NMAT 2020 Registration will begin from July 2 and candidates can register till October 5, 2020. It is a national level MBA entrance exam, conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). A salient feature of NMAT is that candidates can retake the test thrice within a 75 day testing window from October 6 to December 19, 2020. It is a mandatory entrance test for admission into NMIMS Mumbai, and other MBA colleges across the country. NMIMS Mumbai, ISB (Certificate program), SPJIMR Mumbai (PGMPW), VIT Vellore, ISB (Certificate program), XIM Bhubaneswar and many other MBA colleges in India accept NMAT as an eligibility criterion. 

Check NMAT 2020 Exam Pattern

  • NMAT, also known as the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) Management Aptitude Test, was acquired by the Graduate Management Admission Council in 2015. Since then, it has been renamed as NMAT by GMAC.
  • It is a computer-based test and is conducted from the first week of October to the third week of December. Candidates can schedule the exam themselves and can retake it more than two times, along with rescheduling privileges. 
  • NMAT by GMAC grants candidates from the Philippines, South Africa, and Nigeria to apply to Indian colleges.
  • The aspirants have the privilege to send their NMAT scores to 5 institutes/ colleges when they fill the application form. 
  • There will be three sections in NMAT 2020 exam and these are Logical reasoning, English language and Quantitative aptitude. The candidates will get three marks for every correct question and there will be no negative marking. 
  • As per the decision of GMAC, approximately 35 B-Schools are going to accept the NMAT scores.

The exam operates in five windows, which will begin tentatively on October 17, 2020, and lasts till December 17, 2020. The five windows are: 

NMAT Window 1 = October 6 to October 16, 2020: The first paper and cycle is done.

NMAT Window 2 = October 16 to November 2, 2020: NMAT window 1 result is out. Study and analyze it, and decide whether you wish to retake the exam. 

NMAT Window 3 = November 3 to November 17, 2020: Counseling for the top tier candidates, targeting IIMs. Candidates reaching for a very good percentile are filtered. 

NMAT Window 4 = November 18 to December 2, 2020: CAT 2020 and IIFT 2020 lie in the 4th NMAT window. Selected candidates appear in this window. 

NMAT Window 5 = December 3 to December 19, 2020: The last leg of the paper pattern exam. Only sure candidates appear in it. 

NMAT 2020 Registration: How to Apply for the Exam?

The NMAT 2020 application process offers both normal and late registration windows for Indian candidates. 

  1. The normal registration process ends on October 5, 2020 
  2.  The late application fee will close on October 16, 2020 

Steps to register for the exam:

  1. Fresh Registration
    • Go to the link provided and enter your personal details.
    • Hit “Submit” on a new window, and verify your login with your email.
    • After verification, click “Login” and enter your email id and password.
    • Your NMAT registration is verified. 
  1. Select the Business School of your choice
    • Submit your contact information, personal details, work experience, and education qualifications, along with every detail asked.
    • Select your preferred programs for B-schools, Candidates will be charged an additional fee of INR 200/- per school/program. 
  1. Upload Photograph
    • Applicants need to upload a recent and colored passport-sized photograph in the following size:

  1. Recheck your entries of Submission for the NMAT Application Form
    • Check all the information and correct the errors, if any. 

Note: It is important to check the information checked in, as it can’t be edited or changed later on.

NMAT 2020 Application Process

In order to submit the online application form for NMAT 2020 exam, the aspirants should open and visit the official website of the entrance test.

