Two incense packs priced in this read of Amazon's agarbatti shelf - the Rs. 118 Mangaldeep 3in1 chandan pack and the Rs. 124 Cycle Pure All in One assorted pack - shown as they appear in their own listing photographs

Four Amazon festive shelves, read the same morning. On the dry fruit and chocolate gift shelves, 24 of 40 listings state a maximum retail price below their own selling price. On the agarbatti shelf, not one of the forty does.

The badges follow: a median of 21.5%, with 29 of the 40 at or below 30% off, against 70% on fairy lights. Mangaldeep discounts 6%, Shubhkart 1%, Patanjali 1%. This is what the field looks like when the stated list price is close to what the thing sells for. Below: the exception - five unbranded kilo combos holding every deep badge on the shelf - and why we are declining to rank incense per gram.

📅 Update log:
1 October 2026 — first published. The shelf was read on the morning of 1 October 2026 from amazon.in's own search results for 'agarbatti incense sticks', logged out, in India, with nothing purchased; 40 listings were returned. The comparison shelves - dry fruit gift packs, chocolate gift boxes, fairy lights and artificial flowers - were read the same morning from the same source by the same method, 40 listings each. Per-stick and per-100g figures divide by quantities the listings state themselves. Every price, stated MRP, badge, star average and rating count quoted here was read on that date.

Not one of these forty listings has a broken MRP

We have read four Amazon festive shelves this morning - dry fruit gift packs, chocolate gift boxes, fairy lights and this one - logged out, in India, with nothing purchased. On three of them, a large share of listings state a maximum retail price below their own selling price, which makes the discount field unusable. On the agarbatti shelf, that number is zero out of forty.

The badges follow from it. The median discount on this shelf is 21.5%, and 29 of the 40 listings are at or below 30% off - against medians of 65% on artificial flowers and 70% on fairy lights, read the same morning. Mangaldeep's 3-in-1 shows 6%. Shubhkart's kesar chandan pack shows 1%. Patanjali's bambooless sticks show 1%. Hem, which holds nine of the forty listings, runs from 8% to 28%.

These are the numbers a discount field produces when the stated MRP is close to what the thing actually sells for. We are not claiming the incense industry is more virtuous than the decoration industry - only that on this shelf, on this date, the MRP column is usable and on the others it is not. Which makes it the one festive category where sorting by discount tells you something.

Four Amazon festive shelves, all read 1 Oct 2026ListingsStating an MRP below their own priceMedian badge
Agarbatti and incense sticks400 of 4021.5%
Fairy lights404 of 4070%
Artificial flowers404 of 4065%
Dry fruit gift packs4024 of 400%
Chocolate gift boxes4024 of 400%
The one-line version: this is the only festive shelf we read today where the discount badge means anything. Nothing on it states an MRP below its own price, and the big incense brands discount between 1% and 28% - which is what a real list price looks like.

The deep discounts all belong to the unbranded combo packs

There are exceptions, and they cluster. The five deepest badges on the shelf - 85%, 70%, 68%, 67% and 52% - all sit on unbranded or lightly branded 'combo pack' listings, and none of them is from Hem, Cycle Pure, Mangaldeep, Shubhkart or Patanjali.

The deepest is a Rs. 290 one-kilogram combo stating a maximum retail price of Rs. 1,899 - a 6.55x multiple - with 76 ratings at 4.1. Next is a Rs. 180 one-kilogram pack stating Rs. 599, with 172 ratings at 3.0, the lowest star average in the read. Three more Rs. 189 to Rs. 255 combo listings state Rs. 499 or Rs. 599 against prices under Rs. 260.

So the honest reading is not 'incense is honest'. It is that the named brands on this shelf state credible list prices and the unbranded bulk combos state inflated ones - which is the usual shape of MRP inflation, and it is unusually easy to see here because the rest of the shelf behaves. Nothing improper is alleged against any seller; an MRP is a figure a listing displays, and we have not verified that any pack here was ever sold at one.

