Six men's sherwanis priced in this read of Myntra's men-sherwani shelf - VASTRAMAY and KISAH indowestern sets from Rs. 3,399 to Rs. 5,675 - shown as they appear in their own listing photographs

Type 'sherwani' into Myntra and the shelf you land on returns 32 products. Thirty of them print the word 'Boys' in their own titles. Its prices run Rs. 351 to Rs. 1,084, median Rs. 908 - a sensible price for a boy's festive outfit and an impossible one for a man's sherwani.

The men's shelf is at a different path on the same site, and we read it the same morning. myntra.com/men-sherwani runs Rs. 2,899 to Rs. 5,951, median Rs. 5,046 - 5.56 times the first shelf, with the cheapest men's listing costing more than twice the dearest kids one. Below: all three shelves, why the kidswear one carries the deeper discounts, and where the sub-Rs.-2,000 answer actually lives.

📅 Update log:
1 October 2026 — first published. Three Myntra listing pages were read on the morning of 1 October 2026 - myntra.com/sherwani, myntra.com/men-sherwani and myntra.com/men-kurta-sets - logged out, in India, with nothing purchased, from Myntra's own listing data. Products were deduplicated by product id; requesting pages 2 and 3 of /sherwani returned the same ids as page 1, so that shelf is counted as 32 products. Every price, stated MRP, badge, star average and rating count quoted here was read on that date.

The sherwani shelf is a kidswear shelf

We read three Myntra listing pages on the morning of 1 October 2026, logged out, in India, with nothing purchased. The first was myntra.com/sherwani, which is where the word takes you. It returned 32 products. Thirty of those 32 print the word 'Boys' in their own title.

Its prices run from Rs. 351 to Rs. 1,084, with a median of Rs. 908. That is a perfectly sensible price for a boy's festive outfit and a completely impossible one for a man's sherwani, which is the problem: nothing on the shelf header announces that you are looking at kidswear, and the giveaway is one word inside each product title.

The men's shelf lives at a different path. myntra.com/men-sherwani returned 33 products across two pages, running Rs. 2,899 to Rs. 5,951 with a median of Rs. 5,046 - and not one of them says 'Boys'. The cheapest men's sherwani on that shelf costs more than two and a half times the dearest item on the first one.

myntra.com/men-kurta-sets34Rs. 702Rs. 2,078Rs. 1,1080 of 34
The one-line version: the median item on Myntra's /sherwani shelf is Rs. 908 and the median on its /men-sherwani shelf is Rs. 5,046 - 5.56 times as much. If you are shopping for yourself, start at men-sherwani or men-kurta-sets, not at the word.

Two listings that do not say 'Boys', and what we are not claiming

Thirty of 32 is not 32. Two listings on the /sherwani shelf - a BAESD brocade mandarin-collar sherwani at Rs. 879 and an ahhaaaa self-design sherwani set with waistcoat at Rs. 1,020 - print no age word in their titles at all. Both sit inside the same Rs. 351 to Rs. 1,084 band as the rest of the shelf, and both sellers appear repeatedly among the listings that do say 'Boys'.

We are not telling you they are kidswear. A title is a title, we did not open a size chart on either, and Myntra's categorisation is Myntra's own business. What we can say is what the shelf publishes: 30 explicit, 2 unstated, and a price band that does not overlap the men's shelf at any point.

The pagination is worth a note too, because it affects every count on this page. Requesting page 2 and page 3 of /sherwani returned the same product ids as page 1, so after deduplication the shelf is 32 products rather than 96. Every figure here is computed over unique product ids, not over rows returned.

The badges split the same way the prices do

The kidswear shelf runs a median discount badge of 77%, against 54% on the men's shelf - and the deepest badge on the kids shelf is 87%. That is the familiar shape: the shelf with the less recognised labels states the higher maximum retail prices, so it can display the bigger percentages.

The brand concentration explains most of it. One label, ahhaaaa, holds 19 of the 32 listings on /sherwani. The men's shelf is dominated by two: 16 KISAH and 9 VASTRAMAY of 32 on its first page. The men's listings are not cheap because their badges are smaller - they are more expensive and their badges are smaller, which is the opposite of what a discount sort implies.

None of this is an allegation about any seller's pricing. An MRP is a figure a listing displays, we have not verified that any garment here was ever sold at one, and stating a high MRP is lawful. The practical consequence is simply that comparing an 87% badge on one shelf with a 27% badge on another tells you about the two MRP fields, not about the two garments.

If you want a festive outfit under Rs. 2,000, neither shelf is the answer

The men's sherwani shelf starts at Rs. 2,899 and has a median of Rs. 5,046, so if your budget is Rs. 2,000 it has nothing for you at all. The third shelf we read does. myntra.com/men-kurta-sets returned 34 products from Rs. 702 to Rs. 2,078, median Rs. 1,108 - about a fifth of the men's sherwani median, and 24 of the 34 publish a rating.

A kurta set is not a sherwani and this page is not pretending otherwise. A sherwani is a long structured coat worn over a kurta and churidar; a kurta set is the kurta and the bottom. But if the question is 'what do I wear to Diwali for under Rs. 2,000', the kurta-set shelf is where Myntra's answer actually lives, and it is two clicks away from a shelf whose median is five times higher.

For the sherwani shelf itself, the cheapest men's listing in this read was a VASTRAMAY brocade slim-fit sherwani at Rs. 2,899 against a stated MRP of Rs. 9,999, with 405 ratings at 4.0 - the best-evidenced listing at the cheap end. The most-rated on the shelf was a VASTRAMAY mirror-work indo-western at Rs. 3,399 with 942 ratings at 4.2. We have worn neither; those are the numbers the listings publish.

