Every Udemy course we could read on the India storefront on 28 August 2026 costs between Rs. 449 and Rs. 609. Forty distinct courses, thirteen prices, no exceptions in either direction.
The badges beside those prices run from 35 per cent to 86, and that spread is not about the deal - it is about what list price each course was launched at. Here is the split, the arithmetic behind the 86 per cent cards, and what happened to the Rs. 399 floor we recorded three days ago.

📅 Update log:
28 Aug 2026 — first published. Prices come from a rendered read of udemy.com/courses/development/ and udemy.com/courses/business/ on the morning of 28 August 2026, from an Indian IP, with no account logged in and no coupon applied; plain requests to udemy.com are refused from our servers, so the pages were fetched through a browser session that clears the site's challenge. We logged 44 cards, 40 of them distinct courses after removing duplicates that repeated with a longer description, and recorded each card's checkout price, struck-through list price and badge. The 25 August figures used for comparison are our own earlier read of the same development shelf by the same method. Udemy prices vary by account state and session, so this is one logged-out snapshot rather than a universal price list. We re-read both shelves and log any change in the price band, the two MRP groups or the promotional fraction.
One price band, two completely different badges
We read 44 course cards on Udemy India's development and business shelves on the morning of 28 August 2026 - 40 of them distinct courses. Every single one sells for between Rs. 449 and Rs. 609. That is the whole range. Thirteen different checkout prices, no course cheaper, none dearer.
The struck-through number beside those prices is where the shelf splits in two. Thirty-one cards state an MRP between Rs. 1,919 and Rs. 4,229 and carry a badge with a median of 86 per cent. Nine state an MRP between Rs. 799 and Rs. 1,239 and carry a badge with a median of 44. The nine are almost entirely the recent AI and agent courses.
So the two halves of the shelf cost the same and advertise differently. A Claude Code course at Rs. 449 with a 44 per cent badge is not a worse deal than a Python bootcamp at Rs. 459 with an 86 per cent badge - it is ten rupees cheaper. The badge is telling you what list price the course was launched at, and nothing else.
| New AI and agent courses (low stated MRP) | You pay | Stated MRP | Badge |
|---|
| AI Coder: Complete Claude Code & Coding Agents Course | Rs. 449 | Rs. 799 | 44% |
| Intro to AI Agents and Agentic AI | Rs. 449 | Rs. 799 | 44% |
| The EU AI Act Explained: Compliance and Practical Impact | Rs. 449 | Rs. 799 | 44% |
| AI Engineer Agentic Track: The Complete Agent & MCP Course | Rs. 459 | Rs. 799 | 43% |
| The Complete Prompt Engineering for AI Bootcamp (2026) | Rs. 499 | Rs. 799 | 38% |
| Introduction to OpenAI API & ChatGPT API for Developers | Rs. 529 | Rs. 819 | 35% |
| AI for Business Leaders | Rs. 569 | Rs. 869 | 35% |
| The Complete Claude Code & Claude Cowork Masterclass [2026] | Rs. 449 | Rs. 1,239 | 64% |
| Business Communication Skills: Professional Communication | Rs. 449 | Rs. 1,239 | 64% |
💡 Compare the rupee price, never the percentage. On this shelf the two numbers point in opposite directions: the courses with the smallest badges include the cheapest course we found. If you are choosing between an 86 per cent card and a 44 per cent card, the badge is the one piece of information on the page that cannot help you.
On the older catalogue, the price is just the MRP divided by seven
Look down the high-MRP column and the arithmetic repeats. Rs. 459 off a stated Rs. 3,199. Rs. 509 off Rs. 3,549. Rs. 579 off Rs. 4,019. Rs. 609 off Rs. 4,229. Every one of the 31 high-MRP cards charges between 14.3 and 14.9 per cent of its own stated MRP - a seventh, near enough, every time.
That is not a discount in the ordinary sense; it is a pricing rule. Udemy sets a list price per course, then sells at a fixed fraction of it during a promotion, which is why the badge lands on 85 or 86 per cent on card after card regardless of subject, length or instructor. The variation you see in the checkout price - Rs. 459 against Rs. 609 - is entirely a variation in the list price.
It also explains a pairing that would otherwise look like a mistake. Two courses from the same AI Engineer series sat side by side in our read: the Agentic Track at Rs. 459 off Rs. 799, badged 43 per cent, and the Core Track at Rs. 459 off Rs. 3,289, badged 86. Same series, same price, same day, two different list prices behind them.

