What is the power source of Honda Activa 125?

Power in the Honda Activa 125 BS6 is sourced from a latest 125 cc CVT engine that is now fuel-injected under BS6 emission norms. Honda is the first company to bring out BS6 compliant Activa in the Indian market. The other automakers are likely to follow the same on a later stage.

The new Active 125 BS6 engine is claimed to offer 13 percent more fuel-efficient than the old model. With a tweaked bore and stroke, the power output has slightly decreased from 8.52 bhp to 8.18 bhp at 6,500 rpm and the peak torque drops from 10.54 Nm to 10.3 Nm at 5,000 rpm. The Activa is mainly designed for comfort and efficiency. The company never thought of putting performance into its structure.

Compared to the rivals, the Active 125 is slightly underpowered than the TVS Ntorq 125 and Honda Grazia. Well, this would be just fine for people looking for an updated scooter. Moreover, the TVS Ntorq and Honda Grazia still offer BS4 compliant engines.

How quick is the Honda Activas 125 for your daily commuting needs?

The Activa 125 BS6 is a delight to ride across the city with the new refined engine. The engine seems to be less thirty like its competitors. The Fuel injection system is meant to perform even better than its predecessor. The ride feels smooth till you keep twisting the throttle for 65 kmph. The engine, however, feels a bit strained once you exceed 70 kmph mark. The Scooter is claimed to offer a top speed of 85 kmph, which is pretty decent for something under the 125 segment.

How sure-footed are the brakes?

The braking duties are carried out by a disc in the front and drum in the rear wheel. The brakes work with combined braking technology. With a 10-inch rear wheel, the drum brakes work smoothly in city traffic conditions.

Activa 125 comes with  Telescopic front forks in front and spring-loaded hydraulic type suspension at the back, which ensures a smooth ride even on rough roads and makes riding an enjoyable experience. The 130 mm disc brakes up front are responsive enough to quickly stop the scooter even from fairly high speed whereas, Access doesn't offer disc brakes.

How comfortably are you seated while traversing the roads?

With the telescopic suspension and the front and 3-way adjustable hydraulic suspension in the rear, the full-metal scooter is designed to absorb little bumps from potholes. The seats are wide and properly stitched so that you won’t feel any kind of unrest while riding.

The raised handlebars of Activa 125 ensure a comfortable riding posture whereas Access has a relatively low set and narrower handlebars, which makes seating a bit cramped and uncomfortable for the tall riders. Activa 125 also offers a spacious floorboard that is good for carrying daily groceries and ensuring ample legroom.

How subtle looking is the 2020 Honda Activa 125 BS6?

The all-new Activa 125 comes finished with glossy paint and offers best-in-class design. Just like last Activa models, the Activa 125 shares similar attire like its siblings. The Premium chrome on the body gives it a clean and crisp outlook.

What are the various safety and class-leading features?

Honda has taken care of the safety by not making the body with plastic. The full metal body ensures better trust among the buyers. Also, the combined braking system helps you to ride with confidence. The most important update is the side stand engine cut-off features. This feature cuts off engine power in case the side stand is left engaged by mistake. The scooter will get started in the only condition when you remove the side stand. Both front and rear suspension offer optimum comfort while riding.

How does the competition stack up against Honda Activa 125?

Honda Activa 125 VS TVS Ntorq 125

The TVS NTORQ 125 is more like a performance scooter with attractive design ergonomics. The NTORQ 125 is loaded with the latest features like mobile connectivity, mobile charging, fully digital instrument cluster, and engaging dynamics. While the Activa 125 is a practical scooter powered by a smooth and reliable engine. With an all-metal body, Activa 125 has a better build quality than the TVS Ntorq 125. The price hike is due to the BS6 transition otherwise, the scooter is value for money.

Honda Activa 125 VS Suzuki Access 125

Suzuki Access body is built on lightweight fiber while Activa 125 is full-metal, making the latter heavier. Activa is safer compared to the Access in uneven road conditions.  Activa 125 takes less time for acceleration while Access needs twist for throttle. The HET technology of Honda scooters is reliable and quite efficient. Suzuki Access does not offer linear handling while the Activa 125 offers good handling.

Does the Honda Activa 125 stand a chance against the segment leaders?

The Honda Activa 125 BS6 fulfills all the needs of consumers looking for a decent scooter with a well-designed body and efficient engine. You won’t find a tonne of features on the Activa 125 compared to rivals like Ntorq 125 and Access 125, but the company offers you peace of mind with warranty offering. The new Honda Activa 125 comes with a special 6-year warranty package (3 years standard + 3 years optional extended warranty). The prices for the Activa 125 BS6 have been significantly hiked over the past model but this was expected for sure.
