AJIO does not publish one return window, which is why the answer people find online is usually wrong. Its own policy sets the window per category — 07 days on watches, jewellery and home textiles, 10 days on bags and luggage with no exchange at all, and nothing whatsoever on beauty, cookware, electronics or gold. And where a product is non-returnable but arrives broken, the deadline shrinks to five days.

📅 Update log:
6 November 2026: first published. Read from AJIO's own cancellation, return and refund policy at ajio.com/return-refund-policy, logged out, from India, with a plain fetch. The page is published by Reliance Retail Limited and states that it covers both ajio.com and luxe.ajio.com. Every window, fee, exclusion and timeline on this page is quoted or paraphrased from that document, including its Annexure A category table, which AJIO itself describes as "an indicative list". Nothing here is taken from a product page, a help-centre article or customer reports, and no figure is inferred.

The headline numbers: 7 days, 10 days, or not at all

AJIO does not run one return window. Its Annexure A sets the window category by category, and the two numbers that appear are 07 days and 10 days — with a long list of categories where the answer is neither, because the products are marked non-returnable and non-exchangeable outright.

The single most surprising row is bags and luggage: 10 days to return, and exchange is simply not offered. Handbags, wallets, belts and travel accessories sit in that row, and laptop bags inside it are non-returnable altogether.

Lingerie and innerwear other than brasNon-returnableBras are the named exception in this category

AJIO describes this table as "an indicative list" and tells Users four separate times to check the product detail page for the exact policy on a specific item. That caveat is the policy's own and it is a real one: the apparel row — the largest part of the catalogue — carries no number in the Annexure at all, only a pointer to the product page.

"Non-returnable" has an exception, and it is shorter than the normal window

A product being non-returnable does not mean you are stuck with a broken one. Clause (l) lets a Non-Returnable Product go back in four named situations: it was damaged in transit, the wrong product was shipped, components are missing, or the sealed package arrived empty.

But the deadline is different. The policy says the request must be raised "not later than 5 (five) days from the date of delivery of such Products". So the window on a non-returnable item in trouble is five days — two days shorter than the 7-day categories and half the 10-day one.

Four reasons, five days, and the assessment is AJIO's. The policy states the defect must be "attributable to and accepted by Reliance after due verification at its sole discretion".

Open the box on the day it arrives, photograph anything wrong, and raise the request immediately. On a non-returnable category the five-day clock starts at delivery, not at the moment you get round to unpacking — and the policy asks you to email an image of the product and the invoice when you raise the return.

The fees and the consequences the policy names

Most of this document is about windows and conditions. Five lines in it cost money or take something away, and they are easy to miss.

What triggers itWhat the policy says happens
Lost certificate on a watch or precious-materials productRs. 500, collected from the User
Convenience fee on future orders, for Users with excessive returnsAmount not stated; shown at checkout, expressly non-refundable
Cash on delivery, for Users with high returns or unaccepted shipmentsMay be disabled at AJIO's discretion
Account, for wilful violation of the policyMay be disabled
Shipping charges on an ordinary returnNot refunded
Shipping charges on a defective or damaged productRefundable, but only if claimed within 7 days of receiving the rest of the refund
Cash refundsNever — "We do not make any cash refunds"

The Rs. 500 is the only rupee figure in the entire policy. It applies where a User "loses any certificate relating to" a watch or a precious-materials product — the kind of authenticity or warranty card that is easy to throw out with the packaging.

The convenience fee is the clause with the widest reach and the least detail. AJIO says that if a User "has excessive returns in their account, we may charge a standard convenience fee for future orders". No threshold is published for what counts as excessive, and no amount is published for the fee — the policy only promises it will be shown as a separate charge at checkout before you order, and that it is non-refundable. Stating a consequence without stating the threshold is the observation here; we do not suggest the clause is improper.

What a refund actually contains, and when

The sentence to know is this one: "Refund to be made to the User shall not include any amount paid by the User towards shipping charges or any other such charges including Convenience Fee."

