Sixty-five epilator listings read on 6 October. The discount badge on this shelf measures the selling price, because a third of the shelf shares one MRP.
A discount badge is only as meaningful as the number it is measured against. On Flipkart's epilator shelf, 20 of the 65 listings we read on 6 October print exactly Rs. 999 as their stated MRP - under 18 different brand names - and sell beneath it at Rs. 123 to Rs. 646. One shared ceiling, a 5.25-fold price spread, and badges that run from 88% down to 35% purely as a consequence. Three more listings share a model string and a photograph at three different prices. We bought nothing and opened nothing; neither does the shelf.
Every price below was pulled from Flipkart on October 6, 2026 and checked against the MRP on the listing. Stack them with the live codes on our Flipkart coupons page, which the deals desk re-verifies daily.

Four rules, all of them drawn from the 65 listings this search returned. First: ignore the badge and read the stated MRP. Twenty listings here print Rs. 999, seven print Rs. 1,499, six print Rs. 499 and four print Rs. 1,899 - the ceilings cluster on round numbers far more tightly than the products do, and a badge computed over a shared ceiling tells you the price and nothing else. Second: read the rating count, not the star. Twenty-five of the 65 listings publish no rating at all, only five carry 1,000 or more, and two listings here show the same 4.1 stars over 1,461 ratings and over 256. Third: expect the badge to run opposite to the brand. The recognisable names on this shelf are badged 0% to 33%; the names that appear nowhere else are badged 60% to 88%, and the one listing that is a mechanical tweezer-head epilator is badged 9%. Fourth: check what you are actually buying before you compare prices at all. This single search returns a Rs. 169 abrasive crystal pad with no motor, a Rs. 198 crystal stone, a dozen lipstick-shaped face shavers, a tweezer-head epilator at Rs. 1,997 and an IPL device at Rs. 3,495 - a 28-fold range across four different technologies that the shelf makes no attempt to separate. We bought, opened, charged and used nothing, and nothing here is medical or cosmetic advice.

Each selling price, stated MRP, discount badge, star average and rating count on this page was parsed on 6 October 2026 from the window.__INITIAL_STATE__ PRODUCT_SUMMARY tiles that flipkart.com serves with its own search-results pages for 'epilator', across two pages, logged out, in India, with nothing purchased. Sixty-five listings were returned and 24 are seated.
The twenty listings sharing a Rs. 999 stated MRP, the 25 publishing no rating, the median price of Rs. 348, the median badge of 68%, the 40 listings under Rs. 400 and the five with 1,000 ratings or more are counted across the full read rather than the seated cards, so they cannot be an artefact of which cards we chose.
Three listings here carry the string 'FS1100' and four share one product-card artwork. This page reports that they share a model string and an image and reports their prices; it does not claim they contain the same device, because the shelf does not say and we did not buy or open any of them.
Twenty-five of the 65 listings publish no star average and no rating count at all, and every seated card in that state says so rather than omitting it. Where a rating is shown the sample size is printed beside it: this shelf carries pools from four ratings to 3,031, and a 4.1 on 256 is not the evidence a 4.1 on 1,461 is.
Every badge here is the listing's own percentage over its own stated MRP. We have not verified that any item was ever sold at its stated MRP, and on a shelf where twenty sellers share one Rs. 999 ceiling the badge varies only with the selling price. Assigning a list price is an ordinary and lawful commercial decision.
'Painless', 'flawless', 'permanent', 'professional', every stated tweezer count, head count, warranty term and model number on this page is the listing's own printed word, reproduced as printed. Nothing was bought, opened, charged or used on skin, and nothing here is medical, dermatological or cosmetic advice.
In this read of 65 listings on 6 October 2026, the shelf ran from Rs. 123 to Rs. 3,495 with a median of Rs. 348. Forty of the 65 listings sold under Rs. 400. Lipstick-shaped facial hair removers clustered between Rs. 123 and Rs. 400, branded facial trimmers between Rs. 899 and Rs. 999, mechanical tweezer-head epilators between Rs. 1,539 and Rs. 1,997, and a single IPL device sat at Rs. 3,495. Prices change continuously, so check the live page.
We can only report that they do. Twenty of the 65 listings in this read print exactly Rs. 999 as their stated MRP, under 18 different brand names, and sell under it at Rs. 123 to Rs. 646. Because a discount badge is arithmetic over the selling price and the stated MRP, that one shared ceiling produces an 88% badge on the cheapest and a 35% badge on the dearest. We have not verified that any of them was ever sold at Rs. 999. Assigning a list price is an ordinary and lawful commercial decision and nothing here alleges otherwise.
Every percentage on this shelf is arithmetic over two numbers a seller chose. The deepest badges sat on the cheapest unbranded listings under the shared Rs. 999 ceiling, while the recognisable brands were badged 0% to 33% - one listing sold at Rs. 1,997 against a stated Rs. 1,999, a badge that rounds to nothing. The shelf-wide median badge was 68%. A deep badge here means a low price under a shared ceiling; it does not mean a measured saving.
Three listings in this read carry the model string FS1100 under two brand names, at Rs. 400, Rs. 526 and Rs. 530, against stated MRPs of Rs. 999, Rs. 1,499 and Rs. 1,899 - and the listing photographs for them, plus a fourth listing at Rs. 480, are the same product-card artwork with different brand names printed on it. This page reports that they share a model string and an image; it does not claim they contain the same device, because we did not buy or open any of them and the shelf does not say.
On this shelf, nothing - the same search returns all three. A mechanical epilator pulls hair with rotating tweezer heads (one listing here states 18 of them, at Rs. 1,539); a facial trimmer or foil shaver cuts at the surface (most of the Rs. 123 to Rs. 400 listings); an IPL device uses pulsed light (one listing, Rs. 3,495). The search also returns abrasive crystal pads at Rs. 169 and Rs. 198 with no motor at all. Those descriptions are the listings' own printed words; we did not buy or use any device and nothing here is a claim about results, permanence or skin safety.
