How quick is the 2020 Xcent from 0-100?

Mind-boggling acceleration is witnessed in the new Hyundai Xcent. The new design is aerodynamically active fitted with a cascade style front grille. Agile acceleration during steep corners helps in better handling of the car. The car sprints a 0-100 kmph in about 13 seconds for the petrol version and 3 seconds slower for the diesel version. The new line-up is much lighter that means greater power to weight ratio. The precise gearshift is a breeze with the short ratio 5-speed gearbox.

2020 hyundai xcent acceleration 0-100

The car is designed to tackle the hustle and bustle of the city. It delivers maximum torque output at around 4000 rpm which means minimum gearshifts for impressive acceleration. With a good balance of power to weight, Hyundai Xcent manages to overcome its performance handicap.

Even with the most power output, the Ford Aspire is 0.5 seconds slower than the Hyundai Xcent. Maruti Suzuki Dzire takes the hot seat with the quickest acceleration, all thanks to its strict diet. The last spot is taken by Ford Aspire which should have better speed with the most powerful engine but is let down due to its kerb weight.

How well-established are the driving dynamics?

Hyundai Xcent manages to offer great handling and ride comfort. The electrically assisted steering column helps in better control of the car at high speeds. Good ride comfort is ensured by a comfy seating arrangement and good steering response. The lighter chassis offered in the Xcent makes agile acceleration possible. Also, improved handling capability is presented by re-tuned McPherson strut-type suspension and stylish body design.

The rear Axle Beam type suspension system ensures minimal roll for better control during steep corners. Apart from the mechanical advancements, the steering wheel has a good grip with leather wrapping. Adequate ground clearance helps to tackle tough road conditions with ease.

Hyundai Xcent offers great manoeuvring capabilities during long ride stints ultimately improving ride quality. The spacious cabin is an add-on for better ride quality with ample supports and extensions. Overall, you can expect a best-in-segment handling capability.

How well-modulated are the brakes?

With high performance ventilated disc brakes in the front accompanied by drum brakes in the rear, the car gets ample braking power to stop the vehicle effectively even at high speeds. The braking system also gets an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) as well as Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) for effective braking at all speeds and conditions.

The whole new design is the primary reason behind the optimized overall performance capabilities. Overall, you can expect a pretty decent braking capability from the all-new Hyundai Xcent Petrol. The competition follows suit and Maruti Suzuki Dzire has the second most chilled out braking setup due to lower kerb weight. Honda and Ford tend to take the heavy route forward.

Is the Hyundai Xcent's powertrain on a healthy diet?

One of the main reasons for huge commercial demand is this car’s unmatched fuel efficiency. When tested by ARAI, the new Hyundai Xcent slotted in at 19.1 km which is pretty impressive keeping in mind it's high-performance engine and kerb weight. High power to weight ratio enables the car to gain more soothing mileage figures.

The leader of the segment is Ford Aspire with an above 20 kmpl mileage and a maximum travel range of over 850 km.

How has Hyundai carved a sedan out of the Grand i10's silhouette?

Hyundai Xcent has a bold look with curvy body structure but lacks in sportive abilities. The shape and size of the car are optimum with standards for the subcompact range. Cascade styled front grille adds on to an agile look.

Like all other sub-four meters offerings, the Xcent is also based off its hatchback brother, Grand i10. The car could have been more aggressive for maximum design utilization but Hyundai went for a more subtle approach which has rather worked out. The automaker has sure learnt from its competition.

Hyundai Xcent vs Maruti Suzuki Dzire

A direct face-off to the Xcent is the Dzire by Suzuki. Once a leader of the segment, the Dzire is equipped with a 1.2 Liter Inline-4 SOHC Engine which churns out about 89 bhp, 6 hp more than the Xcent. Apart from performance, Dzire has also got a spacious cabin with decent material selection and a simple design statement.

hyundai xcent vs maruti suzuki dzire

The exterior of the car looks very much similar to the Swift, the hatchback version of the car with not s stylish curves. The car is designed well with great stability and handling. The positive points of the car are superior performance and reliable built quality. The only aspect where the car lags are its design. The car looks sluggish when compared with the sportive type design style of Hyundai Xcent.

Hyundai Xcent vs Honda Amaze

Another tough competitor of the Hyundai Xcent is the Honda Amaze. Juggling the market since its launch, the Amaze is the definition of style and reliability. With Honda’s superior performance by the 1.2 Liter K-series Engine, it still misses out the performance characteristics of Xcent due to more curb weight.

hyundai xcent vs honda amaze

The interior is genteel with very comfortable seats and the latest infotainment system. The ride quality of the car is improved with agile handling and fast gearshifts. The exterior of the car is also sportive with dynamic lines throughout the body, giving a more active aerodynamic presence. Comparing with Xcent, the car lags in performance aspect with the Xcent producing 83 bhp @6000 rpm compared with Amaze’s 82 hp.

So, will the Xcent be able to steal the throne from Maruti Suzuki Dzire?

Hyundai has managed in producing an ideal subcompact sedan packed with exciting features and superior performance. With the latest upgrades, the car is now more stylish, powerful, and better handling abilities. The Cascade styled front grille topped with R15 Diamond Cut Alloy Wheels makes the car disrupt the segment with its superiority in every aspect.

It also has enough boot space for long ride stints and is featured with advanced safety features. The interior of the car is genteel with maximum comfort. The car is also suitable for long commutes which are rarely seen in this segment of subcompact sedan. Fuel Efficiency is one of the greatest pros of the car with unmatched efficiency at all speeds. Overall, a ride full of joy can be expected from the all-new Hyundai Xcent petrol.
