Hostinger runs three schemes that pay you for sending it customers — referral, affiliate and an agency partner programme. We read all three pages on 25 October 2026, logged out, from India, including the referral page's full published FAQ.
The headline says "up to Rs. 40,000 for your first referral". The FAQ says 20% of the purchase price. Both are true at once only if your friend spends Rs. 2,00,000 in a single eligible purchase. On the 48-month hosting plan, 20% is Rs. 662.
📅 Update log:
25 Oct 2026: first published. Every quotation on this page was transcribed from Hostinger's own pages — hostinger.in/referral-program and its published FAQ, hostinger.in/affiliates, and hostinger.in/web-hosting — read by plain fetch on 25 October 2026, logged out, from India. The commission figures in the arithmetic table are our calculations applying Hostinger's stated 20% rate to Hostinger's own published plan prices; they are not quoted from the company. No referral was made, no referral link was created and no commission was received or tested.
Hostinger runs three separate schemes that pay you for sending it customers: a referral programme, an affiliate programme and a partner programme for agencies. We read all three pages on 25 October 2026, logged out, from India, including the referral page's full published FAQ.
The referral page leads with "Earn up to Rs. 40,000 for your first referral". Its own FAQ sets the rate at 20% of the purchase price. Those two statements only meet if your friend spends Rs. 2,00,000 in one go — about sixty times Hostinger's own 48-month web hosting plan.
What 20% actually pays on a real Hostinger plan
The rate is not in dispute and Hostinger does not hide it: the FAQ states "You'll receive 20% of the purchase price of each eligible sale". What the headline figure does is attach that rate to a purchase size almost no individual makes. The arithmetic below is ours, applied to Hostinger's own published prices.
| What your friend buys | Purchase price | Your 20% commission | Note |
|---|
| Web hosting, 48-month term | Rs. 3,312 | Rs. 662 | The flagship long-term plan |
| Web hosting, renewal year at Rs. 289/mo | Rs. 3,468 | Rs. 694 | Renewals count only on the partner programme, not this one |
| A Rs. 10,000 eligible purchase | Rs. 10,000 | Rs. 2,000 | Roughly three flagship plans in one order |
| A Rs. 50,000 eligible purchase | Rs. 50,000 | Rs. 10,000 | Enterprise-scale VPS or multi-year agency spend |
| What the headline requires | Rs. 2,00,000 | Rs. 40,000 | About 60x the 48-month web hosting plan |
To be fair to the wording: "up to" is doing its job honestly. Referrals are explicitly unlimited — the FAQ says so — and 20% of a large enough VPS or agency purchase genuinely can reach the headline. The point is not that the number is false. It is that a reader referring a friend to a Rs. 3,312 hosting plan should expect about Rs. 662, and the page's headline sets a very different expectation. Hostinger's own creative on the same page shows a sample dashboard tile reading "$740 total commission paid out" — an illustration, not a promise.
The seven rules, quoted from Hostinger's own FAQ
The referral page publishes a full FAQ. To Hostinger's credit, almost everything a prospective referrer needs is in it — including the parts that work against the programme's own pitch.
| Rule | What the FAQ says | What it means for you |
|---|
| The commission rate | "You'll receive 20% of the purchase price of each eligible sale" | A straight percentage. There is no stated tier ladder on this programme. |
| Why you wait 45 days | "we offer a 30-day money-back guarantee ... Then, an additional 15 days are required for accounting and administrative purposes" | Openly explained, which is more than most referral schemes manage. |
| PayPal payout floor | "PayPal sends money daily to users who have collected Rs. 4,500" | At the flagship plan's Rs. 662 a referral, that is seven successful referrals before any money moves. |
| Wire transfer floor | "To get a wire transfer, you will need to collect Rs. 18,000", then wait for "the last Thursday of the month" | Miss that Thursday and "your reward will be processed next month". |
| Bank charges come out of your share | "the wire transfer may charge extra fees and exchange rate differences. You may receive less reward amount because of this" | Hostinger states it "is not responsible" for these. It recommends PayPal instead. |
| What does not earn anything | "Domain-related services aren't eligible" | Hosting, VPS, OpenClaw, email, email marketing and AI Builder plans do count. |
| How many you can refer | "doesn't have any limits on the number of people you can refer" | Unlimited, and the page is right that this makes the earnings ceiling theoretical rather than fixed. |
The payout floor matters more than the rate if you are referring casually. PayPal releases money once you have collected Rs. 4,500. On Hostinger's flagship 48-month web hosting plan at Rs. 3,312, a 20% commission is Rs. 662 — so you need seven successful referrals that each survive the 45-day hold before a rupee reaches you. Referring one friend and expecting a payout is not how this programme works.
Referring a friend pays half what the affiliate programme pays
This is the detail most likely to cost someone money, and it is only visible if you read two pages instead of one. The referral page pays 20%. Hostinger's separate affiliate page states that commission "starts at 40% and grows depending on sales volume" — for the same act of sending somebody to Hostinger.
