Even though the commuter bike segment is not about getting the best performance from a motorcycle, we are pretty sure that everyone wants a bike that offers the best performance in its segment. The Hero Splendor iSmart sits in perhaps one of the most competitive segments in the Indian bike market. It is the first indigenously developed bike by Hero after the split from the Japanese giant Honda. Hence, it is an all-new bike even though it uses the original Splendor’s name form.
There is no doubt about the fact that the Hero Splendor Plus and TVS Radeon are each other’s arch-nemesis. Both the bikes in question are quite similarly priced. Even in terms of specs, it’s almost as if both the bikes share the same power plant. But the thing to note here is that the Splendor Plus runs on a 97cc motor while the Radeon gets a bigger 109 cc motor.
Although, even with the smaller capacity engine, the Splendor Plus manages slightly more power than the Radeon. In terms of pricing, the TVS Radeon costs slightly cheaper than the Hero Splendor Plus which highlights its value of money character.
Model | Hero Splendor | TVS Radeon |
Pricing(Ex-Showroom Delhi) | Rs. 52,900 | Rs.52,360 |

0-60 KMPH | 7.20s | 7.88s |

Mileage | 80 | 69.3 |
In terms of engine performance, both the bikes are neck and neck. While the Splendor Plus offers slightly more power, the TVS Radeon gets more torque on tap. However, the difference is so minimal that an average rider will never be able to notice any difference. The lighter weight of the Splendor Plus helps it move ahead of the Radeon in 0-60 Kmph sprint. Where the Radeon excels is in terms of ride comfort and gearshift quality.
When it comes to the most important aspect for many buyers, the fuel efficiency, the Splendor plus wins the battle hands down. It goes 10 km farther for a litre of fuel than the Radeon which is honestly, quite a lot.
In terms of features, the Radeon takes away the cake but only by a slight margin. It offers a carry hook as well as DLRs which the Splendor Plus misses out on. However, as the Splendor Plus offers 5-step Adjustable shock absorbers it feels more dynamic in terms of ride quality. It enables you to change the setting according to the road you mostly ride the bike on.
Model | Hero Splendor | TVS Radeon |
Highlighted Features | Kick and Self Start | Kick and Self Start |
Integrated Braking System | Synchronized Braking System
Air Cooled Engine | Air Cooled Engine
Body Graphics | DRLs | |
5-step Adjustable Hydraulic Shock Absorbers | Carry hook |
Choosing from one of these two is a tough task as they offer almost the same level of equipment. It is more about the way they look than what they offer as there is not much to differentiate on the features front. However, If you are someone who wants better looks then the Splendor Plus is the bike for you as it offers more colour options as well as body graphics. But the Radeon still has a slight bit of advantage in terms of features even though you can get them through any after-market accessory shop.
There is no doubt about the fact the Splendor Plus might top the two-wheeler sales chart even next month or even next year. It is simply the best selling motorcycle not just in India but in the whole wide world. With the backing of the automotive giant Hero MotoCrop, the Splendor Plus gives proper peace of mind to many customers.
However, if you are bored of seeing so many Splendors on the road that it is hard to count, then the TVS Radeon offers the same package at a slightly lesser price. It might not be the best selling bike in its segment but what it offers is more features as well as more bang for your buck. Where it loses out on however is what matters the most to the Indian customers, the mileage. Hence, the Splendor Plus remains the ultimate commuter machine for everyday riders which ticks all the right boxes for them.
