Backpack Price Amazon vs Myntra September 2026: 123 Listings

We read every backpack, rucksack and laptop bag we could pull from both marketplaces on 16 September 2026 — 53 listings on Myntra and 70 on Amazon — and recorded the selling price, the MRP, the badge, the star average and the rating count on each.

The comparison most people expect to win decisively does not. The median backpack costs Rs. 999 on Myntra and Rs. 989.50 on Amazon. The median discount badge is 60 per cent on both. Turn those badges into MRP multiples and they land at 2.50x and 2.52x. Three independent measures, two marketplaces, effectively one answer.

Where they differ is at the edges. Amazon reaches further down — a Rs. 266 water-resistant daypack, and ten listings under Rs. 500 against Myntra's one. Myntra reaches further up: a Rs. 8,995 IRTH by House of Titan laptop bag carrying no discount and no rating, against an Amazon ceiling of Rs. 2,944 in this read.

The clearest proof that the price is set by the brand rather than the marketplace is that we found the same products on both shelves at the same rupee.

The Skybags Vesper 40L 15.6-inch laptop backpack is Rs. 999 on Myntra and Rs. 999 on Amazon, in both cases under a printed MRP of Rs. 3,300 and a 70 per cent badge. The Genie Berry 17-inch women's laptop backpack is Rs. 1,499 on both, under the same Rs. 3,081 MRP and the same 51 per cent badge. Not similar — identical, down to the list price the seller chose to print.

Where the brands differ, the models differ too, so the comparison stops being like for like. Myntra's Rs. 719 PUMA is a kids' Phase backpack; Amazon's Rs. 849 PUMA is the unisex School Backpack V2. Myntra's Rs. 1,429 ZOUK is the Black Floral; Amazon's Rs. 1,699 ZOUK is the Amalia Daypack. We have flagged both rows rather than letting them imply a price difference that is really a product difference.

Amazon's backpack shelf is a luggage shelf. The six biggest names in the read are Safari (10 listings), Skybags (6), American Tourister (6), uppercase (5), Glowic (3) and FUR JADEN (3) — bag makers, selling bags, mostly between Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,500.

Myntra's is a fashion shelf. Its biggest names are WROGN (6), StyleCast x Revolte (5), EVLINLIFESTYLE (4), Wildcraft (3) and Caprese (3), and the top of its price range is occupied by structured women's laptop bags from Fastrack, MIRAGGIO, Tommy Hilfiger and Van Heusen at Rs. 2,192 to Rs. 3,596.

That shows up hardest in laptop bags. The median laptop bag in this read is Rs. 999 on Amazon and Rs. 1,649 on Myntra — not because Myntra charges more for the same thing, but because Amazon's are nylon rucksacks with rain covers and Myntra's are structured bags meant to be seen carrying. If you want a 30-litre backpack that survives a monsoon commute, Amazon has more of them and they are cheaper. If you want a laptop bag that looks like a handbag, Myntra has those and Amazon does not.

This is the one comparison that is not a tie. Sixty-nine of Amazon's 70 listings publish a rating. Fourteen of Myntra's 53 publish none at all. The median counts are similar — 485 on Amazon, 408 on Myntra — but the chance of finding any feedback on the bag you are looking at is far higher on Amazon.

Myntra does hold the single largest sample in the read: a Wildcraft women's backpack at Rs. 639 with 58,234 ratings at 4.4, followed by a Tommy Hilfiger Joshua laptop backpack at Rs. 1,599 with 25,272 at 4.6. Amazon's biggest is the Safari Omega at 17,032.

Both marketplaces pool ratings, which blunts all of this. Twenty-five of Amazon's 70 listings share a rating count with another listing in the same read — four Safari Omega listings carry the identical 17,032 — and on Myntra two WROGN backpacks at Rs. 674 and Rs. 656 both carry 12,447 ratings at 4.3. A shared count means the reviews describe the product family, not the colour in front of you.

Neither marketplace comes out of the discount comparison well. The median badge is 60 per cent on both, and the deepest are 81 per cent on Myntra (the WROGN backpack at Rs. 674 under a Rs. 3,499 MRP) and 82 per cent on Amazon.

The Skybags Vesper is the cleanest test available. One bag, two marketplaces, Rs. 999 on each, and both print the same Rs. 3,300 list price and the same 70 per cent badge. The badge is not a marketplace's decision about how much to discount; it is arithmetic on a list price the brand supplied. Where the same brand appears at different badges — Skybags shows 70 per cent on the Vesper and 52 per cent on the Brat Pro Max at the same Rs. 999 — it is the MRP that moved, not the price.

One listing in the Myntra read prints no badge at all: the Rs. 8,995 IRTH by House of Titan bag, sold at its MRP. It is the most honest label on either shelf and also the most expensive bag in the comparison.

For a functional backpack under Rs. 1,000, buy wherever the specific bag is cheaper — and check both, because the answer is usually the same number. Amazon has more of them (34 listings in the Rs. 500–999 band against Myntra's 28, plus ten under Rs. 500), more luggage brands and far better rating coverage.

For a laptop bag that has to look like something, Myntra. Its Rs. 1,649 median in that sub-category buys a structured bag from a fashion label; Amazon's Rs. 999 median buys a rucksack. They are different products at different prices, and only one of the two shelves stocks both kinds.

And on either site, look up the rating count before the badge. Both marketplaces print 60 per cent as a median discount and both pool their reviews across colours. The count is the only number on the page that a seller cannot set by typing a bigger MRP.
