Uniqlo sells 357 products in India at fourteen prices. Not fourteen bands - fourteen numbers, every one ending in 90, from Rs. 290 to Rs. 9,990, with 107 products sitting on Rs. 1,490. It publishes no MRP at all.
Myntra prices every listing separately against its own stated MRP, and in the hundred shorts and skirts listings we read the same day, the discount tracked the aisle rather than the garment: a median 47 per cent on men's shorts against 66 per cent on women's skirts, on prices that overlap. Here is what each system does to the decision you are making.
📅 Two same-day reads, 27 August 2026
Uniqlo: 357 products, 14 list prices, no MRP
Myntra: 100 listings, MRPs Rs. 449 to Rs. 4,549
📅 Update log:
27 Aug 2026 — first published. The Uniqlo figures come from a read of the entire India catalogue through uniqlo.com/in's own commerce API on 27 August 2026: 357 products, each carrying a list price, a gender, an image and, on 85 of them, a customer rating. The Myntra figures come from that storefront's own listing data for three category pages the same day - men's shorts, women's shorts and women's skirts, 100 listings in total, all carrying a price and an MRP and 71 carrying a rating. The comparison is between pricing systems and not between individual garments: the Myntra sample is three shelves rather than the whole store, and that limit is stated in the body text as well as here. Median discounts, rung counts, markdown destinations and share-of-catalogue percentages are our arithmetic over the two retailers' own published numbers. We re-read both sources and log any change in the ladder, the median badges or the rating coverage.
Fourteen prices against a hundred MRPs
We read both storefronts on 27 August 2026. Uniqlo's entire India catalogue - 357 products - carries fourteen list prices, every one ending in 90, from Rs. 290 to Rs. 9,990. A hundred and seven of those products, three in every ten, cost exactly Rs. 1,490. Nothing on the site is priced Rs. 1,349 or Rs. 2,199, because those are not rungs on the ladder.
Myntra works the opposite way. Across the hundred shorts and skirts listings we read the same day, every listing carried its own MRP and its own discount, and those MRPs ran from Rs. 449 to Rs. 4,549 for garments selling between Rs. 305 and Rs. 983. The price you pay is scattered; the price you are told you are saving is scattered further.
One consequence for a shopper is immediate. On Uniqlo, comparing two products on price tells you almost nothing, because the price was assigned to a band. On Myntra, comparing two products on discount tells you almost nothing, because the badge is a property of the seller's MRP convention. Both stores require you to ignore a number that looks informative.
| Uniqlo list price | Products at that price | Share of catalogue |
|---|
| Rs. 290 | 9 | 3% of the catalogue |
| Rs. 490 | 11 | 3% of the catalogue |
| Rs. 690 | 16 | 4% of the catalogue |
| Rs. 990 | 24 | 7% of the catalogue |
| Rs. 1,290 | 5 | 1% of the catalogue |
| Rs. 1,490 | 107 | 30% of the catalogue |
| Rs. 1,990 | 39 | 11% of the catalogue |
| Rs. 2,490 | 39 | 11% of the catalogue |
| Rs. 2,990 | 50 | 14% of the catalogue |
| Rs. 3,490 | 25 | 7% of the catalogue |
| Rs. 3,990 | 9 | 3% of the catalogue |
| Rs. 4,990 | 13 | 4% of the catalogue |
| Rs. 5,990 | 9 | 3% of the catalogue |
| Rs. 9,990 | 1 | 0% of the catalogue |
💡 Uniqlo publishes no MRP at all. There is no struck-through figure anywhere on the India storefront. When a product is on offer, the higher number shown is Uniqlo's own earlier list price for that same product - a narrower claim than an MRP, and a checkable one.
