Amazon vs Flipkart Power Bank Price September 2026: Rs. 880 vs Rs. 392

boAt's 20,000mAh 22.5W power bank cost Rs. 1,799 on both platforms on 18 September 2026, against an identical stated MRP of Rs. 4,499, producing an identical 60 per cent badge on each. Its 10,000mAh sibling repeated the trick exactly: Rs. 999 on both, Rs. 2,999 crossed out on both, 67 per cent claimed on both.

That is the useful baseline, because it tells you that on the products both shelves carry, a brand sets one price and both platforms display it. Where they diverge, Flipkart is usually the cheaper of the two - Rs. 99 less on the Xiaomi 10,000mAh, Rs. 81 less on the Portronics 10,000mAh, Rs. 300 less on the Noise 45W - but the gaps are small and none of them is the real difference between these two shelves.

The real difference is what else Flipkart sells. Eleven listings in our Flipkart read claim more than 20,000mAh, topping out at a listing described as '200000 mAh' and 'Compact Pocket Size' for Rs. 994. In the Amazon pull, nothing claimed above 20,000mAh at all.

Six products appeared on both shelves in a form close enough to compare. Prices, stated MRPs, rating averages and rating counts are as displayed on 18 September 2026.

Two things to take from that table. First, on a branded power bank the difference between the platforms is between nothing and Rs. 300 - worth checking, not worth agonising over. Second, and more important: the rating counts are not measuring the same thing. The identical boAt shows 235 ratings on Amazon and 252,057 on Flipkart; the identical Xiaomi shows 12,954 and 382,541. Flipkart pools feedback across a product's variations and across the years a model has been listed, while Amazon's counts here sit on individual, often recently relisted, product pages. Read each platform's counts against its own shelf and never against the other's.

The one product neither comparison covers is Amazon's own label. Amazon Basics sells a 20,000mAh 22.5W power bank at Rs. 1,167, which is the cheapest branded 20,000mAh on either shelf in our read - Rs. 32 under the cheapest Flipkart equivalent with a five-figure rating base, and it carries 3.9 from 2,818 ratings of its own.

Every power bank listing states a capacity in milliamp-hours in its own title, so every listing can be priced per 1,000mAh of that claim. Do that to both shelves and the medians are Rs. 115 on Amazon and Rs. 75 on Flipkart - which reads like Flipkart being a third cheaper until you look at what is dragging its median down.

Capacity in milliamp-hours converts to energy at a nominal 3.7 volts. A claimed 10,000mAh is about 37 watt-hours and a claimed 20,000mAh about 74 - both comfortably inside the 100 watt-hours an airline will carry in a cabin without prior approval, and both sizes that thousands of real products genuinely meet. A claimed 200,000mAh is about 740 watt-hours: more than seven times that cabin limit, and three to four kilograms of cells at the best energy densities in commercial production. The listing describes itself as pocket-sized and costs Rs. 994.

We have not opened, weighed or discharge-tested anything, and we are not alleging anything about any seller. We are pointing out that the number in the title, the words in the title and the price cannot all be describing the same object - and that this shape of listing appeared eleven times in one Flipkart read and not once in the Amazon one.

Note the last two rows. Flipkart's cheapest listing is a genuine 10,000mAh at Rs. 408 with 8,408 ratings behind it - less than half Amazon's floor of Rs. 880, and a perfectly ordinary product. Flipkart's cheap end is real; it is just also where the fiction lives, and the per-1,000mAh figure is the fastest way to tell the two apart. Below about Rs. 40 per claimed 1,000mAh you are buying a number rather than a capacity.

Flipkart's median discount badge in our read was 67 per cent against Amazon's 50, and the largest claims were 86 and 76 per cent. That gap is catalogue composition rather than generosity. On the products both shelves carry, the badges match almost exactly - 60 and 60 on the boAt 20,000mAh, 67 and 67 on the boAt 10,000mAh, 43 and 42 on the Xiaomi 20,000mAh - because the brand supplies the list price and both platforms display it.

The difference comes from Flipkart's much longer tail of marketplace-only labels, which has no equivalent in our Amazon pull: 49 Flipkart listings under Rs. 1,000 against Amazon's four. Those listings choose their own crossed-out figures, and it shows. Six separately branded Flipkart listings sold a claimed 20,000mAh at Rs. 992 with stated MRPs ranging from Rs. 2,999 to Rs. 4,999 - one checkout price, six ceilings, badges from 67 to 80 per cent.

On evidence coverage the two platforms invert the usual expectation: every one of the 28 Amazon listings published a rating, while 10 of the 107 Flipkart listings published none at all. Amazon's counts are smaller across the board - a median of 649 against 614, but a maximum of 12,954 against 421,118 - which again is a difference in how each platform pools, not in how many people bought.

If you know the brand and model you want, check both and buy wherever it is cheaper that day. The difference in our read ran from nothing to Rs. 300 and usually favoured Flipkart. On a like-for-like branded purchase this is a coin-flip decision, not a strategy.

If you are buying by price, Flipkart has by far the deeper cheap end - 49 listings under Rs. 1,000 against four - and its floor, a 10,000mAh at Rs. 408 on 8,408 ratings, is genuinely half Amazon's. Apply one filter before you buy there: divide the price by the claimed capacity. Anything under about Rs. 40 per 1,000mAh is selling you a number, and everything above 20,000mAh on that shelf is in that bracket.

If you want the single best-value branded buy across both shelves in this read, it is Amazon's own: the Amazon Basics 20,000mAh at Rs. 1,167, which nothing on Flipkart matched at that capacity with comparable feedback. And on either platform, ignore the crossed-out figure. The same boAt carried the same Rs. 4,499 on both shelves, and it is not a price anyone has been asked to pay.