Why we are not giving you a per-gram league table

On every other shelf this morning we divided by a printed quantity, and here we are going to decline. Only 12 of the 40 listings print a weight and only 5 print a stick count - and even where a weight exists, it is a bad denominator for incense, because stick length and thickness vary enormously between a 20 g gift box and a 1 kg bulk bag.

The arithmetic shows why. Per 100 grams the shelf runs from Rs. 18.00 to Rs. 1,380 - a 77x spread - because the Rs. 18.00 end is a one-kilogram bulk pack of thick sticks and the Rs. 1,380 end is a 20 gram, 120-stick aromatherapy gift box of very thin ones. Both figures are correct arithmetic and neither tells you which is better value, because they are not the same product.

Per stick is the better unit and almost nobody prints it. Where it appears, the range is Rs. 0.75 to Rs. 4.06 a stick: a Hem Fortune Sandal pack states 130 sticks for Rs. 97, which is 75 paise each, while a Hem Aromatherapy gift box states 120 sticks for Rs. 276, or Rs. 2.30. That is a comparison worth making. We are publishing the numbers and the warning together rather than ranking a shelf on a denominator that does not hold.

The most-reviewed pack on the shelf scores 3.7

One listing carries 13,955 ratings - a Hem Precious Lavender pack at Rs. 213 - and its star average is 3.7, below the shelf median of about 4.1. That is unusual and worth sitting with, because on most shelves the most-rated item is also among the better-rated ones.

The best-evidenced listings with strong averages are elsewhere: Folkulture at Rs. 349 with 5,878 ratings at 4.3, Cycle Pure's All in One at Rs. 250 with 2,487 at 4.2, Cycle Pure's Three in One at Rs. 300 with 2,343 at 4.4, and Mangaldeep's 3in1 at Rs. 118 with 2,242 at 4.3. The Mangaldeep is the cheapest of those four by a distance and shows a 6% badge.

Thirty-six of the 40 listings publish a rating. The four that do not are all Cycle Pure listings that also state no MRP - Rs. 300, Rs. 300, Rs. 330 and Rs. 350 - so those four tiles give a shopper a price and nothing else. We did not buy, light or smell any of these, and every fragrance, 'natural', 'charcoal free' and 'bambooless' claim on this shelf is the seller's own printed text.

