claim about which is better made; this is about what each shelf stocks and charges.

Zoutons earns affiliate commission on some links on this page. It costs you nothing and it does not decide what we write. Every price, stated MRP, discount badge, star average and rating count above was returned by ajio.com's and myntra.com's own pages on 20 October 2026, logged out, from India, with nothing purchased. This is a price read, not a product review. Nothing was worn, walked in, flexed or sized — "Leather", "Synthetic Upper", "Embellished" and "Comfortable" are the listings' own printed descriptions, reproduced here and not independently verified, and we make no claim about fit, sole or durability on any pair named. The absence of ratings on AJIO's listings is reported as a fact about what its search returns, not as a criticism or a suggestion that anything is concealed — retailers legitimately differ in what they publish. Where a brand appears on both sites we have NOT claimed the two listings are the same shoe unless the stated MRP matched exactly; a manufacturer supplying different ranges to different retailers, at different list prices, is entirely ordinary. NO STATED MRP IS CALLED FALSE AND NO WRONGDOING BY ANY BRAND, SELLER, BY AJIO OR BY MYNTRA IS ALLEGED. Both searches returned flat sandals, mojaris and bellies alongside ballerinas and we have flagged that rather than hiding it. A single read is a snapshot, not a trend. What each retailer publishes at the time you buy prevails over anything here.