What a discount means on each site
On Myntra, the badge tracks the aisle. Median discount on men's shorts in our read was 47 per cent, on women's shorts 55 and on women's skirts 66 - while the selling prices of all three shelves sat in the same Rs. 300 to Rs. 1,000 band. The clearest illustration is a pair of listings Rs. 111 apart: a U.S. Polo Assn. lounge short at Rs. 713 off a stated Rs. 849, badged 16 per cent, and a satin maxi skirt at Rs. 824 off a stated Rs. 3,999, badged 79.
On Uniqlo, a markdown is a move down the ladder. Sixty-eight of the 357 products were on offer, and every single one landed on a price the ladder already used - Rs. 590, 790, 990, 1,490, 1,990 or 2,490 - with 38 of the 68 landing on Rs. 990. That makes the percentage almost meaningless and the destination very predictable: a Rs. 1,490 tee that gets marked down becomes a Rs. 990 tee.
So the same instinct - wait for the discount - pays off differently. On Uniqlo you are waiting for a specific garment to drop one rung, and you can name the price in advance. On Myntra you are waiting for nothing in particular, because the badge was there before you arrived and will be there after you leave.
| Uniqlo India | Myntra (shorts and skirts sample) |
|---|
| Distinct list prices | 14, all ending in 90 | One MRP per listing, Rs. 449 to Rs. 4,549 |
| Is an MRP published? | No - one price, or a marked-down price | Yes, on every listing |
| Typical discount | 0% on 289 of 357 products | 47% men's shorts, 55% women's shorts, 66% skirts |
| Where a markdown lands | On an existing rung - 38 of 68 on Rs. 990 | Wherever the seller's MRP puts it |
| Cheapest item in the read | Rs. 290 socks | Rs. 305 lounge shorts |
| Dearest item in the read | Rs. 9,990 trench coat | Rs. 1,999 chino shorts |
| Price spread | 34x, across the whole catalogue | 6.5x, across three shelves |
₹ A like-for-like caution. Our Myntra sample is three category pages - men's shorts, women's shorts and women's skirts - and not the whole store, while the Uniqlo figures are its entire India catalogue. Myntra sells thousands of things Uniqlo does not stock and carries brands at price points Uniqlo's ladder has no room for. This compares how the two price, not which is cheaper for a given garment.
The customer evidence is the other way round
If you buy on ratings, Myntra wins this comparison and it is not close. Seventy-one of the hundred listings we read carried a rating, and the counts run into the thousands: 17,811 on a Decathlon gym short, 18,975 on an Anayna maxi skirt, 7,794 on a Kotty denim midi. Uniqlo carried a rating on 85 of 357 products, only ten had ten or more ratings, and the largest count in the entire catalogue is 60.
There is a catch on the Myntra side worth knowing before those numbers persuade you. Myntra pools rating counts across a style family and shows the family total on each listing in it. Four different U.S. Polo Assn. shorts in our pull all showed exactly 9,383 ratings; four Pepe Jeans lounge shorts all showed 7,225; two Anayna skirts both showed 18,975. Those ratings exist, but the number under the stars is not a count of people who bought that specific colour or cut.
Uniqlo's problem is the opposite and simpler: there is not enough data. Nothing at Rs. 5,990 or Rs. 9,990 has been rated at all. What you get instead is consistency - the same DRY-EX knit, the same Supima cotton, the same 3D-knit construction across seasons - which is a different kind of assurance and only useful if you have bought from the brand before.
| Evidence | Uniqlo India | Myntra sample |
|---|
| Listings carrying any rating | 85 of 357 (24%) | 71 of 100 (71%) |
| Largest rating count | 60 | 18,975 |
| Listings with 10+ ratings | 10 of 357 | Most of the 71 |
| Counts pooled across a family? | Not observed in this read | Yes - 9,383 on four U.S. Polo listings |
| Duplicate listings of one product | Colourway variants of one style | One Roadster short listed three times |

- Uniqlo ratings. 85 products carried any rating; 10 carried ten or more. Largest counts: 60 (men's straight jeans), 39 (women's ribbed henley), 35 (3D knit skipper polo).
