TVS has managed to do well with the Sport commuter bike with a famous tagline “Mileage ka baap”. TVS Sport is a budget-friendly bike that offers a great look and amazing ride quality. The fuel-efficient 100 cc Dura Life single-cylinder engine makes 7.8PS and 7.5Nm of torque. The design hasn’t changed a bit, except for some graphic addition. Keeping it fresh are 5-spoke alloy wheels and electric starter. Although the instrument console is basic with speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge, and economy indicator.

Pros

  • Instrument console gets eco meter and fuel gauge

  • Fuel efficient engine

  • Electric start works in any gear

Cons

  • No rack provided to mount luggage

  • No optional disc brakes offered

  • Lacks low-end torque

What are the available variants and colour options?

The TVS Sport is offered in three main variants – spoked rims, spoked rims with electric start, and alloy wheels with electric start. Three other variants have linked brakes on offer. The base kick start spoke trim is priced at Rs. 39,900, the mid-level kick start alloy trim is priced at Rs. 46,700. The electric start alloy trim is priced at Rs. 49,901. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.

The TVS Sport is available in eight colour options, namely, Black Silver, Indigo Streak, Titanium Grey, Mercury Grey, Blaze Red, Volcano Red, White Red and Dazzling White. The standard features include a two-pod instrument cluster and drum brakes for both the front and rear. Also, linked brakes are available as an option.

What is the power source in this TVS Sport?

Powering the TVS Sport is a 109cc single-cylinder petrol engine that produces 7.4bhp and 7.5Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a four-speed gearbox. It is built on a single cradle tubular frame. The suspension duties are carried out with telescopic forks in front and five-step adjustable hydraulic rear shock absorber.

Talking about the competition, the Hero HF Deluxe manages to develop better power and torque than the TVS Sport. Also, the HF Deluxe is priced lesser than the TVS Sport and Bajaj Platina.

How quick is the TVS Sport for your daily commuting needs?

We must say that TVS Sport is not as quick as its peers. It takes more than 9 seconds to achieve 60 kmph from halt. With a 100 cc engine, we can’t expect it to do more. Also, the Sport’s top speed is limited to 85 kmph and that’s again disappointing. Well, looking at its lightweight design, you can’t expect to travel at higher speed with TVS Sport. You may experience severe fatigue while riding at higher speed on a lightweight bike.

How sure-footed are the brakes?

TVS Sport comes with drum brakes on both front and rear wheels. At Least the manufacturer should have offered disc brakes as an option. Well, rivals like Bajaj Platina do offer disc brakes on upper trims. The braking system is simple and there’s nothing to brag about. The braking is soft at the time and easy to operate as the kerb weight is low.

What is the mileage returned by TVS Sport?

The mileage king is the TVS Sport. It has the smallest engine of the lot and the figures & the weight is low which in turns helps TVS achieving the highest mileage of the trio. But on the flip side, it also has the low capacity fuel tank which lowers its overall range of commute and that’s where the Platina comes to the show.

How is the ride dynamics?

The suspension duties are carried out by front telescopic hydraulic suspension and 5-way adjustable rear suspension. The ride is comfortable with large tyres and light kerb weight. The engine manages to work smoothly with a 4-gear setup. You can easily electric the bike at any gear that really helps while going across traffic. The seats are wide and supportive enough to make the ride comfortable for both rider and the pillion.

How comfortably are you seated on the TVS Sport while travelling on roads?

TVS Sport is good at handling in the city. The best thing about the TVS sport is that you can electric start the bike in any gear. With a seat height of 790 mm, the TVS Sport feels well suited for tall people as well. However, we felt that the tyres would have been better so that it could provide traction while cornering or braking.

How does the Competition stack up against TVS Sport?

TVS Sport VS Hero HF Deluxe

Hero HF Deluxe is a 100cc entry-level motorcycle with good mileage, which was introduced with an attempt to regain the pole position in the 100-cc category. It is powered by a 97.2cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke single cylinder OHC engine with 4-speed constant mesh gearbox which generates 7.8PS of power at 7500rpm and 8.04Nm of torque at 4500rpm.

HF deluxe has been equipped with drum brakes in front and rear and has hydraulic shockers in front and 2-step adjustable hydraulic shockers at the back. Comparatively, the TVS Sport gets a 5-way adjustable shocker in the rear that helps to maintain comfortable ride.

TVS Sport VS Bajaj Platina

Bajaj Platina is a good commuter bike in the 100cc segment but on long run felt short on power delivery. On the other hand, TVS Sport is good at power delivery and offers better ride handling than Platina.

Does the TVS Sport stand a chance against segment leaders?

TVS Sport is a value for money bike as it offers an exciting colour package and aesthetics at an exciting price. Unlike the rival bikes, the TVS Sport offers sporty figures along with superb mileage for daily commuters. The engine powering the TVS Sport is highly reliable and the company offers a 5-year warranty as well. So, make the right choice with TVS Sport.