Before you shop: check the path, not the search box. On Myntra the words 'sherwani', 'men-sherwani' and 'men-kurta-sets' are three different shelves with medians of Rs. 908, Rs. 5,046 and Rs. 1,108 - and the first one is almost entirely boys' clothing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a sherwani cost on Myntra in October 2026?
It depends entirely on which shelf you are looking at. myntra.com/men-sherwani ran from Rs. 2,899 to Rs. 5,951 with a median of Rs. 5,046 when we read it on 1 October 2026. The shelf at myntra.com/sherwani ran Rs. 351 to Rs. 1,084 with a median of Rs. 908 - but 30 of its 32 products print the word 'Boys' in their own titles, so those are children's prices. If you quote the second number as the price of a sherwani you are out by a factor of about five and a half. These figures describe the products those shelves returned on that date, not Myntra's full catalogue.
Why does Myntra's sherwani page show boys' clothes?
We can only report what it returned. On 1 October 2026, myntra.com/sherwani gave back 32 products of which 30 state 'Boys' in the product title, priced Rs. 351 to Rs. 1,084, with one label holding 19 of the 32. The men's equivalents sit at myntra.com/men-sherwani. How a retailer maps a search term to a listing page is its own decision and nothing here criticises it - but the practical effect is that the shelf most people land on is not the one they want, and the only visible clue is one word inside each title.
What is the cheapest men's sherwani on Myntra?
In this read, a VASTRAMAY brocade slim-fit sherwani at Rs. 2,899 against a stated MRP of Rs. 9,999 - a 71% badge - with 405 ratings at 4.0. It was both the cheapest listing on the men's shelf and the deepest badge on it. The most-reviewed was a VASTRAMAY mirror-work indo-western at Rs. 3,399 with 942 ratings at 4.2. We did not buy, wear or inspect either; fabric, fit and finish claims on those listings are the sellers' own printed text.
Is there a festive outfit on Myntra under Rs. 2,000?
Not on the men's sherwani shelf, which starts at Rs. 2,899. On myntra.com/men-kurta-sets there were 34 products from Rs. 702 to Rs. 2,078 with a median of Rs. 1,108, 24 of them publishing a rating. A kurta set is a kurta and bottom rather than the long structured coat a sherwani adds, so it is a different garment - but it is where the sub-Rs.-2,000 answer lives on Myntra, and its median is about a fifth of the sherwani shelf's.
Why are the discounts bigger on the boys' sherwani shelf?
Because the stated MRPs are higher relative to the prices. The /sherwani shelf ran a median 77% badge with a deepest of 87%; the men's shelf ran a median 54% with a deepest of 71%. The men's listings cost more and discount less. An MRP is a figure the listing displays and we have not verified that any garment was ever sold at one, so a badge is arithmetic over two numbers the seller chose rather than a measured saving. No wrongdoing by Myntra or by any brand named here is alleged or implied; comparing badges across two shelves tells you about two MRP fields, not about two garments.

Zoutons may earn a commission when you buy through links on this page. Every selling price, stated MRP, discount badge, star average and rating count here was read on 1 October 2026 from myntra.com's own listing data for three paths - myntra.com/sherwani, myntra.com/men-sherwani and myntra.com/men-kurta-sets - logged out, in India, with nothing purchased. Every count, median, range and percentage on this page describes the products those shelves returned on that date rather than Myntra's full catalogue, and a garment it sells that did not appear in those listings does not appear here; listing pages are ranked, partly personalised and change continuously, so a different reader will not see the same set. Products were deduplicated by product id and every figure is computed over unique ids; requesting pages 2 and 3 of /sherwani returned the same ids as page 1, which is why that shelf is counted as 32 products rather than as the number of rows returned. The description of the /sherwani shelf as kidswear rests on the word 'Boys' appearing in 30 of its 32 product titles as published; two listings print no age word at all and are expressly NOT asserted to be children's clothing, we opened no size chart on any listing, and how Myntra maps a search term to a listing page is its own categorisation decision which nothing here criticises or alleges to be improper. Nothing on this page is an allegation of mispricing, misleading advertising, incorrect categorisation or any breach of the Legal Metrology Act, the Consumer Protection Act or any other law, rule or platform policy by Myntra Designs Private Limited or by ahhaaaa, KISAH, VASTRAMAY, BAESD, Sangria, KALINI, Jompers, ADHIRAJAN, SOURAGYA, House of Pataudi, Aj DEZInES, NEW GEN or any other brand or seller named or unnamed, and no wrongdoing is alleged or implied. An MRP is the figure the listing displays and we have not verified that any garment here was ever sold at it, so every percentage on this page is arithmetic over two numbers the seller chose rather than a measured saving; comparing a badge on one shelf with a badge on another describes two MRP fields rather than two garments. Rating counts and star averages are reproduced exactly as published, including very small counts, and a listing with no published rating is treated as unrated rather than as poor. Fabrics, fits, piece counts in a set, 'brocade', 'jacquard', 'indowestern', 'self-design', sizing and every other specification are the listings' own printed text, reproduced as printed and not verified, measured or tested by us - we did not buy, unbox, wear, wash or return any garment on this page, and nothing here is a statement about fit, fabric quality, colourfastness, stitching or suitability for any occasion. A sherwani and a kurta set are different garments and are described as such; the comparison between those shelves is offered on price and nothing else. Product photographs are the listings' own images as published on myntra.com and may be styled or retouched. Prices change without notice and can differ at checkout after coupons, bank offers or delivery charges; the price shown at your checkout prevails over anything here.