So on an ordinary change-of-mind return, the delivery you paid for is gone. The exception is a product that arrived defective or damaged — there AJIO may refund the shipping too, but only if you claim it within 7 days of receiving the refund for everything else. That is a second deadline, running after the first one has already been met, and it requires you to notice that the shipping was left out.

StageThe clock AJIO states
Cancellation, before the product is packed and invoicedRefund initiated within 10 business days of the request
Return of a returnable productRefund processed within 7–10 business days from the date AJIO receives the product and verifies the defect or non-compliance
Non-returnable product, damaged in transit or wrong itemRequest must be raised within 5 days of delivery
ExchangeWindow is stated on the product detail page, not in the policy
Shipping-charge refund after a defective deliveryClaim within 7 days of the main refund landing

The return clock is the one worth reading twice. The refund window of 7–10 business days runs "from the date of us receiving the Products and verifying the defect or the non-compliance" — not from the date the courier collects the parcel. Reverse pickup time and warehouse verification time both sit outside the stated window.

And none of it comes back as cash. The policy says plainly: "We do not make any cash refunds." For a cash-on-delivery order, the money goes to your AJIO Wallet or to a bank account whose details you supply. Once it is in the AJIO Wallet it "cannot be further transferred to any other bank account or encashed" — it is store credit from that point on.

The conditions that let AJIO refuse the return

The policy lists mandatory conditions for a return to be accepted, and they are the ordinary ones: unworn, unwashed, untampered; price tag, bar code, brand tags and original packaging intact; serial or IMEI number matching AJIO's records; every bundled accessory, charger, manual and gift returned with it; and a set returned as a complete set.

If an item comes back without the accessories or gifts it shipped with, the policy gives AJIO the right to refuse the return outright, refuse the refund, or "deduct the amount payable in respect of such items from the amount of refund". The free gift is therefore not free if you keep it.

Two refusals are worth flagging because people run into them. Ordering the wrong model, colour or product yourself is not a return reason — the policy excludes it explicitly, for both returns and exchanges. And "Made to Order" products are excluded outright.

The bundle rule, in AJIO's own worked example

If products were sold together as one promotional package, the policy requires all of them to go back before a refund is processed.

AJIO's own illustration: "if the User has purchased a shirt and a pair of pants as 1 (one) Product in a promotional package, the User will be required to return both the shirt and the pair of pants and will not be permitted to return either only the shirt or only the pair of pants from the Bundled Package."

Partial returns are allowed on ordinary multi-item orders — the policy says a User "can raise a return request for one or all Products" — but a Bundled Package is carved out of that. The policy then adds that if a Bundled Package contains a Non-Returnable Product, that restriction carries across the package.

The practical reading: a two-for-one or buy-together promotion converts two independent decisions into one. If the trousers fit and the shirt does not, the policy as written does not let you keep only the trousers.

Exchanges are narrower than returns

Exchange on AJIO exists for one reason: fit and size. The policy defines an Exchangeable Product as one delivered in a different fit or size than ordered, or one where the User simply wants a larger or smaller size of the same product.

The exchange window is not in the policy at all — it says the request must be raised "within such timelines mentioned in the Product detail page". So unlike returns, there is no published fallback number to rely on.

And exchange depends on stock: the policy conditions it on "availability of stock in same brand for same or different fit and/or size". Bags, luggage, handbags, wallets and belts have no exchange option at all, which the Annexure states outright.

One further condition that catches people out: fragrances must come back with the water seal sticker intact, which the policy names specifically for both returns and exchanges — and fragrances and deodorants are on the Non-Returnable list to begin with.

Where the discretion sits

This policy reserves a large number of decisions to Reliance's "sole discretion" and states that its decision is "final and binding" on the User. That phrasing covers whether a defect is accepted, whether a returned item is in saleable condition, whether a refund is processed at all, which payment route a refund takes when more than one was used, and whether an account is disabled.

There is also a geography limit that is rarely mentioned. Returns run through reverse-logistics partners covering "a select list of areas", and the policy contemplates cases where AJIO cannot arrange a pickup at all.