The affiliate programme is also free to join; its page says so plainly. What it adds is a verification step: "Sign up in less than a minute — it's completely free. Get verified and gain access to your affiliate dashboard." Neither page states the affiliate payout thresholds, the cookie window, or whether affiliate commissions survive a refund, so we cannot tell you what the 40% is worth in practice — only that the headline rate is double.
| Scheme | Stated commission | Covers renewals? | Stated payout floor | Who it is for |
|---|
| Referral programme | 20% of the purchase price | First purchase only | Rs. 4,500 (PayPal) / Rs. 18,000 (wire) | Anyone with a link |
| Affiliate programme | Starts at 40%, "grows depending on sales volume" | Not stated on the page | Not stated on the page | Free sign-up, "get verified" |
| Partner programme (agencies) | Not stated as a percentage | Recurring — "every time your referred clients renew" | Not stated on the page | Agencies and freelancers, by application |
Recurring commission is the real prize, and it is on the partner programme. The referral page's own partner section promises "ongoing commissions every time your referred clients renew their hosting plans". Since Hostinger's renewal prices are substantially higher than its introductory ones — web hosting renews at Rs. 289 a month against a Rs. 69 intro rate — a percentage of renewals is worth considerably more over time than a one-off cut of a discounted first term. That programme is by application and aimed at agencies.
The payout mechanics, transcribed from the FAQ on 25 October 2026
On the 45-day wait:
"At Hostinger, we offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on our hosting services. That means new users have up to 30 days after the purchase to request a full refund. Then, an additional 15 days are required for accounting and administrative purposes."
On how you get paid:
"You can choose either PayPal or a wire transfer on your referral dashboard. PayPal sends money daily to users who have collected Rs. 4,500. However, due to automation rules, you might receive your money the next day. To get a wire transfer, you will need to collect Rs. 18,000. Then, you will be required to wait until the last Thursday of the month, as this is when all wire transfers are paid. If you become eligible for a reward after that day, your reward will be processed next month."
"Depending on your bank's policies, the wire transfer may charge extra fees and exchange rate differences. You may receive less reward amount because of this. To avoid these charges, consider using PayPal."
On what counts:
"You can earn commission for referring any hosting, VPS, 1-Click OpenClaw, email, email marketing or Hostinger AI Builder plan. Domain-related services aren't eligible."
On cost of entry:
"Participation in our program is free. We will not ask for any payments from you to make referrals. However, since participation requires a valid PayPal account, you may be charged for using it ... Note that Hostinger is not responsible for any payments related to PayPal or your bank."
One presentational note: the page's hero states the ceiling as Rs. 40,000 while its closing section states the same ceiling as "up to 450 USD". Those are broadly the same amount, but the page does not say which currency the cap is actually set in.
What your friend gets out of it
The referral page states the other side of the deal as 20% off for the person you refer. That is the figure on the page's own link badge and in its headline: "They'll enjoy 20% off too!"
Worth checking before you promise anyone anything: Hostinger advertises large seasonal discounts to the open market — its Black Friday sale page was running up to 82% off on the day we read this. The referral page does not say whether the 20% applies on top of a sale price or instead of it, so your friend may or may not be better off through your link than through the public offer. We have not tested a referral link and cannot resolve it.
Before you start sharing a link
- Work out the realistic number, not the headline. 20% of the plan you would actually recommend — for the 48-month web hosting term at Rs. 3,312, that is Rs. 662.
- Count to the payout floor. Rs. 4,500 on PayPal is roughly seven flagship-plan referrals; Rs. 18,000 by wire is roughly twenty-seven, and only pays out on the last Thursday of a month.
- Choose PayPal over wire transfer unless you have a reason not to — Hostinger's own FAQ says bank fees and exchange differences can reduce what reaches you, and recommends PayPal to avoid them.
- Do not refer domains. They are excluded by name, so a friend who buys only a domain through your link earns you nothing.
- Look at the affiliate programme first if you publish anything. Its stated rate starts at 40%, double the referral rate, and joining is free.
- Expect a 45-day wait on every commission, and expect it to disappear if your friend takes the 30-day refund.
The honest summary
Hostinger's referral programme is unusually well documented and its headline is unusually optimistic. The FAQ publishes the rate, the hold period and the reason for it, both payout thresholds, the bank-fee warning and the domain exclusion — more disclosure than most schemes offer. Then the top of the page says "up to Rs. 40,000 for your first referral", which at 20% needs a Rs. 2,00,000 purchase.
Refer a friend to the Rs. 3,312 hosting plan and the honest number is about Rs. 662, paid 45 days later, and only once you have accumulated Rs. 4,500 in total. If you have an audience rather than a friend, the affiliate programme's stated 40% is the page you want instead.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does the Hostinger referral program actually pay?
