Two large Indian fashion sites, one category, one morning. We read 80 AJIO listings and 32 Myntra listings for men's formal shirts on 17 October 2026 — logged out, from India, with nothing bought — and compared them on every figure each site publishes.
AJIO wins on price at every point. Its floor is Rs. 120 against Rs. 447; its median shirt is Rs. 562.50 against Rs. 637.50, about 12% cheaper; its median badge is 70% against 64%. And it publishes no evidence at all — zero of its 80 listings carry a star average or a rating count, against 24 of Myntra's 32, one of them with 232,259 ratings.
Two more findings below: the single brand that appears on both shelves states an identical Rs. 2,088 MRP and sells Rs. 41 apart, and on both sites the deepest discount badges sit on the houses nobody has heard of. This is a price read; nobody here wore a shirt.

📅 Update log:
17 October 2026 — First publication. Both shelves read the same morning: 80 distinct AJIO listings from ajio.com's own search response for "men formal shirt" and "men shirt", and 32 distinct Myntra listings from myntra.com/men-formal-shirts across two pages via the window.__myx product payload the pages serve — both logged out, from India, with nothing purchased and neither retailer contacted. Recorded this read: AJIO's price floor of Rs. 120, median of Rs. 562.50 and ceiling of Rs. 1,499 against Myntra's Rs. 447, Rs. 637.50 and Rs. 1,199; AJIO's badge range of 35-84% (median 70%) against Myntra's 23-77% (median 64%); median stated MRPs of Rs. 1,774 and Rs. 1,949 respectively; 27 distinct brands on AJIO against 16 on Myntra; zero of AJIO's 80 listings publishing a star average or rating count against 24 of Myntra's 32, the deepest pool being 232,259; the single brand common to both shelves stating an identical Rs. 2,088 MRP while selling at Rs. 585 badged 72% on AJIO and Rs. 626 badged 70% on Myntra, under different listing names; and the brand-level price and badge ranges reproduced in the second table. No garment was bought, worn, washed or inspected.
AJIO against Myntra on men's formal shirts, read the same morning
Two large Indian fashion sites, one category, one morning. We read 80 AJIO listings and 32 Myntra listings for men's formal shirts on 17 October 2026 — logged out, from India, with nothing bought — and put the two shelves side by side on every figure each site publishes.
AJIO is cheaper at every point of the range. Its floor is Rs. 120 against Rs. 447; its median shirt costs Rs. 562.50 against Rs. 637.50, about 12% less. Its badges are deeper too, a median of 70% against 64%.
And it publishes no evidence whatsoever. Not one of AJIO's 80 listings carried a star average or a rating count. Twenty-four of Myntra's 32 did, the deepest with 232,259 ratings behind it. That is the single biggest difference between the two shelves, and it is not a difference in price.
The headline comparison, 17 October 2026: AJIO median shirt Rs. 562.50, median badge 70%, 0 of 80 listings rated. Myntra median shirt Rs. 637.50, median badge 64%, 24 of 32 listings rated, deepest pool 232,259.
Every figure, side by side
| What we measured | AJIO (80 listings) | Myntra (32 listings) | What it means |
|---|
| Cheapest shirt in the read | Rs. 120 | Rs. 447 | AJIO's floor is 3.7x lower |
| Median selling price | Rs. 562.50 | Rs. 637.50 | AJIO's median shirt is 12% cheaper |
| Dearest shirt in the read | Rs. 1,499 | Rs. 1,199 | AJIO's range is wider at both ends |
| Discount badge range | 35% to 84% | 23% to 77% | AJIO's deepest claim is seven points deeper |
| Median discount badge | 70% | 64% | Six points apart at the midpoint |
| Median stated MRP | Rs. 1,774 | Rs. 1,949 | Myntra states higher list prices at the median |
| Distinct brands returned | 27 | 16 | AJIO returned a longer tail of unfamiliar houses |
| Listings publishing a rating | 0 of 80 | 24 of 32 | The single largest difference between the two shelves |
| Deepest rating pool | None published | 232,259 ratings | On Myntra's cheapest shirt, at Rs. 447 |
Two rows deserve a second look. The median stated MRP is higher on Myntra — Rs. 1,949 against Rs. 1,774 — while the median badge is lower. So AJIO's deeper discount claims are not produced by larger claimed list prices; they are produced by lower selling prices. That is the more honest version of 'AJIO discounts harder'.
And the last row is the one to carry away. A 12% price advantage is real but modest. The difference between a shelf where four in five listings publish what buyers thought and a shelf where none of them do is a difference in kind, not degree — particularly at the cheap end, where both shelves fill up with houses nobody has heard of.