₹ What Udemy's struck-through price is. It is the course's own list price, set by Udemy and the instructor, not a manufacturer's MRP and not a price charged by another seller. Courses are bought at the promotional price by most Indian buyers most of the time, because promotions on this storefront are close to continuous. Treat the higher figure as a ceiling that exists mainly between promotions.
The Rs. 399 floor has gone, three days after we recorded it
We read the same development shelf on 25 August 2026 and every bootcamp on it was Rs. 399, badged 88 or 89 per cent. On 28 August the identical courses - the same Python bootcamps, the same web development courses, from the same instructors - are Rs. 459, badged 86. The stated MRPs have not moved at all: Rs. 3,199 then, Rs. 3,199 now.
That is a 15 per cent increase in what you pay across three days, produced entirely by moving the promotional fraction from about an eighth of the list price to about a seventh. Nothing about the courses changed. It is a useful reminder that on this storefront the number to watch is the rupee price on the day, because the badge stayed in the same neighbourhood - 86 to 89 per cent - through the whole move.
The practical consequence: Udemy's promotional price steps rather than drifts, and the steps are days apart. If you are buying more than one course, buying them on the same day matters more than waiting for a named sale, and a Rs. 60 difference per course is what a step looks like.

The full read: 40 distinct cards, and how we counted
- Source and date. udemy.com/courses/development/ and udemy.com/courses/business/, rendered on 28 August 2026 from an Indian IP with no account logged in and no coupon applied. 44 cards were readable; 40 were distinct courses after removing cards that repeated with a longer description.
- Checkout prices seen, and how many cards at each. Rs. 449 (6), Rs. 459 (8), Rs. 469 (1), Rs. 479 (5), Rs. 489 (1), Rs. 499 (4), Rs. 509 (7), Rs. 529 (1), Rs. 549 (1), Rs. 559 (1), Rs. 569 (3), Rs. 579 (1), Rs. 609 (1).
- Low-MRP group: 9 cards. Stated MRPs Rs. 799 (5 cards), Rs. 819, Rs. 869 and Rs. 1,239 (2). Badges 35 to 64 per cent, median 44. Seven of the nine are AI, agent or LLM courses.
- High-MRP group: 31 cards. Stated MRPs Rs. 1,919 to Rs. 4,229. Badges 77 to 86 per cent, median 86. Checkout price as a share of stated MRP: 14.3 to 14.9 per cent on every card in the group.
- The 25 August comparison is our own earlier read of the development shelf, published in our Udemy course price and Udemy vs Coursera pages linked below. Same method, same shelf, same absence of an account.
- What we did not do. We did not buy anything, did not log in, did not apply a coupon, and did not check whether a price differs for a returning visitor or on the app. Udemy prices are known to vary by account state and by session, so treat these as one logged-out read rather than a universal price list.
How to buy on a shelf priced like this
Ignore the badge and sort by rupee price. The 40 courses in this read span Rs. 160 from cheapest to dearest, which is less than the price of one of them, so the price is rarely the deciding factor between two courses you actually want. Where it does matter, note that the cheapest cards on the shelf were AI courses with the smallest badges on the page.
Judge the course on its own evidence instead: the rating and the number of ratings behind it, when it was last updated, how many hours of video and whether the syllabus covers what you need. Those are the fields that differ meaningfully between a Rs. 459 card and a Rs. 609 one; the discount percentage does not.
And buy in one session. Our two reads three days apart caught the same courses at Rs. 399 and then Rs. 459, so a basket assembled over a fortnight will be priced at whatever step the storefront is on when each item goes in. If a course you want is at the bottom of the band today, that is as good a reason to buy as any named sale.
The short version
Every one of the 40 distinct Udemy courses we read on 28 August 2026 sells between Rs. 449 and Rs. 609, whatever its badge says.
The shelf runs two MRP systems: 31 legacy courses with Rs. 1,919 to Rs. 4,229 list prices badged a median 86 per cent, and 9 mostly-AI courses with Rs. 799 to Rs. 1,239 list prices badged a median 44. Same money either way.
On the legacy group the sale price is a fixed fraction of the list price - 14.3 to 14.9 per cent on every card - so the percentage tells you nothing. And the Rs. 399 floor we recorded on 25 August was gone by 28 August, replaced by Rs. 459 on the identical courses with identical MRPs.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a Udemy course cost in India right now?
