Twenty-two haircare listings read on 24 September. Nykaa publishes a rating count on all 92 we found - which only shifts the question from whether there is evidence to how much of it there is.
We read Nykaa's hair colour, shampoo, conditioner, serum, mask and oil listings on 24 September 2026 - 92 distinct products with a price and a stated MRP. Every single one publishes a rating average and a rating count, which is worth stating plainly because the other two beauty shelves we read this week did not. What it does not mean is that every listing is evidenced. The counts here run from four people to 544,080, and on a search page those two numbers are displayed in the same typeface, in the same place, at the same size.
Every price below was pulled from Nykaa on September 24, 2026 and checked against the MRP on the listing. Stack them with the live codes on our Nykaa coupons page, which the deals desk re-verifies daily.
The best-evidenced end of Nykaa's haircare shelf - six listings carrying between 136,366 and 544,080 ratings each, at MRP multiples between 1.25 and 1.96.
The most-rated listing in this read by a factor of two.
Why it earned its spot Half a million ratings, on the largest badge in the top chapter.
A serum at Rs. 583 with the second-largest sample in the read.
Why it earned its spot Second-biggest sample here, at a modest 1.25 multiple.
The conditioner to the shampoo on card 01 - at Rs. 472 less.
Why it earned its spot Same range as the most-rated listing, at under half the price.
A rosemary hair oil at Rs. 351, rated by nearly 150,000 people.
Why it earned its spot The best-evidenced hair oil in the read.
The cheapest six-figure-rated listing on this shelf.
Why it earned its spot Under Rs. 200, with 148,128 ratings behind it.
Rs. 413 for the fourth six-figure count in this chapter.
Why it earned its spot Rounds out the best-evidenced end of the shelf.
Where Nykaa's counts describe a product rather than a listing: a Dove mask sharing 51,437 ratings across two sizes, a Love Beauty & Planet mask sharing 42,085 across a Rs. 205 price gap.
A Rs. 519 mask whose 51,437 ratings also sit on a Rs. 212 listing.
Why it earned its spot The clearest size-pooling on this shelf.
The larger of two Love Beauty & Planet masks sharing one pool.
Why it earned its spot Seated as the first half of a size pair.
The smaller size: less money, smaller badge, identical evidence.
Why it earned its spot The cheaper half of the pair.
An ayurvedic hair oil at Rs. 550 - listed twice at the same price.
Why it earned its spot A mid-sized sample in the crowded oil aisle.
Rs. 120 against a stated Rs. 239, with 927 ratings.
Why it earned its spot The cheapest conditioner here, at the shelf's biggest multiple.
The widest-spread aisle in this read. The largest discount badge here is 52 per cent, the largest MRP multiple 2.08 - and both come with 86,540 ratings attached.
Ninety rupees for a cream hair colour, with 23,951 ratings.
Why it earned its spot The floor of the shelf, and well evidenced.
Rs. 180 against a stated Rs. 375, with 86,540 ratings behind it.
Why it earned its spot The biggest badge here still comes with 86,540 ratings.
The same brand's cream colour at twice the price of card 12 - and a separate pool.
Why it earned its spot Shows that near-identical titles can be separate products.
A no-ammonia gel colour at Rs. 199, with a much smaller sample.
Why it earned its spot Where the counts start to fall away on this shelf.
A DIY highlighting kit at Rs. 332 - the only one of its kind here.
Why it earned its spot A well-rated listing at one of the tamest multiples on the shelf.
The dearest hair colour seated here, at Rs. 699 with 33,019 ratings.
Why it earned its spot High price, small badge, large sample.
Every listing on this shelf publishes a count. These four publish 4, 12, 39 and 116 - and one of them shows a perfect 5.0.
4.8 stars. The sample is four people.
Why it earned its spot The thinnest sample in the read, on one of the highest averages.
The only perfect five in the read, on twelve ratings.
Why it earned its spot A flawless average that means almost nothing.
Rs. 551 and a sample of 39 - small, but past the threshold.
Why it earned its spot Where a sample becomes just about readable.
A leave-in conditioner at Rs. 428, with the second-highest average here.
Why it earned its spot A high average on a sample worth about a hundredth of the shelf leaders'.
A salon-brand growth serum at Rs. 2,884, with 5,698 ratings.
Why it earned its spot The top of the shelf, and better evidenced than the Rs. 510 cards above it.