- Myntra, 100 listings, 27 Aug 2026. Men's shorts 32, women's shorts 34, women's skirts 34. Prices Rs. 305 to Rs. 1,999; stated MRPs Rs. 449 to Rs. 4,549. Median discounts 47%, 55% and 66% by shelf.
- Myntra outliers. Three listings carried no discount at all - The Souled Store boxers at Rs. 499, Marks & Spencer chino shorts at Rs. 1,999 and an H&M lounge short at Rs. 1,499. The largest badge was 79% on a satin maxi skirt at Rs. 824.
- Myntra pooled ratings. 9,383 appeared on four U.S. Polo Assn. listings, 7,225 on four Pepe Jeans listings, 18,975 on two Anayna skirts, and 752, 153 and 1,699 each on two listings.
Which one to shop, and for what
Shop Myntra when you want a specific thing at a specific price, when the brand matters to you, or when you want thousands of people to have bought it first. The range is enormous, the evidence is real even where it is pooled, and at the bottom of the shelf the prices are genuinely lower than anything Uniqlo's ladder reaches - Rs. 305 for cotton lounge shorts has no Uniqlo equivalent.
Shop Uniqlo when you want to stop thinking about price. Fourteen numbers, no MRP theatre, and a fabric that will be the same next season - and if the specific garment you want is on the Rs. 1,490 rung and seasonal, you now know it will most likely arrive at Rs. 990 rather than at some unpredictable figure. What you give up is choice, customer evidence and the bottom of the price range.
The one rule that transfers to both: read the rupee price and the fabric, ignore the percentage. On Myntra that means checking whether the brand has shops behind its stated MRP - U.S. Polo Assn., Pepe Jeans, Decathlon and Van Heusen all discount 10 to 36 per cent from believable numbers, while online-only labels discount 63 to 79 from invented ones. On Uniqlo it means asking whether you want a garment at its rung, since that is the only question the price can answer.
The short version
Uniqlo India prices 357 products on fourteen rungs, publishes no MRP, and marks down onto prices the ladder already uses - 38 of its 68 current markdowns land on Rs. 990 exactly.
Myntra prices every listing individually against its own MRP, and in our three-shelf read the badge tracked the aisle rather than the garment: 47 per cent median on men's shorts, 66 on women's skirts, on prices that overlap.
Myntra has far more customer evidence - 71 per cent of listings rated, counts to 18,975 against Uniqlo's largest count of 60 - but pools those counts across style families. Both stores reward the same habit: compare rupees and fabric, not percentages.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Uniqlo cheaper than Myntra in India?
Not at the bottom of the range, and the question needs splitting. Uniqlo's entire India catalogue, read on 27 August 2026, spans Rs. 290 to Rs. 9,990 across fourteen list prices - so its floor is a pair of socks and its cheapest T-shirt is Rs. 990. In our read of three Myntra shelves the same day, cotton lounge shorts started at Rs. 305 and most of the shelf sold between Rs. 300 and Rs. 1,000, from brands Uniqlo does not compete with on price at all. What Uniqlo offers instead is consistency: a plain cotton crew, a licensed graphic tee and a DRY-EX performance tee all cost the same Rs. 1,490, so the fabric is the only variable left. Cheaper is Myntra; more predictable is Uniqlo.
Why does Uniqlo never show a discount percentage?
Because it publishes no MRP on the India storefront - there is no struck-through figure in the data at all. On 27 August 2026, 289 of its 357 products showed a single price with no reference price beside it. The 68 products that were on offer showed Uniqlo's own earlier list price for that same product, which is a narrower and more checkable claim than an MRP: it is a price Uniqlo itself charged rather than a manufacturer's recommendation that may never have been charged by anyone. The practical effect is that you cannot sort Uniqlo by discount, and there is nothing to sort. On Myntra you can, and our read suggests you should not: sorting by badge puts a Rs. 824 satin skirt above a Rs. 713 branded short.
