Maruti Suzuki at Auto Expo 2020 showcased many new products out of which one is the new S-Cross. What's new is the introduction of the petrol engine which has been long anticipated by the people. Maruti has not done any cosmetic changes to the new S-Cross. Maruti S-Cross was earlier powered by a 1.3-liter fiat-sourced multijet diesel unit which has been phased out by the company.
Powering the petrol variant of S-Cross is the same K15B 1.5-liter unit that is shared by recently showcased Vitara Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, and Ciaz. The new petrol engine is capable of producing 105 Bhp and 138 Nm of peak torque. This engine comes paired with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter unit. Maruti will offer SHVS mild-hybrid technology in the petrol automatic variant of S-Cross that means the manual variant will miss out on the tech.
Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is coming near its production end next year, by the time there will be a new replacement based on Futuro-E. Futuro-E is a better contender for the compact SUV segment with bold lines and off-shoulder creases unlike what S-Cross currently is. New S-Cross petrol is scheduled to arrive at the nearest NEXA dealerships by March 2020.