First: read the count, not the stars. On a shelf where everything is rated, the average stops being a filter - 4.3 to 4.5 covers most of this page - and the sample size is the only thing separating a verdict from an accident. Second: when two listings show the same count, they are one product in two pack sizes, so work out which size you actually want rather than taking the bigger badge; the larger pack wears the larger badge here because it declares the larger MRP. Third: do not shop this shelf on the percentage. The median badge is 15.5 per cent, the ceiling is 52, and the largest MRP multiple in 92 listings is 2.08 - so the badge range is too narrow to separate anything. Fourth: for hair colour specifically, the price range is Rs. 90 to Rs. 1,804 and the rating counts range from 12 to 86,540, so it is the aisle on this shelf where checking the count is worth the most.

Every selling price, stated MRP, discount badge, rating average and rating count on this page was read on 24 September 2026 from nykaa.com's own results for hair colour, shampoo, conditioner, hair serum, hair mask and hair oil, logged out, in India. 92 distinct listings returned a price and a stated MRP; 22 are seated. Nothing was bought.
All 92 listings in this read publish a rating average and a count - which is why the count, not the average, is the number we lead with on every card. They run from 4 to 544,080, with a median of 8,448. A rating pill appears only where a listing publishes at least 20 ratings, so two cards here carry none despite showing 4.8 and 5.0 on Nykaa.
Nykaa pools feedback across a product's pack sizes, so an identical count on two listings means one product rather than two. Two Love Beauty & Planet masks Rs. 205 apart share 42,085 ratings and a Dove mask shares 51,437 across two sizes; both cards say so and name the sibling. Where two similar listings carry different counts, as the two Streax cream colours do, we say that too.
For each listing we divide the stated MRP by the selling price. On this shelf they run from 1.01 to 2.08 - the median badge is 15.5 per cent and no listing in the full read of 92 declares even three times its price. We report the numbers as published and allege no wrongdoing by Nykaa or any brand.
'100% grey coverage', 'no ammonia', 'anti-frizz', 'anti-hairfall', 'hair growth', 'damage repair' and every other description on these cards is the listing's own text, reproduced as printed and not verified. Nothing here was applied to hair or scalp, washed out, patch-tested or measured, and no claim about growth, hairfall, grey coverage, allergy risk or safety is made or implied.
In our 24 September 2026 read the cheapest listing of any kind is a Streax cream hair colour at Rs. 90, badged 5% off a stated Rs. 95, with 4.3 from 23,951 ratings. The largest discount badge in the hair colour aisle is a Biotique Herbcolor at Rs. 180, badged 52% off a stated Rs. 375 - and unusually for a big badge, it carries 86,540 ratings. The dearest colour we seated is Rs. 699.
In this read, yes. All 92 haircare listings we found published both a rating average and a rating count, which is not what we found on either marketplace beauty shelf we read the same week. But the counts run from 4 to 544,080, with a median of 8,448, so a published rating is not the same thing as usable evidence: one listing here shows 5.0 stars from twelve ratings and another shows 4.8 from four.
Because Nykaa pools feedback across a product's pack sizes. In this read two Love Beauty & Planet Argan Oil masks - Rs. 473 and Rs. 268 - both carry 4.5 from 42,085 ratings, and a Dove 10-in-1 mask carries 4.5 from 51,437 on both its Rs. 519 and Rs. 212 listings. The count describes the product, not the size in front of you. Where two similar listings show different counts, as two Streax cream colours at Rs. 90 and Rs. 180 do, they are separate products.
TRESemmé's Keratin Smooth Anti-Frizz shampoo at Rs. 822, with 4.4 from 544,080 ratings - more than twice the next listing. After it come L'Oreal Paris Extraordinary Oil hair serum at Rs. 583 (4.5 from 295,289), the matching TRESemmé conditioner at Rs. 350 with 162,276, Soulflower's rosemary oil at Rs. 351 with 149,306 and Livon's serum at Rs. 199 with 148,128 - the cheapest six-figure-rated listing in the read.
Smaller, on this evidence. Across 92 listings the median badge is 15.5% and the largest is 52%, with stated MRPs running from 1.01 to 2.08 times the selling price. Reading Myntra's eye makeup shelf the same afternoon we found badges up to 79% and a stated MRP 4.74 times the price. Neither is a saving we have verified - an MRP is a number the seller displays - but the compressed range here does mean the percentage is close to useless as a way of ranking Nykaa listings.
