Amidst the dust blown away by Skoda's new concept car IN concept, Skoda Karoq finally made its debut to the Indian shores in the Auto Expo 2020. Karoq is a fully blown Mid-size SUV with its lines and cues borrowed from big brother Kodiaq. Skoda India is taking full advantage of the homologation free Import-rule which allows any manufacturer to bring in 2500 units of any model without making domestic changes. Skoda Karoq will be bought in the CBU(completely built unit) route, which means the car will be feature loaded just like its Euro-spec siblings.
Skoda is focusing on the growing demand for turbocharged petrol cars in the market which is a huge success in the case of many models of Skoda like Octavia VRS. Skoda will bring in Karoq which will be powered by the new 1.5-litre TSI engine paired with a 7-speed DSG gearbox, producing a healthy 150 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. The interiors of Karoq are typically Skoda with leather stitched seats, beautiful dashboard and digital infotainment screen gauging all the attention of occupants.
Outside you get new design headlights that will follow the new design language trend set by its bigger brother Kodiaq. Skoda Karoq surely looks like mini Kodiaq with similar body curves and stance set by those huge 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels. What's missing from the overall look is the bold character you expect from a Mid-size SUV like Jeep Compass.
Skoda Karoq is the ultimate competitor for the Mid-size SUV segment which includes Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson which recently got fresh updates. Skoda Karoq is expected to go on sale in India by mid-2020. Skoda has confirmed that the pricing will be very competitive to the segment, observing which we can expect Skoda Karoq to be priced around 18-22 lakhs(ex-showroom). Stay tuned for more on Skoda Karoq.
