We read every face primer on Myntra's primer page and on Nykaa's primer results on 23 October 2026 - 29 listings and 17. On price they are the same shelf: medians of Rs. 321 and Rs. 323, both starting at the same Rs. 133.
On reviews they are not. An Insight Cosmetics primer sells for exactly Rs. 323 against exactly Rs. 340, badged 5%, on both sites - and reports 147,216 ratings on Nykaa against 7,706 on Myntra. Same tube, same price, nineteen times the opinions.

On 23 October 2026 we read every face primer listing on Myntra's primer page and Nykaa's primer results — 29 and 17 listings respectively — logged out, from India, nothing purchased.
On price the two are the same shelf. The medians are Rs. 321 and Rs. 323. They start at the same Rs. 133. On the products that appear on both, the price is usually identical to the rupee.
On reviews they are not remotely the same shelf. The median review pool is 2,078 on Myntra and 20,303 on Nykaa — and the gap shows up most clearly on products that are otherwise identical.

Three of these four are the same price to the rupee, with the same stated MRP and the same badge. What moves is the review count — and it does not move consistently in one direction. Insight's 3-in-1 has 19 times more ratings on Nykaa; MARS's Glow O'Clock has more on Myntra. A review count is a fact about a platform's user base, not about the product in the tube.
Where the two shelves genuinely differ
- The ceiling. Myntra's primer listings stop at Rs. 559. Nykaa's run to Rs. 3,400, because it carries imported prestige brands this Myntra page does not.
- Rating coverage. Nykaa publishes a star average on all 17 listings; Myntra on 24 of 29, leaving five with nothing to go on.

It does not run one way, either - MARS's Glow O'Clock primer, also Rs. 367 on both, has more reviews on Myntra (10,089) than on Nykaa (7,975). The practical lesson: never compare two platforms' star counts as if they measured the same thing.
Which platform has more primer reviews overall?
Nykaa, by a wide margin, and it also rates everything. All 17 of 17 Nykaa primers in this read publish a star average and a review count; on Myntra it is 24 of 29, so five listings carry no rating at all. The depth gap is larger than the coverage gap: the median review pool is 20,303 on Nykaa against 2,078 on Myntra. The single deepest pool we saw was a Lakme primer on Nykaa with 160,755 ratings. That does not make Nykaa's reviews better - a deeper pool is a bigger sample, not a verified one, and neither platform's moderation is something we can see from outside. It does mean that on Nykaa you are more likely to find any given budget primer with thousands of opinions attached.
Do Myntra and Nykaa discount primer differently?
Barely, and both shallowly. The median badge is 20% on Myntra and 15% on Nykaa, with Myntra reaching 53% at its deepest against Nykaa's 40%. On the matched products the badges are often identical to the point - Insight's two primers show 5% on both platforms and MARS's Glow O'Clock shows 8% on both. The one real gap we found is small: MARS Zero Pore Perfection is Rs. 224 on Myntra and Rs. 234 on Nykaa, a Rs. 10 difference that shows up as a 10% badge against a 6% one. Primer is simply not a heavily discounted category on either shelf, which is worth knowing before waiting for a sale on one.
Which should I buy from, then?