None of this is unusual for an Indian marketplace policy, and nothing here says any of it is unlawful or unfair — the point of reading it is simply that the parts of the process a shopper assumes are automatic are written down as judgements.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is AJIO's return window in 2026?
There is no single window — AJIO sets it by category in Annexure A of its own return policy, and the two published numbers are 07 days and 10 days. Watches, jewellery, home textiles and winterwear are 07 days returnable. Bags, luggage, handbags, wallets, belts and travel accessories are 10 days returnable but carry no exchange option at all. Apparel, accessories and footwear — the biggest part of the catalogue — carry no number in the Annexure; the policy says to read the window off the product detail page. AJIO calls the Annexure "an indicative list" and tells Users four separate times to check the product page for the exact terms. Read 6 November 2026; policies change without notice.
Which AJIO products cannot be returned at all?
The policy marks these categories non-returnable and non-exchangeable: beauty and personal care; hair care accessories, oils and spa; home fragrances, cookware, bakeware, decor, stationery and festive gifts; smartphones, speakers, power banks, pen drives, hard disks and smart watches; gold and silver coins, bars and idols; laptop bags; and lingerie and innerwear other than bras. Bras are the named exception inside an otherwise non-returnable category. The policy's separate Non-Returnable Products list also names fragrances and deodorants, mobile and accessories, gadgets and appliances, gloves, masks, handkerchiefs, some night and loungewear, and baby feeding, nursing, bath and diaper products. AJIO's stated reasons are hygiene, personal care, wellness and the consumable nature of the goods.
Can I return a non-returnable AJIO product if it arrives damaged?
Yes, in four named situations — but you get five days, not seven or ten. The policy allows a Non-Returnable Product to be returned if it was damaged in transit, if the wrong product was shipped, if components are missing, or if the sealed package arrived empty. The request must be raised "not later than 5 (five) days from the date of delivery", which is a shorter deadline than the one on ordinary returnable goods. The defect must also be "attributable to and accepted by Reliance after due verification at its sole discretion", and AJIO may ask for images or send someone to assess it. Open the parcel the day it arrives.
Does AJIO refund the delivery charge when I return something?
No, not on an ordinary return. The policy states that a refund "shall not include any amount paid by the User towards shipping charges or any other such charges including Convenience Fee". The one exception is a product delivered defective or damaged — there AJIO may refund the shipping, but only if you claim it within 7 days of receiving the refund for everything else, which means noticing the shortfall and raising it separately. AJIO also states it makes no cash refunds at all, and that money credited to the AJIO Wallet "cannot be further transferred to any other bank account or encashed".
How long does an AJIO refund take?
The policy gives 7–10 business days for a return refund and 10 business days for a cancellation refund — but the return clock starts later than people expect. It runs "from the date of us receiving the Products and verifying the defect or the non-compliance", so the reverse pickup and the warehouse quality check both happen before the 7–10 days begin. For jewellery and watches the policy adds a further step: the refund is made only once the product reaches the brand showroom or warehouse and the quality check is complete — and if you have lost the certificate that came with it, a fee of Rs. 500 is collected.

Every window, fee, exclusion and timeline on this page was read from AJIO's own cancellation, return and refund policy at ajio.com/return-refund-policy on 6 November 2026, logged out, from India. The document is published by Reliance Retail Limited and states that it applies to both ajio.com and luxe.ajio.com. Direct quotations are marked as such; everything else is a paraphrase of that page. AJIO itself describes its category table as "an indicative list" and tells Users repeatedly to check the product detail page, because specific products and brands may carry different return and exchange terms — so the window on the item in your basket can differ from the category row quoted here, and the product page wins. The policy reserves a number of decisions to Reliance's "sole discretion" and states that those decisions are "final and binding" on the User; where this page describes a consequence such as the convenience fee or a disabled account, it is reporting what the document says may happen, not what does happen in any particular case. No threshold is published for what counts as "excessive returns" and no amount is published for the convenience fee; noting that absence is an observation about the document and nothing more. This is a reading of a published policy on one day. It is not legal advice, it is not a complete account of AJIO's terms, and it does not assess any of these terms against Indian consumer law or allege that any of them is unlawful, unfair or improperly applied.
