Skoda India is all set for the new BS6 emissions with its new Rapid. Showcased at the Auto Expo 2020, new Rapid is all about the new powerplant without any major changes to cosmetics. Skoda India has confirmed that it will ditch the diesel units for the BS6 updates and only petrol models will be sold in the Indian market. Skoda is trying to capture the customers with their level of customization options.
Ditching the older 1.6-litre MPI unit for the greater good, powering the new Rapid will be a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit producing 110 Bhp and 190 Nm of peak torque. Skoda has not yet confirmed the gearbox option for the new unit, but speculations reveal that a manual unit will be offered to keep the cost down and competitive. The new 1.0-litre engine will be BS6 ready and will pump out more power than the older unit which was evident to have oil burning issues.
Skoda showcased the BS6 version of their exclusive Rapid Monte Carlo which is already on sale as a BS4 unit. Monte Carlo comes with an array of cosmetic changes over regular models such as different designed alloy wheels. Monte Carlo is only available in Red and White colour.