Between Rs. 449 and Rs. 609 on the development and business shelves, read on 28 August 2026 with no account logged in. That band covered all 40 distinct courses we found, with the largest clusters at Rs. 459 (eight courses) and Rs. 509 (seven). The cheapest cards were Rs. 449 and included AI and agent courses as well as a business communication course. Three days earlier, on 25 August, the same development shelf was priced at a flat Rs. 399, so this band moves in steps of a few tens of rupees rather than staying fixed. Prices on Udemy are also known to differ by account state and session, so the figure you see when logged in may not match a logged-out read like ours.
Why do some Udemy courses show 86% off and others only 44%?
Because the courses were launched at different list prices, not because one is a better deal. In our 28 August 2026 read, 31 courses stated MRPs of Rs. 1,919 to Rs. 4,229 and badged a median 86 per cent, while nine - almost all recent AI, agent and LLM courses - stated MRPs of Rs. 799 to Rs. 1,239 and badged a median 44. Both groups sell in the same Rs. 449 to Rs. 609 band. The clearest illustration is two courses from the same AI Engineer series: the Agentic Track at Rs. 459 off a stated Rs. 799 (43 per cent) and the Core Track at Rs. 459 off a stated Rs. 3,289 (86 per cent). Identical price, identical day, badges 43 points apart.
Is the Rs. 399 Udemy price still available?
Not in our 28 August 2026 read. On 25 August every bootcamp on the development shelf showed Rs. 399 with an 88 or 89 per cent badge; three days later the same courses from the same instructors showed Rs. 459 and Rs. 509 with 86 per cent badges, and the stated MRPs had not changed at all - Rs. 3,199 and Rs. 3,549 on both days. So the change was in the promotional fraction Udemy applies to its own list price, from about an eighth to about a seventh. Whether Rs. 399 returns is not something we can predict; what the two reads show is that the floor moves within days, which is an argument for buying the course you have already decided on rather than waiting for a number.
Do Udemy coupon codes lower the price below Rs. 449?
Not in anything we could verify on 28 August 2026. Every price on this page is the logged-out storefront price with no code applied, and the storefront price is already a promotional one - on the legacy catalogue it is roughly a seventh of the stated list price. Instructor-issued coupon links do exist and can go lower on individual courses, but they are course-specific, time-limited and issued by the instructor rather than by Udemy, so we do not publish a code we have not seen work. The reliable lever is timing: our two reads three days apart differed by Rs. 60 per course on identical MRPs, which is larger than most codes we have been able to check.
Are the AI courses on Udemy worth Rs. 449?
That is a judgement about content and we have not taken any of these courses, so treat this as price context rather than a review. What the data shows is that the AI and agent courses are not priced at a premium: at Rs. 449 to Rs. 569 they sit at the bottom and middle of the same band as a decade-old Python bootcamp, and three of the four cheapest cards in our read were AI courses. Their smaller badges reflect low launch list prices, typically Rs. 799, rather than a shallower discount. Judge them the way you would judge any course here - rating count, last-updated date, hours of video, syllabus - and not by the percentage on the card.
Prices & codes last verified: 28 August 2026
Every price, list price and badge on this page was read from a live course card on udemy.com/courses/development/ and udemy.com/courses/business/ on 28 August 2026, from an Indian IP, with no account logged in, no coupon applied and no purchase made. Udemy is known to show different prices depending on whether a visitor is signed in, which device or app they use, and which promotion is running at that moment, so this is one logged-out snapshot and not a universal price list; the price you see may differ. The struck-through figure on a Udemy card is the course's own list price set by Udemy and the instructor - it is not a manufacturer's MRP and not a price charged by another seller, and because promotions on this storefront are close to continuous, few buyers pay it. Percentages quoted are arithmetic over the two numbers the card itself printed. The 25 August 2026 comparison figures are our own earlier read of the same shelf by the same method and are reproduced here for contrast, not as a price you can still get. We have not taken, completed or assessed the quality of any course named here, and nothing on this page is a recommendation about course content, instructors or outcomes - course counts, ratings and syllabi should be checked on the course page itself before buying. Instructor-issued coupon codes exist outside the storefront price and are not covered here because we do not publish codes we have not seen work. Prices change frequently and in steps of days rather than weeks; check the live course page before you pay. Zoutons may earn a commission if you buy through links on this page; it does not change what you pay, and nothing here was reviewed or approved by Udemy.