The one brand that appears on both shelves
Only one name turned up in both reads, and it states the identical MRP of Rs. 2,088 on each site. AJIO sells at Rs. 585, badged 72%. Myntra sells at Rs. 626, badged 70% — across four separate tiles, three of which publish the same 19,208-rating pool. Rs. 41 apart, about 7%, in AJIO's favour.
What this is not: proof that one identical garment sells at two prices. The listing names differ — "Men Tailored Fit Shirt" on one site, "Men Solid Spread Collar Cotton Formal Shirt" and variants on the other — and nothing in either listing establishes that they are the same product. What it is: one house carrying one claimed list price across two retailers, and that single shared figure producing two different prices and two different advertised savings on the same morning. If a brand you want appears on both sites, the stated MRP is often the thing that travels; the price is not.
Brand recognition sorts both shelves the same way
Group either shelf by house and the same shape appears: the names you know sit high and advertise small savings; the names you do not sit low and advertise large ones.
| Brand | Shelf | Listings | Price range | Badge range | Note |
|---|
| Buda Jeans Co | AJIO | 15 | Rs. 280 – Rs. 483 | 70% – 82% | The largest single block on AJIO's shelf, all low, all deep |
| The Indian Garage Co | AJIO | 7 | Rs. 369 – Rs. 546 | 72% – 82% | Same pattern, same band |
| JOHN PLAYERS | AJIO | 5 | Rs. 600 – Rs. 720 | 49% – 60% | Mid price, mid badge |
| PETER ENGLAND | AJIO | 10 | Rs. 635 – Rs. 1,151 | 35% – 56% | Higher prices, shallower badges |
| ARROW | AJIO | 5 | Rs. 840 – Rs. 1,499 | 40% – 65% | AJIO's dearest shirts, and not its deepest claims |
| LIONER ENTERPRISE | Myntra | 5 | Rs. 451 (all five) | 70% (all five) | Five identical tiles, none of them rated |
| MISCHIEF MONKEY | Myntra | 4 | Rs. 626 (all four) | 70% (all four) | Three of the four publish the same 19,208 ratings |
| H&M | Myntra | 1 | Rs. 1,154 | 23% | The shallowest badge in either read, on 11,922 ratings |
On AJIO the split is almost clean. One unfamiliar house supplied 15 of the 80 listings, all between Rs. 280 and Rs. 483 and all badged 70% or deeper. The two established shirting names in the read sat at Rs. 635–1,151 and Rs. 840–1,499, badged 35–56% and 40–65%. Not one established house in either read posted a badge above 65%.
Myntra does the same thing at its own scale. Its shallowest badge in the whole read — 23% — sits on an international high-street name at Rs. 1,154 with 11,922 ratings. Its 70% tiles are five copies of one shirt from a house with no published rating at all.
None of that makes the cheap shirts bad or the expensive ones good. This page read prices; it did not touch a garment. What the pattern does mean is practical: sorting either site by discount sorts it by brand obscurity, almost exactly, and that is not what most people think they are asking for when they tick the box.
How to actually use the two sites
If you know the brand and the fit you want, compare the rupee prices across both sites — the one brand in both reads was Rs. 41 cheaper on AJIO off an identical claimed MRP, and that kind of gap is easy to find and easy to miss.
If you are shopping by discount, stop. On both shelves the badge tracks how little-known the house is far more closely than it tracks value, and AJIO's median badge is six points deeper than Myntra's while its median stated MRP is lower.
If you are buying a name you do not recognise, Myntra is the only one of the two that will tell you what other buyers thought. Twenty-four of its 32 listings published a rating count; none of AJIO's 80 did. At the Rs. 300–600 end, where both shelves are thickest, that is the whole of the available evidence.
And read the repeats. Myntra's shelf contained five identical copies of one shirt and four of another; the count of listings on a page is not the count of garments you can choose between. Prices and rankings change continuously and both sites personalise results, so treat every figure here as one morning's reading rather than a standing fact.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is AJIO cheaper than Myntra for formal shirts?
On this read, yes, at every point of the range — but with a caveat worth more than the money. Reading 80 AJIO listings and 32 Myntra listings on 17 October 2026: AJIO's cheapest shirt was Rs. 120 against Myntra's Rs. 447, and its median was Rs. 562.50 against Rs. 637.50 — about 12% cheaper at the midpoint. The caveat: not one of AJIO's 80 listings published a star average or a rating count, while 24 of Myntra's 32 did, one of them with 232,259 ratings behind it. You are comparing a cheaper shelf with no published evidence against a dearer one with a lot of it. Both reads are one day of ranked, personalised search output, not either full catalogue.