Before you buy: on this one shelf the badge is worth reading - a 1% to 28% discount from a named brand is a real list price, and a 67% to 85% badge on an unbranded kilo combo is not. Then check the stick count if it is printed, because it varies from 100 to 166 on packs costing Rs. 97 to Rs. 633.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does agarbatti cost on Amazon in October 2026?
In this read of 40 listings, Rs. 49 to Rs. 633 with a median of Rs. 192.50. A single-fragrance Hem pack starts at Rs. 49; the big three-in-one packs from Mangaldeep, Cycle Pure and Shubhkart sit between Rs. 110 and Rs. 250; one-kilogram bulk combos run Rs. 180 to Rs. 290; and premium bambooless and dhoop sticks reach Rs. 633. Where stick counts are printed, the range is Rs. 0.75 to Rs. 4.06 a stick. These figures describe the 40 listings returned on 1 October 2026, not Amazon's full catalogue.
Are Amazon's agarbatti discounts real?
More so than on any other festive shelf we read that morning, with one clear exception. Not one of the 40 listings states a maximum retail price below its own selling price, the median badge is 21.5%, and 29 of the 40 are at or below 30% off. The named brands are flattest: Mangaldeep 6%, Shubhkart 1% and 12%, Patanjali 1%, Hem 8% to 28%. The exception is the unbranded bulk combos, which hold all five of the deepest badges - 85%, 70%, 68%, 67% and 52% - with multiples up to 6.55x. An MRP is a figure the listing displays and we have not verified that any pack was ever sold at one.
Which agarbatti has the best reviews on Amazon?
By count, a Hem Precious Lavender pack at Rs. 213 with 13,955 ratings - but its average is 3.7, below the shelf median of about 4.1. The best combinations of count and average in this read were Folkulture at Rs. 349 with 5,878 ratings at 4.3, Cycle Pure Three in One at Rs. 300 with 2,343 at 4.4, and Mangaldeep 3in1 at Rs. 118 with 2,242 at 4.3 - the last being the cheapest of the three by a wide margin. We did not buy, light or smell any of them; these are the figures the listings publish.
Is a 1 kg agarbatti pack better value?
Per gram, yes, by a long way - but weight is a weak measure for incense. In this read a one-kilogram pack at Rs. 180 works out at Rs. 18 per 100 g, while a 20 g gift box at Rs. 276 works out at Rs. 1,380, a 77x spread. The reason is that stick length and thickness vary enormously, so a gram of thin aromatherapy sticks and a gram of thick bulk sticks are not comparable units. Where a stick count is printed the range narrows sharply, to Rs. 0.75 to Rs. 4.06 a stick. The kilo packs also carry the shelf's deepest badges and some of its lowest ratings.
Do any Amazon agarbatti listings hide their price information?
Four of the 40 state no maximum retail price at all and therefore show no badge - all four are Cycle Pure listings, at Rs. 300, Rs. 300, Rs. 330 and Rs. 350. They do publish ratings, two of them with more than 2,000. Thirty-six of the 40 publish a star average. No listing on this shelf states an MRP below its own selling price, which is the defect that makes the field unusable on Amazon's dry fruit and chocolate gift shelves.
Prices & codes last verified: October 1, 2026
Zoutons may earn a commission when you buy through links on this page. Every selling price, stated MRP, discount badge, star average and rating count here was read on 1 October 2026 from amazon.in's own search results for 'agarbatti incense sticks', logged out, in India, with nothing purchased; 40 listings were returned. The four comparison shelves named on this page were read the same morning from the same source by the same method, 40 listings each, and the comparison is between those five sets of search results on that date rather than between categories in general. Every count, median, range and multiple on this page describes those listings on that date rather than Amazon's full catalogue, and an incense product sold there that did not appear in these results does not appear here; search results are ranked, partly personalised and change continuously, so a different reader will not see the same set. Per-stick and per-100-gram figures are our own arithmetic over quantities the listings print themselves - only 12 of the 40 print a weight and only 5 print a stick count, we weighed and counted nothing, and the page states expressly that weight is a weak denominator for incense because stick length and thickness vary. The description of certain listings as unbranded reflects the absence of a recognised brand name in the printed title and is not a statement about the seller's identity, registration or legitimacy. Nothing on this page is an allegation of mispricing, misleading advertising or any breach of the Legal Metrology Act, the Consumer Protection Act, the Packaged Commodities Rules or any other law, rule or platform policy by Amazon Seller Services Private Limited or by Hem, Cycle Pure, Mangaldeep, ITC, Shubhkart, Patanjali, Nirmalaya, Phool, Folkulture, Sadhna.co, KRUPA, RAJTILAK, Lia, Valu Organics, Mystique or any other brand or seller named or unnamed, and no wrongdoing is alleged or implied. An MRP is the figure the listing displays and we have not verified that any product here was ever sold at it, so every percentage and multiple on this page is arithmetic over two numbers the seller chose rather than a measured saving; describing a shelf's MRP column as usable or unusable is an observation about a data field. Rating counts and star averages are reproduced exactly as published, including very small counts, and a listing with no published rating is treated as unrated rather than as poor. Fragrance names, stick lengths, burn times, 'natural', 'charcoal free', 'bambooless', 'cow dung', 'premium' and every other description are the listings' own printed text, reproduced as printed and not verified, tested or smelled by us - nothing here is a statement about fragrance, burn quality, smoke, ingredients or fitness for any purpose. Incense burns with an open ember and produces smoke; it should be used in a ventilated space, away from anything flammable, never left unattended, and kept away from children and pets, and anyone with asthma or a respiratory condition should take their own advice on indoor smoke. We did not buy, unbox, light or burn any item on this page. Product photographs are the listings' own images as published on amazon.in and may be styled or retouched. Prices change without notice and can differ at checkout after coupons, bank offers or delivery charges; the price shown at your checkout prevails over anything here.