  • Once the candidates are on the official website, they are required to click the option ‘Register Now’. Here, they need to fill and submit the details like names and contact number. 
  • If the candidates will successfully complete their registration, then they will get the detailed log in credentials to their registered email id and phone number. 
  • Now, the students should login to the official website and click on the link of ‘Application Form’. 
  • After that the candidates need to submit the essential information such as grades, academic qualification, choice of program for study and work experience. 
  • Now, the candidates get an opportunity to submit the names of their choice of five business schools. 
  • Once they fill all of the required details, the students will need to upload their scanned copy of passport photograph and signature. 
  • In the next step, the aspirants have to pay the exam fee. They can pay through debit/credit/ net banking/UPI/Mobile Wallets/American Express Card. The registration fee is INR 2000 (including GST). In case of late registration, the candidates need to pay INR 2500 (including GST). 
  • Now, the students can book the examination slot and submit the form. It is advised to the students to verify the details, otherwise if you submit it, you cannot edit it. 
  • At the end, the applicants need to take a copy of print out and keep it for further requirement. 

NMAT 2020 Registration Fee

NMAT 2020 Eligibility Criteria

There is an eligibility criterion that must be adhered to by the candidates appearing in the NMAT 2020, as prescribed by GMAC. Here’s what it entails: 

  1. Age limit: There is no age limit restriction.
  2. Educational Qualification: Must have a bachelor’s degree. 
  3. Minimum marks: At least 50% overall.
  4. Work experience: Candidates with 2-3 years of experience are preferred. 
  5. Provisional admission: Provisional degrees of students still in their last year of college is allowed. 
  6. The number of attempts: Candidates can only sit for the exams thrice. The best of the three scores are considered. The attempts include ‘absentee’ as well. 
  7. Fee payment: Candidates must be able to pay the application fees before the deadlines. 

NMAT 2020 Admit Card

Admit cards are released by the NMAT board soon after the registration. Candidates can log in to their account and check the card thoroughly before downloading it.

Documents to carry along with the Admit Card

Candidates are required to carry the following documents with them to the exam hall:

  1. A printout confirmation sent to the candidates.
  2. Admit card issued to the candidate by GMAC
  3. One photo ID and a signature ID (Original, not photocopies.)
  4. Passport
  5. Voter’s ID
  6. PAN Card 
  7. Aadhar Card

How to Download NMAT 2020 Admit Card?

Once they have successfully registered, candidates can download the admit card at nmat.org.in. To download the admit card candidates have to follow the instructions mentioned below:-

  1. Visit the official website of NMAT by GMAC. 
  2. Go to the link ‘Download NMAT by GMAC 2020 Admit Card.
  3. Enter your designated login-Id and password, and click on the "login" button.
  4. Download the admit card from the redirected page.
  5. Save it as PDF and check the details mentioned in it.

NMAT 2020 Scheduling Process

Once the students provide their NMAT 2020 registration fee, the students will get a password and username within 24 hours in the registered mail. On the other hand, the candidates can select their preferable time slot, examination centre and date.

  • The scheduling process is worked in the case of first come first serve basis.
  • The candidates will be given the one test attempt for scheduling
  • After completing the scheduling process, the candidates will receive a confirmation mail, where the candidates get the detailed information of NMAT by GMAC 2020 exam. 
  • Apart from this, the candidates will find the essential information such as time, date, centre of exam etc. 

NMAT 2020 Retake Registration

  • The students are eligible to appear for maximum three times during the testing period of a year. It includes maximum two retakes apart from the first attempt. 
  • The retake registration will be started when the exam date will be over and will be shown in the NMAT dashboard.
  • In order to pay the fee, you need to select and click the ‘Retake section’. 
  • If you have completed your retake registration fee process, then you can select your retake examination dates.
  • The candidates can apply for retake registration only before 15days of exam. 

NMAT 2020 Reservation Criteria

NMAT Exam does not offer reserved seats for designated categories along with the Reservation guidelines of the Government of India. The Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Physical Disabled (PD)/ Person with Disability (PwD) and Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy layer) do not get a reserved seat during the admission process.

How to choose the NMAT Test Center:

Candidates can select their test city and centers during the application process which lasts for about 75 days. Candidates can choose the time, the date and the venue as per their preference. Applicants will be asked to choose the location as per their availability. 

Candidates are allotted the centers through a first-come, first-serve basis. Those who apply earlier get the test centers and cities as per their preferences.