Why are AJIO's discount percentages higher than Myntra's?
Because the badge is arithmetic off a stated MRP, and the two shelves state them differently. AJIO's badges ran 35% to 84% with a median of 70%; Myntra's ran 23% to 77% with a median of 64%. Yet AJIO's median stated MRP was lower — Rs. 1,774 against Rs. 1,949 — so the deeper badges come from lower selling prices rather than from larger claimed list prices. A six-point difference in median badge between two retailers tells you about their pricing conventions, not about which shirt is better value, and neither page here asserts that any stated MRP is false.
Is the same shirt cheaper on AJIO or Myntra?
Only one brand turned up on both shelves in this read, and it is worth stating precisely. MISCHIEF MONKEY states an identical MRP of Rs. 2,088 on both sites. AJIO sells at Rs. 585, badged 72%. Myntra sells at Rs. 626, badged 70%, across four separate tiles. That is Rs. 41, or about 7%, in AJIO's favour. But the listing names differ — "Men Tailored Fit Shirt" on AJIO against "Men Solid Spread Collar Cotton Formal Shirt" and others on Myntra — so this is not proof that one identical garment is sold at two prices, and this page does not claim it is. What it shows is one house's identical claimed list price producing two prices and two badges on one morning.
Which site has more shirt brands?
AJIO, on this read, by a wide margin: 27 distinct brands across 80 listings against Myntra's 16 across 32. The difference is almost entirely a longer tail of unfamiliar houses at the cheap end — AJIO's single largest block was one such house with 15 shirts between Rs. 280 and Rs. 483. Myntra's shelf was more concentrated, but concentrated partly through repetition: five of its 32 tiles were the same shirt listed five times at Rs. 451, and four more were one shirt listed four times at Rs. 626. More brands is not automatically better; it does mean the cheap end of AJIO's shelf is mostly names with no published track record.
Which is better for buying a formal shirt, AJIO or Myntra?
This page cannot tell you, and it does not try. It read selling prices, stated MRPs, discount badges and — where published — star averages and rating counts. Nobody here bought, opened, wore, washed or inspected a single shirt, and no claim is made about fabric, cotton content, weave, stitching, buttons, fit, crease resistance or how long anything lasts. What the numbers support is narrower and more useful: AJIO is cheaper at the median and at the floor, Myntra is the only one of the two that publishes what buyers thought, and on both shelves the recognisable houses sit higher and advertise smaller savings than the unfamiliar ones. 'Tailored Fit', 'Slim Fit' and 'Premium' are the listings' own words, unverified.

Zoutons may earn a commission when you buy through links on this page. Every selling price, stated MRP, discount badge, star average and rating count here was read on 17 October 2026 from each retailer's own response — ajio.com's search response for "men formal shirt" and "men shirt" (80 distinct listings) and myntra.com/men-formal-shirts across two pages (32 distinct listings) — both logged out, from India, with nothing purchased and neither retailer contacted. Both sets are one morning of ranked, personalised search output and are not either retailer's full catalogue; a different reader, a different device or a different hour will return a different set, and every median, range, count and comparison on this page describes only the listings read. The two samples are of different sizes, which is stated beside every figure rather than hidden. Stated MRPs are the sellers' own figures, reproduced exactly as printed. This page does NOT assert that any stated MRP is false, inflated or fabricated, or that any garment has or has not sold at its stated MRP — we have no evidence either way. Where one brand appears on both shelves, the listing names differ and this page does not claim the two listings are the same garment; it reports only that the brand states one identical MRP on both sites. The absence of star averages and rating counts on AJIO's listings is AJIO's own publishing choice as its response returned it on this date, is not an omission of ours, and is not presented as a fault; a retailer may publish buyer feedback elsewhere in its product pages or app. THIS PAGE IS A PRICE READ: it makes no claim about fabric, cotton content, GSM, weave, stitching, buttons, lining, crease or stain resistance, colourfastness, shrinkage, fit, comfort, tailoring or how long any garment lasts, and it does not say that either retailer is better, more reliable or safer to buy from, or that any shirt is well made or suits anyone. 'Tailored Fit', 'Slim Fit', 'Regular Fit', 'Premium' and 'Cotton' are the listings' own printed words, reproduced as printed and unverified. We did not buy, open, wear, wash or test anything. Prices change without notice and can differ at checkout after coupons, bank offers or delivery charges; the price shown at your checkout prevails over anything here.