20% of the purchase price of each eligible sale — that is Hostinger's own figure, stated in the referral page's FAQ on 25 October 2026. What that is worth depends entirely on what the person you refer buys. Applied to Hostinger's own published prices, a referral to its 48-month web hosting term at Rs. 3,312 earns you about Rs. 662. The page's headline, by contrast, reads "Earn up to Rs. 40,000 for your first referral" — a figure that requires an eligible purchase of Rs. 2,00,000, roughly sixty times that flagship plan. The "up to" is not false: referrals are explicitly unlimited and 20% of a large VPS or agency purchase can genuinely reach it. But a reader referring one friend to a shared hosting plan should plan around Rs. 662, not Rs. 40,000. The arithmetic here is ours, applied to Hostinger's published prices; we have made no referral and received no commission.
Why does Hostinger take 45 days to pay a referral commission?
Hostinger explains this one openly in its FAQ, and the explanation holds up: "we offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on our hosting services. That means new users have up to 30 days after the purchase to request a full refund. Then, an additional 15 days are required for accounting and administrative purposes." So 30 days of refund exposure plus 15 days of processing. The practical implication the page does not spell out is the obvious one: if the person you referred takes the 30-day refund, there is no eligible sale and no commission. The 45-day clock runs on every referral, so the earliest any money can move is a month and a half after your friend buys — and then only if you have also cleared the payout threshold, which is a separate condition.
What is the minimum payout on the Hostinger referral program?
There are two thresholds and they are very far apart. PayPal: Rs. 4,500 collected, after which the FAQ says money is sent daily, though "due to automation rules, you might receive your money the next day". Wire transfer: Rs. 18,000 collected, and then you must wait for the last Thursday of the month, because that is when all wire transfers are paid — "if you become eligible for a reward after that day, your reward will be processed next month". Hostinger also warns that a wire transfer "may charge extra fees and exchange rate differences" so "you may receive less reward amount", states it "is not responsible" for those charges, and recommends PayPal to avoid them. Put against the Rs. 662 a flagship-plan referral earns, the PayPal floor is about seven successful referrals and the wire floor about twenty-seven. You can also elect to keep earnings as Hostinger balance and spend them on your own renewals instead.
Is the Hostinger affiliate program better than the referral program?
On the published headline rates, yes — it is double. The referral page states 20% of the purchase price. Hostinger's separate affiliate page states that commission "starts at 40% and grows depending on sales volume", and that joining is "completely free" with a verification step to get dashboard access. Both reward the same act of sending somebody to Hostinger. The caveat is disclosure: the affiliate page publishes no payout thresholds, no cookie window, no statement on whether commissions survive a refund and no tier table for how the 40% "grows" — where the referral FAQ publishes all of its equivalents. So we can tell you the affiliate headline rate is twice as high, but not what it nets in practice. There is also a third scheme, the partner programme, aimed at agencies and freelancers by application, which is the only one promising recurring commission "every time your referred clients renew" — potentially the most valuable of the three given Hostinger renews well above its introductory prices.
What does not earn a commission on the Hostinger referral program?
Domains. The FAQ is explicit: "You can earn commission for referring any hosting, VPS, 1-Click OpenClaw, email, email marketing or Hostinger AI Builder plan. Domain-related services aren't eligible." That is a meaningful exclusion, because a domain is often the first thing a friend buys — and Hostinger advertises domains at introductory prices as low as Rs. 1. A referral that results only in a domain registration pays you nothing. Beyond the product exclusion, a sale stops being eligible if the buyer takes the 30-day money-back refund, which is the reason for the 45-day hold. The FAQ states no cap on the number of people you can refer. It does not state whether a referral counts if the person already had a Hostinger account, nor whether self-referral is permitted, and we have made no referral and so have tested none of this — we are reporting the published terms only.
Prices & codes last verified: October 25, 2026
Every rule, rate, threshold and quotation on this page was transcribed from Hostinger's own pages — the referral programme page and its published FAQ, the affiliate programme page, and the India web hosting pricing page — read by plain fetch on 25 October 2026, logged out, from India. The commission amounts in the arithmetic table are our own calculations, applying Hostinger's stated 20% rate to Hostinger's own published plan prices; they are not quoted from Hostinger, are not an estimate of what any individual will earn, and are not a projection of earnings. No referral was made, no referral link was generated, no account was created and no commission was received, so nothing about the programme's actual behaviour — tracking, attribution, approval or payment — has been tested, and we cannot say whether a referred buyer receives the stated 20% discount on top of a promotional price or instead of it. Earnings from any referral or affiliate scheme depend entirely on what referred customers buy and whether those purchases survive the refund window; most participants in such programmes earn little or nothing, and nothing here should be read as an income claim or as financial advice. Programme rates, thresholds, eligible products and payout terms are set by Hostinger and by third parties such as PayPal, can be changed or withdrawn without notice, and were correct only at the moment of reading. Nothing on this page alleges that any term is improper, unlawful or deliberately concealed — the terms are freely published by Hostinger and we report them as fact, not as allegation. Confirm all current terms on Hostinger's own site before joining any of its programmes. Zoutons may earn a commission on purchases made through links on this page, which never affects what we report.