Are Myntra's discounts on shorts and skirts real?
They are arithmetic over a stated MRP, and how much that MRP means depends on who set it. In our read of 100 listings, brands that also sell offline - U.S. Polo Assn., Pepe Jeans, Decathlon, Van Heusen, Enamor, Marks & Spencer, H&M - stated MRPs between Rs. 449 and Rs. 1,499 and discounted by 0 to 50 per cent. Online-only labels stated Rs. 1,999 to Rs. 4,549 for garments selling at the same money and discounted by 63 to 79. The saving is real in the sense that you pay the lower number; the reference price is what varies. The test we use is whether the brand has shops charging that MRP - which is why a 16 per cent badge from U.S. Polo Assn. is more informative than a 79 per cent one from a label you cannot buy anywhere else.
Which has better customer reviews, Uniqlo or Myntra?
Myntra, by a wide margin, with one caveat. Seventy-one of the hundred listings we read carried a rating and the counts run to five figures - 18,975 on an Anayna maxi skirt, 17,811 on a Decathlon gym short. Uniqlo carried a rating on 85 of 357 products, only ten of them had ten ratings or more, and the largest count anywhere in its catalogue was 60. The caveat is that Myntra pools rating counts across a style family: four U.S. Polo Assn. shorts listings all showed exactly 9,383 ratings and four Pepe Jeans listings all showed 7,225, so the figure under the stars is a family total rather than a count for that specific colour or cut. It is still far more evidence than Uniqlo's storefront offers.
When do Uniqlo prices drop in India?
Uniqlo runs continuous limited-offer pricing rather than announced seasonal events, and on 27 August 2026 about one product in five - 68 of 357 - carried an offer price. The useful pattern is where those offers land rather than when they start: every one of the 68 sat on a price already on the ladder, and 38 of them on Rs. 990 exactly. Two more sat at Rs. 590 and thirteen at Rs. 790, both of which are markdown-only prices that nothing is listed at. So a Rs. 1,490 tee that gets moved becomes a Rs. 990 tee, and seasonal items - licensed graphic prints in particular - are the ones that move. Evergreen basics and the best-rated products in the catalogue were largely at full price in this read.
Prices & codes last verified: 27 August 2026
Both datasets on this page were read on 27 August 2026 from the retailers' own sources with no account logged in: Uniqlo's entire India catalogue of 357 products through the commerce API that uniqlo.com/in itself calls, and 100 Myntra listings from that site's own listing data for three category pages - men's shorts, women's shorts and women's skirts. The Myntra sample is therefore three shelves and not the whole store, while the Uniqlo figures cover its full India range; the two are compared as pricing systems rather than as garment-for-garment prices, and no claim is made that either retailer is cheaper for a given item. Counts, medians, rung shares and markdown destinations are our arithmetic over the retailers' own published numbers and describe one day's read, which will drift as stock changes. Uniqlo publishes no MRP on this storefront; where a product is marked down, the higher figure is Uniqlo's own earlier list price for that same product. Myntra's MRPs are the figures its listings display and we have not verified that any garment was sold at one, so every Myntra percentage quoted is arithmetic over its own two numbers rather than a measured saving. Where we describe brands as having physical shops behind their list prices, that is context for reading the number and not a verification of it, and we make no claim about how any seller sets its MRP. Rating averages and counts are the retailers' own published figures, are not independently verified, and in Myntra's case are pooled across style families on several listings - 9,383 appears on four U.S. Polo Assn. listings and 7,225 on four Pepe Jeans listings. Fabric and construction commentary is general product knowledge reported rather than tested: we have not handled, worn or washed any garment referred to here. Prices change frequently and can differ at checkout after a coupon or bank offer - check the live listing before you pay. Zoutons may earn a commission if you buy through links on this page; it does not change what you pay, and nothing here was reviewed or approved by Uniqlo or Myntra.
